The great Wisconsin has been eaten. All remaining states stand a fighting chance against each other. Who will be gone next? Only 8 states remain…

Looking for a hotel room with this set up.

Specifically, a big glass shower in the main room. Location is pretty irrelevant. Google wasn't very helpful. Cost is... well, cost is always a factor, but I'm willing to go over budget.

Best bean and cheese burrito in town(s)?

Although I’m not, my mom was a vegetarian who raised little ‘ol me in California. As such I have a warm nostalgic feeling for a nice, simple, but otherwise gigantic bean and cheese burrito. Taco Bravo from Campbell/Santa Clara CA is my gold standard reference point (probably should caveat early 1990’s and before)

Basically refied beans and cheddar cheese preferred (at least- not mozzarella) in copious, finely shredded amounts with a decent hot sauce dropped there on a large flour tortilla.

Seems simple, and can get anywhere- but does anyone have favorites? I haven’t found a good go too yet.

Bonus for eastern Saint Paul areas.

Why are HOA/maintenance fees in the Twin Cities so high?

I lived in St Cloud for many years before leaving MN for a job in California (wow, was that a mistake). I'm going to retire in a couple of years, and I want to move back to MN -- but to Minneapolis, St Paul, or one of the ring suburbs, not St Cloud. I want a condo or townhouse, not a house, and I've found some good ones in good neighborhoods, any of which I could buy outright with my savings.

But good grief, the HOA/maintenance fees are HIGH. I saw one lovely place, 2br2ba, in Edina, for $275K, but with $991/mo. for the HOA. Other places I've seen have similarly high HOA fees. Why? I've had folks tell me that snow removal adds a lot to costs, but I paid only $75/mo. in St Cloud for HOA/maintenance, and snow removal was pretty crucial then and there, too. What gives?

Would you live in Lakeville or Eagan?

My wife and I are looking to move to Lakeville or Eagan. I have read countless Reddit discussions about suburbs and the general consensus I see is that Eagan > Lakeville. However, I just wanted to create a new form to discuss some things that are more tailored to my preferences to see which city aligns better.

My priorities are

  1. My kids
  2. Good housing
  3. Things to do

When it comes to my kids, I feel both Lakeville and Eagan are top school districts, and that I really can't go wrong. My goal here is to be around other like minded parents who make their kids a priority. I also want there to be neighborhoods where my kids can make a lot of friends.

When it comes to housing, it appears Lakeville actually edges Eagan out here. In my price range (450-600k), my wife and I are really liking the house options more in Lakeville than Eagan. I know that this can change, but currently this is where we stand.

Finally, it appears Eagan edges out Lakeville when it comes to activities to be involved with. I am personally a big pickleball player, and I know Chips is a great facility.

Individuals who are more familiar with these two areas, what do you recommend, and why?

Keith Ellison for Governor

We need legitimate alternatives to weak democrats like Amy Klobuchar. Klobuchar supports the Palestinian genocide and receives money from AIPAC which will negatively impact her in the 2026 election just like it did Kamala Harris in 2024. I suggest we try and pressure Keith Ellison to run for governor rather than another term as AG.

Field Trip spot from the 90s?

I remember a few times going to a old timey village on how people survived the prairie days sort. Buildings built like they were from that time period and had people acting like they are from that era. For the love of me I can not remember the name of the place, I'm pretty sure it was near/around Burnsville but most other details escape me. Anyone have a clue?

EDIT: It was Murphys Landing thank you u/zoominzacks

Any landlords that have a security deposit alternative?

I can’t afford a full extra month of rent up front for a deposit until I get my deposit back from my last place. Does anyone know of a landlord that lets you pay your security deposit over time?

Finding Adult/Child Summer Classes and Camps

Hi!

When I was a kid, I remember my parents signing me up for half-day camps, sometimes ones they would do with me. A short field trip, a crafting class, etc. I'm trying to find similar ones but am having trouble. Does anyone have a good resource for finding day camps for toddlers that adults can participate in with them? I'm open to anywhere around the Twin Cities!

