Junior transfer looking for off-campus housing / roommates (Fall 2026)

Hey everyone, I’m an incoming junior transfer to UM this fall and starting to look for off-campus housing.

I’m planning to move down around late May to early June and wanted to see if anyone has a spot open, is looking to fill a lease, or would want to get a place together (thinking 2–4 people). Ideally trying to stay pretty close to campus.

I’m pretty easy to live with, keep things clean, and respect shared space. I’m social but also like having my own routine, so I’m flexible with different living styles as long as it’s a good environment overall.

If anyone’s in a similar situation or has something available, feel free to reach out. Also open to any advice on areas to look into or avoid.

Appreciate it 👍

3 hour FIN class

I was wondering if anyone has taken FIN320 6:20-9:15pm meeting once a week? I’ve never taken a 3 hour class and I’m debating if i should take that rather than a class that meets twice a week for an hour and 15 minutes

housing choice (eaton single or cv double)

i was wondering if anyone could tell me how bad are the eaton dorms? i'm trying to choose between an eaton single and a CV double due to budget,

pros of eaton: single room, private bathroom, apparently the rooms and desks are bigger? (proximity to academic buildings not a big concern)

cons: people sound quite vocal about how run-down it is?, no dining hall, mold issues

pros of CV: new rooms, closer to dining hall, has music practice rooms

cons: communal bathrooms, i'll have to room with someone (am quite an introvert, HAHA)

i do quite enjoy my privacy! but at the same time don't mind making friends with a roommate too,,and a CV double would be cheaper than a single. biggest concern is the living conditions tbh.

Is UMiami a good fit for me? (CompE major)

Just to preface, I am not at all a party person. But I love the look and feel of UMiami's campus and Miami seems like a pretty good city to be in. I am an international student looking to major in computer engineering.

  1. Do you think I would enjoy UMiami?

  2. Are there any like minded people out there?

  3. Engineering students: How would you rate the faculty, classes, labs, etc.?

Introvert at UM

Hello, I just got admitted to UM and am joining in the fall. I was wondering how UM is like for a more introverted person especially as the school is known for being a party school. Is it possible to avoid the party scene, or is the party scene very overwhelming.

Fafsa

Has anyone used the Fafsa SAI estimate calculator on their website? How accurate was it to when you got your actual SAI number?

But I just got my aid letter and they are saying I will have to pay $30k out of pocket for the school??? Where is this number coming from does anyone think it is possible to ask for more aid I don’t wanna pay that.

Sebastian & Mrs. Cane

Is there someone wearing the Sebastian and Mrs. Cane mascot costume just walking around campus during the day or how does seeing them work?
