For absolutely no good reason other than pure random curiosity that just struck-what’s everyone’s profession in this sub?

You never know who you might connect with!

Edit: Wow, I did not expect this many replies-loving reading what everyone does! It’s so interesting seeing all the different fields here. You really never know what connections might come from it. A little anon virtual networking never hurt anyone lol

Most of my girlfriends have moved out of state, so it’s been me, myself and I for almost a year now. I have plenty guy friends and live with 3 males, so I really need some female energy again. It’s been so impossible making female friends because alot of people I’ve met seem to already have a circle that’s closed off. I tried Bumble BFF, but 99% of the women there don’t respond and/or are never willing to meet 😔

I’m a huge foodie and love to go out for a bite and a drink. I love a good game night in hanging out. Also love being out fishing, paddleboarding, etc. my boyfriend and I always rent a boat at Lake Pleasant every summer and get a little group together if that sounds fun to anyone else! If you wanna travel, I’m your girl. I’m a pretty easy going person and am down for almost anything other than raving/clubbing. Anything food related or drinks at a lounge/bar is right up my alley.

Bestie where you attt

Edit: There’s been several other intentions that I’ve received from this post… why guys lol I think my post is clear. I’m not interested in 3 somes, swinging, or anything of the sort.

I’ve lived there in town for a year now, but still have a very small social circle. I miss going out. Where would you recommend to a 35F to go out alone? Either casual or more dressy. I’m in the Old Town area, but wouldn’t mind venturing out a bit.

Mothers Day Buffet

Went to this rather small Mother’s Day brunch buffet (alcohol not included) with a pretty limited food selection. Seems pretty steep even for Scottsdale. Any other better options to consider for next year?

EDIT: since none of you incels can read and have no compassion, I’m not talking about going after them. I made no mention of taking legal action against them. I’m not trying to sue, I’m just trying to be familiar with the laws. I want to make sure they’re doing everything that they are legally obligated to do, and know my rights as a tenant. It’s the fact that this happened in sub-100 temperatures and they have made no attempt to find a solution quicker. There are dozens of electricians in the area that we could call- or they could call- to get this resolved sooner than [unknown time] tomorrow. 48 hours without A/C in this heat is most definitely an emergency that should be taken seriously. If our power went out tomorrow and we had to wait until Thursday, we’d just eat it, and deal with it. It’s going to be 80 and cooler the next 3 days- that is a stark difference in temperature to be without A/C than 95 degrees. Jesus, people. Use some reading comprehension PLEASE.

My power went out last night, and I’ve been without a/c or electricity since about 4:30pm yesterday. Property management said that someone would come by last night but they weren’t sure about the window. Then after we got no updates and had to email management ourselves for one, they called saying that someone likely wouldn’t come out until tomorrow. This was at 9:30/10pm. It’s 95 degrees out, we have pets. They offered to reimburse us for a hotel for the day (last night) but we have cats- I don’t want to put them through the stress of moving to an unfamiliar hotel, if we could even find one that would allow us to stay in a room with 3 cats. My roommate took hers to her parents house in Phoenix, mine and I are staying home. I tried to call and ask if we could get our own to come out and was told no because they have “warranties and contracts”… it’s 95 degrees. There has to be some law here in Arizona that protects tenants in extreme heat in situations like this?? What can I do?
They also offered $200 in next months rent for the inconvenience … that doesn’t even cover all of our groceries that are going to go bad from this. I’m putting up a fight for more but I don’t know how much to ask for - anyone have suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

My daughter wants to have her wisdom teeth removed early summer over college break. We weren’t thrilled with the surgeon who did my son’s teeth (he is in west valley…). He wasn’t terrible but my son got an infection and had to go back a few times to have bone chips removed. Hoping to avoid that this time.

Any recommendations? Thanks.

My best friend won a screenwriting contest with a magazine and is being honored for it tonight. Afterwards, my friends and I wanna take her to dinner to celebrate. Does anyone know a cool spot that has kind of formal vibes but isn't super expensive? She likes all kinds of food.

Looking for some insight into Desert Mountain High School and Chaparral High School for a transfer student coming from Paris. Would love to hear perspectives on cultures, academics, potential friendliness towards an international French student moving to AZ, sports, etc.

For background, our 14-year-old daughter has been attending a very rigorous private school in Paris and is proficient in English. She’s excited about having a “typical American high school experience,” but we also want to make sure she’ll be in a supportive and well-balanced environment.

She’s social, kind, polite, and bright- still a bit innocent in the best way (hasn’t grown up too fast), and genuinely just a great kid who’s excited to integrate and make friends.

We’re particularly interested in Desert Mountain because of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, especially for the potential to keep doors open for both U.S. and French/EU universities. That said, I’ve seen that Chaparral is often ranked slightly higher, so I’d love to hear any perspective on the differences in school culture, academics, and overall environment between the two. We’re located near both, so logistics aren’t a concern.

Also- does anyone know if students need to test into the IB program at Desert Mountain before enrolling, or how that process typically works? I’ll be going to tour both schools as well.

Open to any additional school recommendations as well, but focusing on Desert Mountain due to IB.

Separately, I’d love thoughts on Arizona International School for our 12-year-old son. His English is still developing, and he’s found the intensity of his current Paris school a bit challenging. He’s incredibly kind, social, funny, very talented in sports, and would benefit from a more supportive transition academically while continuing to build confidence in English.

For context, I’m not looking for negative experiences- just thoughtful insight into school cultures and what might be the best fit based on their personalities and backgrounds.

Thanks so much in advance.

Hi all! I have been searching spots all over the west coast to go see Noah Kahan with my girlfriend (surprise birthday gift). It is roughly 1,200 dollars to see him in NY, but 300 to see in PHX at Chase Field. So I thought about making a trip out of it. What are some nice hotels that people recommend that are not wildly expensive (500~) for 4 nights. With airfare, hotel, rental car and tickets I would be all in around 1500 or so.

I understand that it is August and its going to be HOT. Any recommendations while visiting would be great! And for anyone that is a runner, I am marathon training during this trip sooo please any advice would be helpful! Thank you!

Looking for smaller hole-in-the-wall gyms (so not EoS, Planet Fitness, LAFitness, Mountainside, etc.) with a smaller and more "serious" atmosphere. No disrespect to EoS or any of those gyms, I've used those for years, but I like the gritty and "dingey" vibes of smaller, more old-school gyms.

Anyone have the deets on activity near camelback and Miller area?

There has been a helicopter circling for hours. Scottsdale pd X says something about active shooting scene.

Edit: looks like they just apprehended someone around 5 am.

Edit: got word from my friend that lives on that street... There were police dogs that appear to have actively engaged, and one neighbor found blood in their backyard after a suspect was taken out.

Living off of busy road?

Hi all,

To those that live on a busy road like Shea, Cactus, Scottsdale, or Hayden..

What is the sound like inside your house? What kind of upgrades did you make to reduce the car noise?

I wanted to take my mom to Din Tai Fung, but I heard it’s hard to get a reservation. Does anyone know any other places in the Scottsdale area that look modern and have good Chinese food?

In Scottsdale for one more night. Looking for some good shrimp (or chicken) Alfredo. Any recommendations? We are in north Scottsdale but don’t mind traveling to the downtown area.
