Why does Evilive sound like that?

Title...

I've been diving deep into The Misfits' catalog for the first time lately. I love live albums, and am stoked on the performances captured on Evilive, but wow does it sound like shit.

Did the original 7 inch sound this bad as well? Or did it happen when the tapes were digitized? The sound of Evilive reminds me a lot of the live track Jawbreaker had on one of the Rock Against Bush CDs. Also a great performance, but sounds terrible.

Would it be worth my time to track down one of the old LPs or a boot of the original 7 inch? Or will it not sound any better?

I grew up in OC Ca.-was heavily into the sk8boarding scene- mid 80s, I believe “Legacy of Brutality” was first time i hrd them.. and that was it! Instant fiend club member.. lol

The collection

None of the 7” are originals except Danzig On a Wicked Night single. 12” second press for Walk Among Us purple with fiend club insert, signed German copy of Evilive from Doyle, Jerry, and Glenn. Samhain except for one colored boot of Initium and the live boot 7” are originals. Danzig 1 & 4 originals 2 & 3 reprints from 2025 and a colored boot of 3. Coffin box is first press with the promo sticker sheet.

Marky and Dez era?

So...I know it's the most reviled lineup/era, but like...where can I find GOOD, CLEAR footage or audio of them playing live? Not the crap that's on YouTube, but some actual decent stuff.

Are they trying to bury that era? What's the damn deal?
