What service does Spectrum Mobile use?

I’ve been thinking about switching but I keep seeing mixed answers online. Does it run off Verizon towers or does it have its own network?

Has anyone used Spectrum Mobile internationally? How well did it work?

Traveling soon and thinking about using Spectrum Mobile internationally instead of getting a local SIM. Just curious how well it actually works in real life.

Did you get decent data/service? Any issues with calls or texts? Also wondering if the charges ended up being reasonable or if there were surprise fees.

Would appreciate hearing your experience — good or bad — and what country you used it in.

Spectrum phone customer service is actually impressive

Not gonna lie, I was expecting a headache when I had to contact Spectrum Mobile support but the rep I talked to was actually super helpful and fixed my issue way faster than I expected.

I know people usually only post bad experiences, so I figured I’d share a positive one for once lol

First bill after free year is $40, not $30?

I did the free year and then $30/line unlimited after that. My first bill arrived today. It’s for $40! I’m so mad! What happened to the deal I signed up for?

Spectrum carrier change?

I've heard from a reliable source that Spectrum will be switching carriers from Vzn to Tmo in the next few months, as their contract with Vzn is nearing its end. Anyone else heard this? Supposed to be a seamless change to users? For e-sims that's prolly true.

Spectrum mobile trade in

Has anyone here actually done the Spectrum Mobile trade in program? I’m thinking about upgrading my phone through them but I’m kinda nervous after reading some posts online about delayed credits and lower trade in values My current phone is still in really good condition so I don’t wanna get screwed over lol. Did the process go smoothly for you guys and did you get the amount they originally offered?

Need assistance activating Spectrum mobile

Hi everyone, I’m needing assistance activating Spectrum Mobile. I’ve tried setting it up but I’m running into issues getting the service activated properly. If anyone has experience with the activation process or can help troubleshoot, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I took advantage of the $700 trade in for Samsung s26. Do they offer this deal with other phones when there released or do you regularly see this only with Samsung? I lowkey want to try the Google pixel next.

Locked iPhone received from Apple for Apple care replacement

So Apple gave me a “defective phone that” doesn’t work as a replacement on my Apple Care. Spectrum said the SIM is locked and there is nothing they can do. Apple says the SIM is not locked. I’m livid. I’ve been fighting this since 6pm yesterday. I’m exhausted. Now I have a worthless phone I’m paying on. Is there anything I can do?? Going back to Apple today but I think they’re just gonna tell me it’s not locked again. Idk what to do. Spectrum said it’s absolutely locked and Apple is saying it’s carrier locked TO SPECTRUM??

Anyone here filed a Spectrum Mobile insurance claim?

I just cracked my phone screen and haven’t dealt with an insurance claim before. I’m curious how long it usually takes for approval and replacement. Did you get a replacement quickly, or was it a slow process? Any tips to make it smoother would be awesome because I really don’t want to be without my phone for long.

I've been looking at plans again and leaning toward unlimited mainly because I stream a lot and I'm always paranoid about going over. But I can never get a straight answer on what the monthly total actually looks after taxes and fees are added in.

Also wondering if adding if adding a second line makes it feel more worth it price wise, like does the per line cost drop enough to make it a no brainer or is it not that big of a difference?

Hello,

I have a question about Spectrum Mobile Unlimited Plus plan. Considering switching to Spectrum Mobile.

I read that this plan includes 50GB/month. If I travel outside the US, it has free international roaming? Does it mean that I can browse the internet, make/receive voice calls for free while outside the US? What's the catch? Would like to hear some feedback from someone who has this plan and did a recent trip outside the US.

Edit 1: Did anyone perform a speed test while outside the US?

Thanks

my phone screen is cracked bad and i need to replace it soon. trying to figure out if paying the full price upfront is smarter than spreading it out monthly.

feels like it probably comes out the same either way but i honestly have no idea. anyone done this recently and have thoughts?

