Pre-1987 Apache boats, built 1978–1986 by Bob Saccenti and Ben Kramer on Miami’s Thunderboat Row, are the only “real” Apaches to purists. Born from a secret Don Aronow deep-V mold, these Kevlar-laid 41 Warpath and 47-foot beasts dominated offshore racing—winning the 1984 APBA Worlds and pounding 10-foot seas at 80+ mph. Hand-built with triple Keith Black V8s, custom Gail Paik liveries, and cocaine-cowboy swagger, they embodied raw 1980s excess. The 1987 shift came after Aronow’s murder and Kramer’s arrest. Feds seized Apache; Mark McManus took over, refining hulls with carbon fiber and safety for poker runs. Post-’87 models (Warrior, Brave) are elite but lack the outlaw soul. Originals now fetch $75K–$400K+ restored, prized as uncut legends of racing’s wildest era.
Even though Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was popular and successful, and the addition of Saavik was nicely received by Star Trek fans, Kirstie Alley did not return for the character in Star Trek III and Star Trek IV (short appearance).
Robin Curtis replaced Kirstie Alley in playing Saavik.
Any comments about Curtis' take on the character?