Thank you : )

Casual golf buddies search

Hi all, I just moved to the Twin Cities recently, and I need some golf buddies. I've only been playing for a couple of years, and I'm not great, but I can break 90 on great days, and 100 on good days, and so on, but I always keep pace and don't go hunting for my balls or otherwise slow teams down. I'm in my early 40s with my first kid on the way, so this may all be for nought in a few months, but I'd love to get a few rounds in before then. I typically cart it, but I have a push cart and can join walking games as well. I'm in Edina, and haven't played any courses yet, but I did practice at the Braemar dome just once before they took it down. DM me if you've got room in your golf group for another! Thanks!

recommendations for short-term visitors?

ill be visiting minneapolis and the MOA from chicago for a week in june for work (half of the week) and pleasure (the rest of the week as a solo traveler)! ive never been to MN, so i know very little about it culturally aside from what ive seen in pop culture and the news. that being said, i have a bunch of questions:

  1. where would be a decent place to get a hotel? ill be spending the work half of the week at/near the mall of america, but im looking for a different location for the pleasurable rest of my week. i was thinking dt minneapolis, but im open to suggestions! mind you, im from the west side of chicago and work on the south side and previously lived on the west side, so diverse neighborhoods don't really intimidate me!
  2. what are the best lgbtq+ bars to go to? im a queer 26 year old female, so i enjoy drinking and going to bars and stuff! i like nightlife in general, but being around the community always helps with the nerves (as someone who is an ambivert)
  3. what are some go-to restaurants that you'd kill for? what's one foodplace that always brings you comfort and recommend to everyone? i love food!! share your suggestions with me! just keep in mind i dont really want to pay a tonn of money on a meal, and i dont have dietary restrictions. i am hispanic, so that's always my favorite regional food.
  4. what are things to do during the day? my pleasurable portion is from wednesday (17th) evening - sunday (21st) morning, with my flight leaving sunday afternoon. im open to just about anything! i love exploring and checking out cool new things, but i wont have access to a car so.... that leads to my next question:
  5. how's the public transit? is it accessible? is there an app for ticketing? how much are the tickets? tell me about it!! i dont mind taking lyft everywhere, but that can get pretty expensive
  6. any tips for making friends during my stay? non creepy friends! i was going to try "The Apps" (iykyk) since im on them, but other feedback is welcomed.

sheesh! i think that's all for now? i have slightly less than one month until my trip, so i have time to prepare.

tyia!!! <33

Found fishing tackle bag

I found it on Friday and let it be and then found it was still there on Sunday, trying to get it back to its rightful owner, if you can tell me some specifics in the box and where approximately it was found I will return it.

Sorry mods if this isn’t allowed, didn’t know where else to post it.

ICE agent charged in shooting of man in north Minneapolis during Operation Metro Surge (gift link)

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office issued a nationwide arrest warrant on Monday for the ICE agent who allegedly shot a Venezuelan immigrant in north Minneapolis during Operation Metro Surge and then lied about the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Christian J. Castro, 52, was charged in Hennepin County District Court with four counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of falsely reporting a crime. The shooting of Julio Sosa-Celis on Jan. 14 came one week after ICE agent Jonathan Ross killed Renee Good and set off another wave of intense protests amid the largest immigration enforcement action in United States history.

Sosa-Celis and his roommate, Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna, were initially charged with assaulting a federal officer as Trump administration officials widely publicized their mug shots and former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called their alleged crime an act of “attempted murder.” The charges were later dropped when video evidence directly contradicted the story given by federal officers.

In an interview with the Minnesota Star Tribune before announcing the charges, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said Castro was identified as the shooter through two sources: a Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension interview at the site of the shooting and medical records from Castro’s visit to the hospital after the shooting.

High Water Sump Issues

Any else having high water tables causing non stop sump activity? Mine has been running constantly since the beginning of March. At first I thought it would go down after the snow and frost layer melting. Still going. I thought it be a leak in my water service but the water meter doesn’t indicate that and my water bill hasn’t spiked.

I got the sensors set to maximum head with a 15 to 18 minute cycle going 24/7.

Morning Dew Gardening - any reviews

Morning y'all

My HOA wants to use this contractor called Morning Dew Gardening but I can't find much about them online beyond a Facebook

Mostly asking as their work seems exceptionally expensive (although I admit I do not know much, so it may actually be reasonable and I just have sticker shock)

We got quoted 43,000 for updating a retaining wall

I think the rough dimensions are 15 feet in length, maybe 4-5 feet tall and is immediately next to the elevated garage walkway

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? Or with retaining wall contractors

Bubble Gum Ice Cream Source

Hey TC, looking for an ice cream shop that actually carries bubble gum ice cream. My partner has expressed a desire for some after years of never seeing it around. Anyone know of a shop that actually has some to serve up?
