When every £2 coin in your till, is a collectable.
swapping out a Great Fire, need that for my £2 book.
No flag error on the centenary coin.
I found very little about this online but was curious of the valuation
No proof unfortunately
Year of Three Kings
So I'm sure most here are well aware that in January 1936 George V died and Edward the VIII became king. In the end he chose his divorcee for his wife and abdicated in December of 1936. Thus George VI, who would see the UK and Commonwealth through the War and not capitulate to Germany, became king instead.
I noticed at the Royal Mint website that they have a 3 penny set of them. Edward VIII was not king long enough for the mint to get coins out with his portrait on them but some of the Crown colonies and dependencies used pennies with holes so no portrait was needed.
They wanted £40.00 (!) for them though and I decided to get my own set together for less than $10.
No fancy display folder but I like my 1936, 1936 & 1937 penny set none the less.
British gold sovereign coin from the year 1925 - Is this the real thing?
Coin ID and info please
Hello all, I know there's hundreds of these posts every month; but I've come across a couple of coins that have come from a relatives house clearance and just wondered if anyone could shed any light on a few things:
The first coin I've managed to identify as what I think is a 1562 Elizabeth I sixpence. My main question is; is it real? The striking seems to be haphazard enough that it would be strange if this was a replica. Any opinions on condition and value would also be appreciated. I personally have not cleaned it, but it seems awfully clean for an almost 500 year old coin.
The second coin, I just can't seem to find what it is, any and all info appreciated.
thank you!