Story on how I lowered internet bill after promo ended and adding phones not "supported" by Spectrum

So my Spectrum bill jumped from $60 for 1gig internet + $20 single phone with unlimited to 140$ after the promo ended. Absolutely no way i'm paying that so I called around different ISPs and decided I wanted to try brightspeed since they have a free trial and cancel my spectrum. So i call spectrum up rep is friendly but when I said i was switching providers dude said he had to transfer me

The girl he transferred me to would NOT let me cancel like at all. spent a solid 10 minutes basically shitting on Brightspeed..how they aren't true fiber etc and doing anything in her power to not get me to cancel... like... she was aggressive when i said I just wanted to cancel... I honestly already had my mind made up but I just said if they can just lower my bill back to what it was i'll do that cause she was kinda scaring me ngl.. how spectrum trains these guys idk but I guess it worked

Ending up getting the same speeds but for 40 bucks for 2 years but the only catch is she has to send me a spectrum router and I have to add another spectrum phone line that would be free for a year. Not sure if these will bite me in the future figured 40 for internet and 20 for two phones is pretty good

So i go shopping for phones for my wife to add the new line she wanted to try something other than Samsung/iphone, so we picked up a OnePlus 13R off eBay for ~$399 (listed refurbished but looked brand new). Phone is pretty damn smooth but not sure on the longevity with security updates and with the whole one plus leaving US.. felt i might have made a mistake on that

Anyway I called spectrum mobile but did not realize if your not a select few popular brands (a they will say they don't support the phone and won't even send you a sim card to try. So I had a old iphone laying around and just used that and asked for a physical sim. Dude said he cannot do it because the device was e-sim compatible and that I would need to go to a spectrum store. I just said I understand ended the call,

started up the chat and had the sim shipped out using the old iphone IMEI

Once i got the sim I popped it into the iphone then moved the sim to the new op13r it has been working great so far for a week.

Anyways just wanted to share my experience. Anyone else have experience with swapping the sim to unsupported devices? Wondering if I should just rock it out or return it.

Anyone here actually snag a good spectrum cellphone deal lately? I'm paying way too much on the other carrier and spectrum keeps mailing me special offers that feel kinda vague. I just need one line with decent coverage and maybe hotspot for road trips. Any tops here?

Anyone else skeptical of Spectrum’s $5 protection plan? I’m worried it only covers screens while the $10 tier handles the real damage. Has anyone actually filed a claim for an iPad lately? I'd hate to pay monthly and still get denied.

Seriously been trying to get someone on the line for three days now about a billing issue and I just keep getting bounced around. I dont know if its a staffing thing or what but it never used to be this bad. Finally got through yesterday and the person I spoke to could not even see the notes from my last call so I had to explain everything again from scratch. Just wanted to know if other people are dealing with the same thing or if I just have bad luck with timing.

How do I do this?

Here’s why I’m wanting to do. Just not sure if I can do it. I have spectrum now and owe nothing on my phone. I want to switch to Tmobile in a few months and they have an $800 buyout if you owe on a phone when you switch to them. So… I want to use that to get a new phone before we leave. The S26U is 1299 normally, but 300 off right now, so 999. I want to get the phone and pay it off, and get it unlocked after 60 days to take with me. Might as well since Tmobile is offering it.

The question is though, how do I do that without losing out on the $300 off? Tmobile simply requires a bill pdf showing…””current phone's previous carrier's financing details, including - phone number, phone make&model, phone payment balance, phone financing start date (showing 90 days with prior carrier or number of payments made) and prior carrier’s name””

So seems I shouldn’t pay the phone off the day that I get it, I should buy the phone and let it go in as the 36 month installment and then pay it off, no?

What would be the best / easiest way to do this?

I thought I had read that unless I fully wait the 36 months out to get those incremental credits, that I’d lose out on them depending on when I pay it off fully, but maybe that was a different carrier.

I got a phone through my ex who worked at spectrum and got me a discount. The service barely functioned so I wanted to switch services and only pay them for the cost of the device.
Well, she flew off the handle and locked me out of the account (I had previously had access, but guess I wasn’t the primary holder). I called my bank and blocked them from charging my card anymore so I’m not paying for a useless device, but in the meantime, I can’t get new service on the device because it’s sim is carrier locked to Spectrum, something illegal in canada and mostly banned in the EU but Americans just can’t get enough enshittification so here I am with this problem spectrum has conjured out of thin air. I called spectrum to see if I could pay off the phone and have it unlocked, but as I was removed from the account, they wouldn’t tell me anything, despite my card being on file. Now she’s gonna be stuck with the remaining debt (I paid off about half of it as well as the service) but she seems willing to be in debt to spite me, it was messy.

I was looking into r-sim, but the sources I found seemed like scams. Any advice here beyond “treat it like a fancy ipod you spend hundred on, and spend hundreds on a new phone”? It’s a US based iphone 16 so there is not tray for a physical sim. I’ve thought about going to a sketchy phone shop to see if they’ll install a sim tray, but being tied to the imei, I doubt that would even work.
