I finally picked up the 2014 TW200 with 50 miles on it from my Toyota shop owner in Denver. It's like... brand new! 🤗 Thanks for all the advice and help offered prior to me picking it up. Im sure someone here knows, but is this rear rack from the factory?

GA mud is no joke

I did a guesstimate on how deep the mud was. Been enjoying the hell out of this bike. She has gotten me in and out of the worse situations and keeps chugging along.

Joining the club

So I just recently was offered my grandpas 1987 tw200 that’s been sitting for a little bit.

I’m obviously going to take him up on that offer and it’s going to be my first bike I’ve owned.

Other than fixing it up and getting it clean does anyone have any suggestions on things to do/check/get for it?

I haven’t looked super far into the tw200 yet so figured this would be a good place to start, and if you guys want I can post pictures when I go and pick it up and then get it nice and cleaned.

Repair advice

Hello all!

I recently bought a 2009 tw200 in a "barn find" situation where the bike has been sitting for 3 years. The carb appears to be new and hardly used /new. I have cleaned out the old fuel line and clarke tank, replaced the battery and ensured the bike is getting power via the lights. My new solenoid comes in today. I bridged the old one and found that the starter turns over. The spark plug is cleaned and is getting spark.

My question is: if the bike does not crank and run after I install the new solenoid, what else should I consider?

Ps. I am trying to mitigate expenses as I go in the event that I need to sell. I will replace tires and change oil, and filter then.

Thanks y'all.

Epic Adventure

I recently put 900km on a TW200 from Smithers BC to the island of Haida Gwaii off the west coast of BC. Epic adventure. For anyone who thinks the TW isn’t capable. Think again

Initial Thoughts on 26 Tdub

So I went into my local dealer yesterday and sat on a Tdub for the first time because I am thinking about getting one. My honest first thoughts were that the seat is too hard and the handlebars are too low. I’m sure there are riser kits for the bars and aftermarket seats that are softer. Can anyone make some suggestions with links to good products?

Howdy y'all, I'm looking for my first bike. I'm very picky and have some weird requirements that's made common beginner bikes (ninja, rebel, etc) non-viable for me. The tw200 has been the first motorcycle I've seen that fits, but I do have some questions

  1. Would y'all recommend it to someone just starting out?

  2. I'm rural, live immediately off a highway and need to hit 0-60 time just pulling out of my driveway. Would it be able to regularly handle that? Daily use won't see over 60mph.

  3. How well does it handle mountain roads?

  4. Would it be able to handle short stents of slow lane 70mph highway during non busy times? There's some great off road trails pretty close but they're best reached via highway.

  5. Anything else I should be aware of?

Mx stand recommendation

If it’s stupid and works, it’s not stupid. But can anyone recommend a maintenance stand? Preferably one that is pretty compact as I have a pretty full garage/shop.

After browsing new seats for months ebay delivered.

Been browsing tw200 seats on ebay for months. Most people wanted $300 or more for a complete seat. I did take my seat to a local upholstery shop and they told me north of 300 bucks and the seat foam would be a different density working them together with the old foam. Found this one on ebay seller said it was re-upholstered a few years ago and sat in his garage since. $105 well spent.

Here are some pictures of the 2014 TW I just made an offer on. It's all original, with 48 miles. I offered $3500. We'll see what the owner says.

TL/DR: very noticeable power increase. I would recommend this set up.

I finally got to installing the stage 1 kit and carb insert. The stage 1 kit includes the airbox lid vent, carb jetting and exhaust.

The install for everything is pretty easy overall. Hardest part really was putting the carb back into the bike with the new carb insert. But with some finessing, it went in.

I can’t comment on the carb insert alone, but what a difference in low end power on this bike now. It’s very noticeable. I did the install with a friend, and he was able to notice the difference right away too. I also have no exhaust insert.

The bike accelerates faster and more torque is felt. This is the get up and go I was looking for in the bike. For me anyways, I’m more than happy with it all.

I did also install a thumbscrew for the fuel screw. I see why it’s such a quality of life improvement now.

I only did street riding so far. I am looking forward to doing sand pits and see what it can do off road.

Today riding up in central idaho mountains around 7000 feet. Riding my 1987 tw200. Would ride 8 miles or so and when im slowing coming to a stop and idling the bike would shut off. Turn the key no lights would turn on in the cluster. Had to kick it over which would fire first try. Idk if itd a stator issue or not. Finished the trip turned the key cluster turns on electric start worked. Haven't checked any wiring yet. Any ideas? Bike did fantastic otherwise with kicking it over. Start of the trip electric start worked fine.

So I had a question that I was having serious difficulty answering just from parts diagrams and such, so I figured I would see if any more experienced TDub owners knew the answer:

I recently switched to a 15/47 gearing, both new sprockets and a new chain, and it seems like the chain is position slightly differently in relation to the frame than it was with the stock gearing?

This wouldn't seem like it mattered, except it seems to be causing the chain to come into contact with this little nub/tab on the inner frame directly behind the shifter side foot peg? Which seems to be causing fine metal shavings to end up all over my chain and sprockets. I've tightened the chain as it seemed to have gained some slack as it broke in, which may solve the problem currently, and I haven't seen anyone else who's switched to 15/47 mention this issue or bring up needing to make any additional modifications with any kinds of chain guides or guards or anything else to prevent this happening, so I'm just curious if anyone else has run into this? Or if there is supposed to be some kind of rubber protection piece mounted behind the foot peg? The tab seems to have a groove along it as well, which makes it feel intentional and like perhaps there should be something there that is missing, but as I said, I haven't been able to find any diagram that mentions anything being in that space.

Thanks in advance for the help!

After years of riding my buddys TWs I finally decided to get one for myself last week. Went out and got her shoes wet for the first time yesterday.
