Frustrated with this game.

I want to preface this with the fact I loved the first game and I really like this entry so far. However, I am frustrated with some of the choices developers have made.

Exploration rewards: they suck. Why are all saber crystals unlocked from the start? No, lock them in chests! Why are we given dual wield and double sided from the start of the game, lock one of them in a chest which can be missed if you don’t explore. This would reward exploration and incentivise players to explore.

Next Exploration itself is contradictory, I love going off the beaten track, and in this game I like how you can miss a lot of areas if you don’t explore, BUT why am I spending time exploring only to find out that I can’t progress anymore as I don’t have the right ability. Sometimes you can with the right traversal but it’s not always obvious if the player should keep trying or come back later when the necessary ability has been unlocked. I know its “Metroidvania” but the design leaves you feeling annoyed instead of excited to come back later.

Next is hit boxes. Raider Smashers have insane hit boxes and move-set that feel stupid to fight. Reprogrammed Magnaguard had way better hit boxes and move set that was somewhat challenging but fun.

Cool Wanderer fit detail

When you wear the Wanderer outfit, BD-1 will tuck himself into the backpack when Cal is idling. Just a fun little observation

Hated him from the start

I havnt finished the game yet but Ive just been betrayed by Bode. Is it just me or did everyone else see this coming from the start of the game aswell?

When the game starts with Cal’s new team and every single member gets killed one at a time except Bode I knew he was a spy, I’ll admit I didn’t see it coming with him being force sensitive but it was way to obvious that he was an informant from the very start. There was like 2 missions somewhere in the first few hours I thought maybe I was wrong but immediately he started acting sus again. Anyone else?

Has there ever been an explanation/reason for why the ISB uniform was never made available? Also, what happened to the Scrapper outfit?

I'm just wondering if there was ever a reason/something said about why they didn't make the ISB uniform available?

Didn't the same thing, basically, happen with the first game and the Inquisitor Cal outfit?

Also, what happened to the Scrapper outfit? Who had the bright idea to make the pants two different colors?

I really don't know which is more confusing, not adding the ISB uniform after what happened the first game or completely changing one of the few items carried over from the first game.

Bode killshot was a mistake

I understand the logic from a lot of people who really like that Cal uses the blaster he got from Bode to kill him, and that you can interpret the second shot as a mercy killing or a sign that Cal is battling his inner demons.

But thematically I think it would have had far more impact if Cal rejected the blaster he was given by Bode because it now represents another step on the slippery slope to becoming him. Bode presents us with his thoughts on Jedi traditions, encouraging us to break from them, and the blaster is the clearest representation of that. Rejecting it could have shown Cal walking right up to the edge, and stepping back down. It would be far more impactful to see how the blaster ultimately fails Bode and shows Cal what relying on it will get him as well even beyond the slide to the dark side.

The cutscenes throughout the game already rely on the blaster too much in my opinion, and this would have been a nice change even without the thematic elements. The fact Cal becomes reliant on it and watches the person who gave it to him show his true colours AND ultimately lose because the blaster broke would be a good moment of reflection. I also feel like it would have finally given us a more satisfying boss ending, as most are either a bit of luck or using the blaster. Decisively cutting Bode down would have been visually more impressive.

In a revised version of the ending we could see Bode almost killing his daughter with the blaster by accident (Jedi don't use blasters because you can't take it back once you've fired and it's too easy to kill with one, this would be a good reminder of that) and then later the blaster breaks as it does normally. Cal instead looks at his blaster in disgust and throws it aside. Bode either tries to rush him or force grabs the blaster so Cal has to cut him down with a single decisive blow (sliced in half, impaled or beheaded preferably, not even necessarily gory so that's a non-issue). This way he rejects the blaster, symbolically throwing away the temptation and recognising that it was taking him down a dark path. And we get a more epic killing blow, it's Star Wars the lightsabers are the best bit.

Alternatively they could keep the ending almost exactly the same but Cal throws his blaster on the ground or towards Bode's corpse in disgust because he sees what it represents and the philosophy that led them both here. He realistically wouldn't want it anymore and his talk with Merrin about resisting the dark side on the way in sort of clashes with how calm and chill they are during the actual fight.

Tl;dr It would have been a stronger narrative moment if Cal threw away the blaster during or immediately after the fight because it represents the philosophy that led Bode to this point and Cal doesn't want to end up like him.

Blaster is way too cheesy

I just reached >!the second Dagan Gera boss fight!< and the whole fight I just spammed blaster and kept parrying his floating lightsaber to get lots of hits in. It works so well for many other bosses too, at this point I’m just questioning my decision to invest into crossguard for boss fights lmao.

How much time do you think passes during the missions and travel?

I noticed something, from the time Cal leaves to investigate the array until he returns, the Mantis is repaired and Pyloon's is completely refurbished.

How long do you think it took him to reach the array and return?

Also, how long do you think it takes to travel from Koboh to Jedha? Coruscant?

I'm not trying to suggest the time it took to refurbish Pyloon's has any relation to the time it took to complete the mission.

That was just an observation I found interesting.

I'm really curious about other opinions on the (generally speaking) time spent on missions and travel times.

What?

There's literally no land there, and whenever I switch from floor to floor the collectibles disappear. I'm in the Sodden Grotto Mine. If anyone knows how to get there and wants to help me, I'm trying to 100% the game

Narkis Anchorite

One of the Narkis Anchorites of the Hidden Path found in the archive area. I like the design of these. They blend in really well and there are more around than you think once you start looking.
Captured in photo mode on PS5.

Bounty pucks

Ok so I kinda spoiled it for myself about Boba making a surprise entrance in this game and I realized I'm missing 2 more bounty pucks but I only have 1 bounty left to collect. Being the perfectionist I am and before I ruin anything is this how it's supposed to be before I fight caij or am I missing a puck somewhere? I wanna get all the pucks before I fight her and buying everything at the shop so I'm wondering if I messed or of this is how it's supposed to be

Achievements

Living legend was a lot easier to get than the force tears. Yeah the oggdo boss battles were hard but the force tear with both of them was even worse. Screw the force tears, they were painstakingly worse than the legendary enemies. Blood sweat and tears is aptly named
