HIGHLY recommend giving the new Karmanjakah album a listen. Scratches a very itchy spot in my brain... it's the closest i've come to TC vibes in a long ass time ^^how ^^long ^^has ^^it ^^been?

Other than repeat playthroughs, how else are you guys scratching the itch these days? I'm open to recommendations!

Something new

Just started listening to a band called Karmanjakah this week. In a way it kind of quenches that thirst for new contortionist music. Different but also reminiscent. Highly recommend checking their new album out that just dropped a few days ago.

The next TC album is going to be their greatest piece of work they’ve ever made.

Idk why but I have a gut feeling that this is going to be the greatest thing they’ve ever done.

Clairvoyant and Language were such groundbreaking albums.

When it comes to pumping out authentic music, we can count on TC.

I mean hell, if the bones EP is any indication of where they are going, then I’m fucking pumped . Follow and early grave were such bangers

Hello friends, this is The Contortionist side project-related.

Social media comment threads sure do stink, but this subreddit has been super cool by comparison, so, first: thanks for being good humans, and patient with the band. TC LP5 is indeed in process of being finished.

I’m releasing an electronic record / OST called Code Breach. As a humble thanks, I’ve put it on bandcamp today, and I’m posting it here for the subreddit first. https://ericguenther.bandcamp.com/album/code-breach-ost

Code Breach is a visual novel that will be released later this year. Although OST is in the title, and there is plenty of cinematic ambience, I think of this as an electronic record soaked with my version of m83, Air, Carpenter Brut, and Casiopea. French electronic music x J-fusion (maybe my tastefully mangled version of it). I’m turnt up and thrilled to have had the opportunity to dig in this stylistic direction. There’s so much more where this came from. Vol2 contains more contextual cinematic ambience and scene music… it comes with the producer pack now and will be released everywhere else later this year.

I have also compiled a deluxe edition Producer Edition (link below) that includes stems for all 27 tracks of the 80+ minute Code Breach OST, the C-sides collection: demos, out-takes, unused ‘proofs-of-concepts’', a selection of 117 loops, 24 one-shot samples, and 35 absurdly dark, dismal, and mechanical cinematic drones**. I’d love to freebie a few of these on to any busy producers interested in cooking up with it.**

Finally, there is also a free sample pack with 27 grisly and messed up one-shots and mechanical-hate-drones that didn’t make the record… it won’t be for everyone, but I can imagine a wide range of potential for grimy filth-churning.

I’ll be bleeding out more related material as it comes together. If you have read this far, I APPRECIATE YOU, thank you. If it strikes you, show anyone who might lock in with any of this.

Cheers, thanks for the support as always, open to any feedback/ideas except “get back to work on LP5”, despite being a totally valid comment to make.

For me it’s Monochrome (Pensive) and Geocentric Confusion. Both of those hit the feels in a way I cannot describe. Would do anything to see those songs live (I envy those who have 😭)

As much as I love the Michael Lessard era of The Contortionist, Intrinsic is still my favorite release from them and Feedback Loop easily lands in my top 10 tracks of their catalog.

I’ve seen them live a bunch of times and somehow never caught this one, which is wild. Funny enough, the only video of this track I’ve been able to find is one with Mike on vocals and he absolutely crushes it! Does anyone know if there’s any other live footage of it out there besides this video? Seriously underrated track.
