Tree Service
There are so many tree services in town, I don't know who to pick. I have a palm tree in my back yard that is close to my pool. I really don't want to pay an arm and a leg and even possibly a kidney.
Do any of you have any recommendations for a service to take a tree down that is safe, reputable and not expensive.
I'm sure that is like finding a unicorn 🦄.
Battery installation
Does autozone or similar stores install a battery for free if i bring a brand new battery with me? if not does anyone know around how much it'd be? thanks in advance
Walmart will not touch my car because the key is falling apart. (It's taped together 🥲)
Have to have some kind of shop thay so i have the paper work for the service because of the warranty.
Walmart has a better battery option than auto zone and other surrounding stores for half the price.
Thank you.
BORED IN TALLY: WEEKLY EVENTS, 4/23/26 – 4/29/26
Someone recently suggested that this list is AI created. Let me assure you that I sit my very human ass down in a Shaq brand office chair for fat guys every week and compile it myself, mostly from FB events. And now you know.
Events are listed by the day. Events that happen every week appear first, one-time stuff after that. If you have anything you’d like people to know about, comment here or message me and I’ll add it in. If you’d like further info about any of the events, look it up! I usually don’t have any extra to add.
Events may be cancelled unexpectedly. If in doubt, contact the venue.
**Large Scale, Ongoing, and Multi-Day Events: **
Word of [South] 2026. This year’s artists include Earth, Wind & Fire! Word of [South], a festival of literature and music, is a unique blend of writers and musicians and an exploration of the relationship between the two disciplines. Beginning with our first festival in 2015, the festival showcases authors who write about music, musicians who also are authors, authors and musicians trading places, and everything in between. We’re especially proud of our “mu-aushups”: authors and musicians appearing together (some of whom have never met), as well as our cookbook authors, kids programming and musical performances of every genre--we’ve got gospel and HipHop, pop and bluegrass, jazz and country, Americana and R&B. Bring the whole family, and come see what’s down South! 4/24 – 4/26. Details, locations, times, and performers: https://wordofsouthfestival.com/
Black Sheep Production Group present THE GROWN-UPS by Simon Henriques and Skylar Fox at The Req Room. The campers are all finally asleep, and the lake is getting quiet. Have a beer; make a s’more; tell a scary story. Figure out what you’re going to have to do in the morning to keep camp fun and safe without letting the kids find out about... well, you’ve seen the news. I just got a push notification – they’re getting closer. Following a group of camp counselors trying to mold the leaders of tomorrow when tomorrow is looking bleaker and bleaker, The Grown-Ups explores the traditions that change us, what it takes for us to change them, and how to change yourself when you’re hopelessly, tragically not prepared for this. This presentation by Dr. Massimo Marengo, is a journey in space as well as time. We start by visiting the different environments of the Milky Way, and seeing how they are all interconnected, as if the Galaxy were a living ecosystem. We learn how a complex system like the Milky Way came to be, from its birth in the Dark Ages of the Universe to the present day. Galaxies and their inner components such as stars nebulae and the supermassive black holes lurking at their cores, orchestrate a complex dance that transforms the Universe. Like the Milky Way, all galaxies are the engines that forge its elements, from the primordial hydrogen and helium formed shortly after the Big Bang, to the rich variety we find on Earth and within us. 7pm

Their groundbreaking sophomore album, “Sound & Color” (2015), secured four Grammy Awards, including Best Alternative Music Album and Best Rock Song for "Don’t Wanna Fight." Both platinum-certified albums debuted at No. 1 on Billboard charts, cementing their legacy for soul-stirring live shows and genre-defying sound. The band last performed in Tallahassee to a sold-out crowd in 2016. When Lamont Landers steps up to the microphone, he doesn’t just sing—he commands the room. His songs are filled with raw, undeniable truth, shaped by a quiet rise from small-town Alabama to the spotlight—on his own terms. With a powerhouse voice that soars sky-high, he pours every ounce of himself into each note, channeling pain, passion, and poetry through waves of booming soul, electrifying rock ‘n’ roll, and smoldering R&B. With millions of streams on original tracks like “Love and Happiness,” “Piece of Me,” and “Into The Fold,” Lamont is ready to officially introduce himself with new music in 2025.* 7:30pm

Anyone know what happened at Battery Guyz Tallahassee today around 3:15pm?
Drove past to go run an errand and there was a fuck ton of cops in the parking lot. On top of that, when I drove past I saw a car with the trunk open with what looked like a duffel bag in it and a guy in camo military fatigues saluting either the car or someone else I couldn't see. Driving past about 15 minutes later and the car was gone but all the cops were still there. Anyone know what that was all about?

