Maytag Powerboost - but what year?

Anyone have any insights into how old my stove might be? I have no idea. Just moved into an old Chicago 2-flat that I own. I suspect it works well enough, since I got no complaints from people who lived here before, but it's also possible that they don't bake much. The oven light works, miraculously, but assuming it does work, I would love to try and fix the clock, which does not, and get replacement control knobs with readable and correct settings (if possible). Thanks in advance!

MINI SURVIVAL STOVE BUILD

I have been building wood burners for a number of years of different styles and designs. All are variations of stoves built from repurposed water heaters or 55 or 30 gallon barrels. Here is a mini-stove I built designed as a patio heater / cooktop. I added doo-dads to give it a little industrial art look from stuff I scrounged here and there. The picture of the cooktop with so food cooking on it was sent to me by the gentleman who bought the stove from me.

A SURVIVAL STOVE BUILT FROM A REPURPOSED ELECTRIC WATER HEATER

So I built this survival stove out of a repurposed electric water heater. It was inspired by wood burners built by Navajo craftsmen I saw at a swap meet in Gallup, New Mexico on a trip I took to Albuquerque.

I saw stoves that had multi-purpose uses. They could heat and cook, some had copper tubes running into them attached to a water tank that could heat water.

This one heats, has a cook top and the top cylinder is a stove that heats up to 500 degrees F. I had a lot of fun building it.

Brand new Astra 32 high-efficiency fireplace smokes into the room

We had an Astra 32 high-efficiency wood-burning fireplace installed in fall and we've been using it since January. It starts great, burns hot and clean and for a long time on one load, and it heats the heck out of my house, but I am very limited as to when I can open the door without a small steady stream of smoke coming out. The window tends to get sooty very quickly too. Maybe that's just normal...? I find that I can only add wood when the fire is burning perfectly clean, and even then, air appears to be leaving the stove (I can see tiny airborne specks of ash) - it's just not smoky air.

The installer came out and saw nothing wrong, though he admitted he's not an expert on these units. He wondered if the little round chimney baffle in the top which opens when the door is opened isn't dropping to a totally vertical position...? I certainly don't know.

I visited the dealer the other day when I was in the city (72 miles from where I live) and he said he'd pass on my issues to one of their installers who would call me, but I'm not convinced that they are experienced with this particular stove - we chose it online and my contractor just put me in touch with a dealer who could get one. I don't know if they install these regularly. I'm desperate for an opinion from someone who knows this brand of fireplace specifically, or has had a similar fireplace experience.

  • I'm putting the levers in the correct position when opening.
  • I crack a nearby window and crack the fireplace door for a minute before opening further.
  • The chimney is clean and clear, and over 15 feet long (as specified in the manual).
  • My wood is very dry - 15% moisture or less.

Soot on the window after two days of burning (ignore that darker spot - wood fell against the glass)

Parts/history for this model

My parents bought this house in 99 (built in 68) and the stove has never EVER let us down. I believe this is still the original stove from the original owners.

Does anyone have any idea what make/model this one is?

The only words around it are “Eagle” and “Pilotless Ignition”

Also suggestions to cleaning it up(if possible) as well as repairing the porcelain(unsure of the material) at the top and front edge of the stovetop. Would like to look into the history of this brand and see if I can source anything for it, thank you! (First post ever on Reddit, please don’t grill me too hard)
