Ticks in Stawamus Chief?

Hi everyone, my friends and I are going to hike Chief next week (likely just peaks 1 & 2). I am from Ontario so there’s a lot of talk about ticks here, but I haven’t heard much regarding BC.

Has anyone ever had ticks from hiking Chief, or from being in that area? If so, what do you recommend wearing? Other posts say wear shorts and a t-shirt this time of year, but if there’s ticks should I wear pants?

Thanks, I really appreciate anyone’s input!

Anyone know these folks and speak whatever language they do in Iran?

Two people showed up to the river and started dumping in fish. I asked what kind of fish they were and was met with “no English” would love someone to compassionately ask them what they were doing. And what kind of spells they were casting. What the fuck is happening to this country where we can just say no English and carry on with whatever the fuck you’d want to do.

Great Bear Rainforest exhibition coming to Squamish

Hey Squamish,

I’m a local photographer who has spent years documenting spirit bears and other incredible creatures of our coastal Great Bear Rainforest.

I’m excited to announce the release of my new book alongside a special exhibition at the Brackendale Art Gallery on June 3rd at 7pm.

The evening will feature large-format prints, stories from the field, books available for purchase, and a chance to meet in person and have your copy signed.

Tickets to the exhibition are free and no purchases are necessary.

Click here to secure your tix!

I’d love to see you there.

Squamish Canyons

First they killed the zone, now they’re killing the bears.

edit: to update I did let bylaw and rapp know, bylaw asked for photo/video and is also talking to CO’s.

i’m planning on reaching out in the short term but to avoid sticker shock… how much does a wedding at the following venues (venue rental only) cost:
- gondola
- glacier valley
- chekamus center?

if anyone has an idea of $ for open bar at each / liquor packages i’d be keen to know this also. thanks!

Screws in tires

Hi all. Found out there were a few screws went into my tires two days ago. Went to the tire shop today and they said I am not the first one. Does anyone had the same situation? Those screws were all square screws. Pretty sure it happens in Squamish because I only drove between highlands and garibaldi estates these few days.

Experience with listing your residence on airbnb

Does anyone have recent experience with listing your primary residence in Squamish on airbnb? Is it worth the hassle? (getting a license, dealing with renters, cleaning, securing important/private things in your home)

I have heard through the grapevine that renting your place out can be quite lucrative depending on the place and the time of year. We would only be doing it for a week or two at a time, and just a few times per year when we're away on trips. Interested to get feedback from others who have done this recently, either positive or negative.

Can I hire someone to fold clothes and organise closets?

My wife and I are swamped with work and have 2 boys under 2. The mountain of clothes is becoming overwhelming and we neither of us have time to do it properly

Is it a good time to Hike Stawamus Chief.

Hey guys,

I’m based in Vancouver and have been doing some local hikes recently. Noticed there’s still a bit of snow on trails at higher elevations, and it’s been making things pretty slippery in spots.

I’m thinking about doing The Chief next weekend (saturday) but wanted a reality check what are the current conditions like up there? Any snow/ice on the trails or near the chains? Is it manageable with regular hiking shoes or do I need spikes?

Not trying to show up unprepared and regret it halfway up.

Where can i shred personal paper work I no longer need in squamish?

Does anywhere have a public shredding service so I can safely destroy old paper work I don’t need?

Mamquam FSR dust control

Does anyone know what they are using on the road and why it smells like hot garbage? That strong smell really had me wondering this morning.

Squamish MTB looking for buddies

Hey! I'm visiting Squamish this summer and i'll be here until the end of June! I would love to find buddies that would like to ride Squamish or Whistler - either during the week after work or on the weekends!

Back home in Quebec I ride most double blacks but up here might be more blacks! However, I am open to riding anything!

Also speak french!