Happy Earth Day
I challenge every redditor to help keep our city clean, green, and beautiful this earth day. It is no one single persons job to keep our communities clean but a collective effort amongst all of us. We live in a beautiful city amongst the trees that many take for granted. Today and every day, if we all picked up one piece of litter big or small instead of throwing it, imagine how much cleaner our city would be? We owe it to each other and the planet to start taking care of it better. Littering is an act of carelessness and lack of education. It is also a lack of responsibility of public spaces and a sense of entitlement. I am tired of seeing our planet being treated like a dumpster. Perhaps we need more education and awareness. So that is the purpose of this post.
Today for earth day I tackled two clean up jobs along with my routine neighborhood cleanup. Pictured is the cleanup I performed at Walmart Apalachee and another at Dollar General on the southside. Included are before and after photos.
Happy earth day friends. Let's do better.
What is your favorite historical or random fact about Tallahassee?
I'm a huge history buff, so I would love to hear about any random facts about Tallahassee that you know about. What is something that maybe not a lot of people know about Tallahassee? I'm also open to hearing about any urban legends, so feel free to share that too!
Beware of appealing school zone camera speeding tickets
Just wanted to share this in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation. I got a school zone speeding ticket outside of Cobb Middle School (going 28 mph - speed limit there is usually 30). There are three different 15 mph school speed limit notices in a 100-yard radius: one says “when lights flashing,” one says “school days 7 am - 4 pm” and one on the other side of the street (facing west) that says “Monday - Friday 7:20-9:20 am and 2:20-4:20 pm.”
In my specific case - the lights on that sign were not flashing, and this was at 2:21 pm on a Friday in December (I’m an FSU student - i don’t keep up with Leon county schools, so i wasn’t aware it was a school day). Anyway, I got the citation sent to me by mail, and i chose to appeal the ticket and request a hearing so that i could bring up the different signage. I never heard back from the issuing authority, so i assumed they dropped the ticket.
Alas, i received another notice just last week of the same violation, but now the fine is doubled. I called every entity possible to ask why I never received anything about the appeal i sent in. The issuing company called me and said they never received an appeal. I said “ok, well, i sent it in by mail, as that’s the only option to request an hearing.” They said, sorry, now it’s in the hands of the Clerk of Courts. So i called THEM, and they said my only options are to either pay the (now doubled) fine, or get a court hearing in the next 7 days.
So, in summary: absolute bull. I ended up just paying the double fine virtually because there is no way i can make a court hearing in the next 7 days with my schedule. So if anyone finds themselves in this position/something similar… let a sister know how you handle it. lol

My parents and sister all play whenever we get together, so i really only get to play like a few times a year. I play on an app vs the computer but its not the same. Is there a club for this by chance? Or does anybody else like playing cards?
I'm also a big fan of spades, gin/rummy, and on the very rare occasion do I like poker but I'm not much of a gambler.

Is there a big new fire somewhere nearby? The sunlight just turned very red and dim where I am near TMH.
Weird lady with metal detector at Dunkin on Pensacola
Does anyone know what this woman could possibly be doing? She was wearing a grey cap and white shirt, she was stubby and white and probably in her 40s-50s. I came back to my car being scanned with a literal metal detector. I may or may not have cursed her out and she walked away from me with no defense after asking her what she’s doing.
She was just walking around with this metal detector and papers in her hand. Has anyone experienced anything like this??? I was going to call the non emergency line just in case but I don’t know. It was just extremely suspicious and odd behavior. Didn’t seem like an employee either.
Trivia and a Movie Presents Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Cameras at Tom Brown Park
I believe the cameras on poles at both entrances to the park are FLOCK cameras, but I decided to submit a public records request (PRR) to confirm my suspicions. The request was submitted to the Tallahassee Police today, 4/20/2026, around 0730, and they replied to me around 0845 saying that the cameras are exempt from PRRs citing 119.071(2-4), F.S. Turns out that we the citizens of Florida are not allowed to find out anything regarding those and similar cameras as it envolves surveillance techniques. Why is that we cannot learn how the state surveils us? The following is from the exemption lists:
(d) Any information revealing surveillance techniques or procedures or personnel is exempt from s. 119.07(1) and s. 24(a), Art. I of the State Constitution. Any comprehensive inventory of state and local law enforcement resources compiled pursuant to part I, chapter 23, and any comprehensive policies or plans compiled by a criminal justice agency pertaining to the mobilization, deployment, or tactical operations involved in responding to an emergency, as defined in s. 252.34, are exempt from s. 119.07(1) and s. 24(a), Art. I of the State Constitution and unavailable for inspection, except by personnel authorized by a state or local law enforcement agency, the office of the Governor, the Department of Legal Affairs, the Department of Law Enforcement, or the Division of Emergency Management as having an official need for access to the inventory or comprehensive policies or plans.
EBT Denied for No Interview? Help .
Can someone please help me? This is the second time DCF Florida Access has made a mistake and I can’t put myself through this kind of stress again. I’ve been calling all morning.
Last recertification they said I didn’t provide everything they asked for but after fighting everyday with calling and talking to people, it was finally resolved after a month because I DID provide everything that was requested.
This time, they stated I did not schedule an interview. I logged into ACCESS every single day since recertification and never received a notice to schedule an interview. In the past year they have sent me a link to schedule the interview with times. I clicked an old link this morning from 2025 recertification and it stated I was not eligible for interviews at this time. I uploaded a written letter and a screenshot that it stated I was not eligible for an interview.
I cannot lose my food stamps. I am on a state employee income and 3 children. Can someone please assist in what I can do?
