ive enjoyed comparing these two after my recent purchase of the 1952 edition. isnt it interesting what was taken out, and what was expanded on? some sections are also in different places!

“ For elegant parties, for substantial dinners, for hurry up suppers — here are more than 250 delicious one-dish meals: casseroles, meat, pies, stews, soups, skillet, specials, and full meals, salads, and sandwiches. One of these “kitchen tested“ recipes has been specifically designed to fit into today’s pattern of streamlined meal planning and simplified table service.”

I was able to thrift this off of someone on Mercari. It is in great shape and such a fun Betty Crocker cookbook. I included a few fun pages and recipes.

dont mind the presentation. modified brown eyed susan cake with chocolate butter icing! betty crockers picture cook book, 1950

i omitted the flavoring extracts, only did chocolate and vanilla, and (poorly, lol) marbled it rather than leave it as dollops. my first time trying this recipe, and i love it! tastes like boxed cake mix :-) not too sweet, so we are all enjoying it for a late mothers day breakfast.

“Midnight Suppers” from Betty’s Guide to Easy Entertaining

“Come around nine” is a welcome invitation…well not sure I feel that way the older I get. Haha dinner is earlier the better for me now.

But these are some recipes for “ten to twenty or more friends on a Friday or Saturday night”
