Buying Advice Turbo S - Any objections for a first time Porsche owner?

I‘m this 🤏🏻 close to signing for a CPO Turbo S. Of course I have last minute doubts, so any remarks from the mighty community? Some objections or hints for someone who never owned a Porsche before (coming from a 2022 Model 3 Performance)? Something I should definitely check before buying? I did test drive it and I‘m aware that this is a step back in connectivity and “smart“ features, but it feels way more like a real car and is overall a great piece of engineering.

42k miles, 3.5 years old, 105k USD-equivalent (Germany)

a lot of extras like InnoDrive, Surround View, Burmester, HUD, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, panoramic roof. List price was over 240k USD-equivalent.

I‘m planning to drive it for the next 3 years and expect it to halve its current value in this time. Also I plan for 2k USD-equivalent in maintenance per year. For the PCCB, I just hope nothing happens. Wouldn’t break my neck financially, but it would hurt. I mostly heard, that without an accident or really bad luck they should outlast the car itself. Would prefer steel brake, but not an option for a Turbo or Turbo S

Mixed emotions first 30 days with a taycan

So, my first 30 days with the Porsche Taycan…

I absolutely love the car, and I don’t want to come across as overly negative, but it’s been a bit of a rough start.

In the first week, the heating stopped working completely, no warm air at all. Took it into Porsche, which to be fair was handled well. They fixed it under warranty in a couple of days and said everything checked out fine.

Then about 3–4 weeks in, I charged the car overnight, got in the next morning to head out, and was hit with an “Electrical system fault.” The car wouldn’t drive at all.

Had to get it towed back to Porsche, and now they’re saying it could need a 12V battery replacement and possibly work on the main battery cells too… with a 6–8 week lead time 🤦🏼‍♂️

Has anyone else had a similar experience with these? Is this just bad luck, or are Taycans known for this kind of thing? Also makes me wonder if this is part of the reason they seem to depreciate so heavily.

Edit: taycan turbo 2020

Mud and dirt trapped in the cooling fans used when fast charging and some nasty vibrations

Hi Guys, just on a road trip to Germany in my 2026 Taycan Cross Turismo and it's the first time I fast charged on public charging since getting the car in the winter. We live off the beaten track and the path to our house can get muddy in the winter, it seems we are paying for it now because although I wash it frequently in the winter it seems there was a build up of mud around the cooling fans. The left fan seems to have some nasty vibrations and it's causing the bumper to vibrate a lot. Is it me or is this a bad design? I have no way to get in there and clear any obstructions out Thanks for your thoughts.

Taycan ‘25 front bumper options

Need help choosing the right front bumper after a small crash.

Rwd nicely specced.

I have the option of putting either of these at a marginal cost difference. No carbon parts wanted.

Strictly design wise, i need your opinions.

What would you go for?

MY20 4S - Ready for summer

In year 5 of ownership and still loving it!

Thinking about adding a 911 GTS into the stable but NOTHING beats the Taycan as a daily driver.

Nouveau caprice

Mercedes charger not working on my taycan anymore

Hello everyone, I have been using my Mercedes wall box charger on my taycan for 4 months. It’s been working fine but now it’s not

When I plugged it in

a blue spinning circle keeps going for a minute or two then it shows charging not possible

I checked my wallbox and it’s connected properly to my internet and it shows charging on the wallbox

I don’t what’s the issue. I tried hard reset, checked my WiFi, etc and it still didn’t work

Any idea how to fix this? My taycan is 2022

Edit:

It worked after waiting 10 minutes but I am afraid it will happen in the middle of the road

Help- Anyone returned a Porsche lease recently: Curious to know if a small windshield chips (repaired) result in huge deductions/fees or OEM replacement charge upon return.

I leased a Porsche Taycan about a year ago and still have nearly two years left on the lease. Today, a small chip (smaller than a dime) appeared on the passenger side of my windshield after a truck kicked up stones on the highway.

What are my options—should I have it repaired by Safelite, or repair/replace the windshield through a Porsche dealership, or use a reputable 3rd-party shop and pay out of pocket? I’m in Texas, and my insurance has a $0 deductible. I don’t think windshield repair in TX counts against you or raise your premiums but this is not my concern here. Concern is Porsche charging me later on upon lease return.

My main concern is this —- if I get the chip repaired (e.g., by Safelite), it may show up on Carfax. When I return the lease, could Porsche penalize me for repairing it instead of replacing the windshield with an OEM part?

Would it be better to go through the Porsche dealership, or even pay out of pocket with a third party to avoid any record?

I’d prefer Safelite to get it repaired (Safelite may report it to carded), but more importantly I’m worried Porsche might penalize me or still require a full OEM replacement at lease return and the insurance in 2 years will tell me that it’s too late to redo it.

Any insights or experiences would be appreciated.

Swap to amber drls?

Hi all, I am new here but my other car mainly for my wife and kids is an ST Explorer, one thing I found was the community tool had a ton of soft mods you can do over an OBD and a laptop + software.

I can’t seem to find anything like that with the Taycan, I have my guess as to why but thought I would ask if anyone has successfully soft modes small things like changing the DRL’s to amber instead of white, etc..

2024 4S Matrix Headlights Question

Recently switched from Tesla to a Taycan, and I have the matrix headlights package on this vehicle. Was wondering, are the matrix headlights only auto high beams and turning around corners?

Found it weird that they're pretty advanced but don't cast shadows around cars, etc. like the Tesla, unless that isn't what these are meant for.

tCAN-Pro on Taycan J1.1 – “BMS Read Failed / La séquence ne contient aucun élément” with ENET cable

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to read the battery/BMS data on my Porsche Taycan J1.1 (gts 2023) using tCAN-Pro with an ENET cable.

The ENET connection looks fine (green indicator), but when I try to access the battery/BMS screen, I get this error:

“BMS Read Failed”

“Error: La séquence ne contient aucun élément.”

So the connection seems OK, but the BMS read itself fails.

A few questions:

Has anyone here had the same error in tCAN-Pro?

Is this usually a software/version issue, or can it mean a real communication problem with the BMS?

Do I need to do a full Port Scan first before reading the BMS?

Does the car need to be in a specific state (awake, ignition on, not charging, etc.)?

Windscreen crack

I recently noticed a tiny crack on the edge of the windscreen. I'm not sure if it's a rock chip or something else. Any advise on what to do? Will a DIY kit helps?
