Blooded out
Decided to see what I could do with these cherries and got rid of the Ronald collab. Died the stitching and black polish with a couple buffs
Is Squiggy a Bonehead/White-Power-Skinhead band? I'm trying to avoid racist Oi! bands.
I really like a few of their songs but I saw a few people saying they were sketchy, they also covered a song from Romper Stomper. It would be weird considering how they toured with the notoriously anti-fascist band The Oi! Scouts. I know they're skinheads but I know there's a lot of anti-racist skinheads (SHARP, Trojan Skins, etc.) and don't want to assume. I wanna know if they're a safe band.
Spirit of '69 - A Skinhead Bible
A great read.
It covers all basis on being a skinhead and everything about the scene.
-The Windrush Generation.
-Jamaican ska/reggae music.
-The many different music labels.
-The clothes and style.
-Dr Marten boots.
-The do's and the don'ts.
-The stigma the scene had and still has today.
-Working class.
-The run ins with the law.
-Football, hooliganism and violence.
-The rise of 2-Tone.
-The rise of Oi!
-S.H.A.R.P
-Racism, fascism, boneheads and the left / far-right political parties.
Punx & Skinz Unity
Honestly SICK and TIRED of all the FENCEWALKERS on here badmouthing our green haired brotherz/sisterz from the Punk scene. We are all ONE! Can we have an open, honest, respectful discussion on HOW we are so different? Because I see no difference between the two.
Skingirl mattress actresses
Since everyone's so offended at my amazing humorous posts here's one that's skinhead related and real. Cadence St. John was an actress back in the day, got quite a few scene related tats. Second chick is Aayla Secura. One of my best friends dated her for a while back in the day after they met on the subway. Pretty Oi! right? She was a tall ass dame, over 6 feet for sure and my buddy was about 5'5" but super ripped lol.
Anybody believe in separating art from artists?
I mean in general with music, and really want to hear other peoples opinions on this kinda thing, I discovered a lot of Oi music because I was into skinhead stuff for awhile and discovered Bands like Youth Defense League, New Glory, The Uprise are patriotic anti-communist bands, don't have any name-calling or racist music.
I hardly need to separate art from artists with them specifically. But they're all nationalist and slightly problematic.
Mostly with Oi punk/thrash, there is lots of Neo-Nazis, White Nationalist, Racists.
Most of white power music I've heard is trash, tbh. It mostly sounds like AC/DC clones and/or generic bar rock or metal, but with racist lyrics, and just sucks in general.
That's mostly the case, but not always. Screwdriver has some good music before they turned into a racist band. Not all the original members are racist. Even after their non-racist days, they have one or two good songs.
What's your guys opinion on separating art from artists with a band such as that?
Screwdriver isn't even as bad as a band called No Remorse.
No Remorse is mostly garbage, imo. They're a Nazi punk and rock band, and most their songs are just hateful.
They seem almost cartoonishly hateful/racist, if that makes sense. Most their music sucks and isn't even rebellious.
However, they have a really good song called They Stand Alone, about Palestinians fighting against Israel. Their song Flame That Never Dies isn't too bad either.
They Stand Alone is the very first I've ever heard of them, and thought they'd be similar to a band like Angelic Upstarts, because that song reminds me of Guns for the Afghan Rebels.
I checked them out, and they're the most racist band of all time.
Is it impossible to separate art from artists in such a case? I'm not seeking validation on the subject but wanna hear others take.
DIY Gripfast Resole
So I ordered these from the old White & Co (the former makers before Solovair)site back in 2001 and they were pretty beat up. I’d cut them from 14 eye to 10 eye about 20 years ago (I regret this), I was missing some eyelets, the leather was damaged due to poor care, and the sole was split and severely worn out. I wanted to get them fixed but kept getting turned down, or given prices I couldn’t afford so I decided to give it a go myself.
I added all new internals, resewed some loose threads and dyed the stitching yellow (it was really wonky looking and ugly once cleaned and I wanted to test out this yellow fabric dye I had). I then contact cemented a Vibram unit on (I initially wanted to get a Gripfast unit from the site but I was able to get the Vibrams for half off) and changed all the eyelets (I kinda feel like they are too big but it’s what I had) except the top ones because how they were cut wouldn’t fit. Lastly I sanded, conditioned, and refinished the lower body, vamp and toe and then redyed and polished. The soles trim could be cleaner but I was hand sanding, but I think it turned out pretty well. I’ve walked several miles in them and everything is holding so far. Still a work in progress. I’m contemplating cutting them to a 9 eyelet and putting a trim around the top for a cleaner look. Cheers
Can ya see it?
Don’t let those guys steal our lace colours, there’s no lace code.
OMG you can’t wear that colour Fred Perry because those guys used it.
Attention freshcuts
I know y'all moan about getting a shine on your boots and complain that Saphir and selvyt cloths are so fucking expensive but this is what you can accomplish with just a $10 horse hair brush and some $12 parade gloss and 15 minutes of work. If you can afford a pair of boots worth shining, you can afford the $22 it'll take to do the job.
Also note that this is just the first coat overall, second on the caps. It gets better and slicker with each coating, so do this once a day for a week and even with cheap products you'll have a nice finish going.
