UK - Renault Scenic Techno esprit Alpine

Hi all,

been lurking on these forums for a few weeks now since I went to our local Renault dealer to look at the Renault 4. Was sure this was the car for us (family of 5) after reading the reviews. However, that plan was kayboshed when I struggled to get in the thing (6ft, 17 stone, stiff back) and the kids complained about leg space in the back.

The had a Renault Scenic Techno esprit Alpine in white, brand new, that had just arrived. We sat in that and what a difference. Plenty rear space. No trouble getting in and out. A lot more money.

So came home and started reading the reviews, lurking here, and am pretty certain we'll go for a Scenic. Have seen some second hand ones from £29.995 2025 ones down to £26,995 for a 2024. Will likely be an outright purchase and I tend to drive cars until they need scrapping so not looking at PCP or PCH options

Have had some correspondence with a Renault dealer and they seem a bit confused, as I am, on any differences between a 2024 model and a 2025 model (is the term MY24, MY25, MY 26 in Renault speak?).

I've downloaded the manuals from Renault for each year which seem to indicate that true One Pedal driving (the one that brings you to a complete stop) is available on all years' models. Reading this forum makes me think that's not the case. Could a 2024 UK model support true One Pedal driving without having to touch the brake? Was only considering the 2025 model initially due to OPD. Are there any other differences to be aware of? Any differences between a 25 and a 75 plate in terms of features. I see that the 7x plates run across two years (Sep-Feb) so I'm not even too sure if I can tell the year of the car from just the reg.

They also have some with the matt paint which I believe is (or was) the more expensive option. I'm put off by the claims of scratches and damage from bird poo associated with matt paint. Anyone with a matt paint scenic able to tell me not to worry? Have seen a few matt paint cars going around, not Renault, and I'm not sure I like the look anyway.

I'd have loved a Iconic for the cameras and sunroof option, but more money and not too many of them around.

The dealer is also offering to supply an Anderson Quartz charger, fitted, for about a grand. Anyone have experience of these? Good? Bad? Indifferent. I've worked out I'll need a 6.5m cable to reach the parking space and also will need a pavement gully fitted.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers

Top of my shoe is catching on the plastic trim above the brake pedal...

Drove a Secnic today on a test drive. All very nice except for the fact that the end / top of my shoe kept catching the top of the plastic trim above the brake pedal. No issue on the accelerator, just the brake.

It seems like such a minor issue but I genuinely think it could be dangerous if I can't brake in an emergency. It's enough to put me off...

Anyone else had this issue and have a solution?

I've moved the seat around but no luck.

Mechanische Qualität/Erfahrungen

Hallo zusammen,

Danke

I'm in the UK and looking at new / used / personal lease options, but must have the panoramic roof therefore Iconic trim.

Here new (2025 onward) Scenic Ionics are limited to black, grey, white -- a dealer admitted he didnt understand why "so monochrome". I've seen a used 2024 Iconic in red.

I assume this is to help manufacturing with fewer combinations -- whether sales arent high enough to risk surplus, or other reason.

I'm hoping a reader has further insight as to whether more options are being planned, or anything pertinent relevant to this, thanks!

My Scenic is linked to Octopus intelligent go through the mobilize app. The mobilize app is set up to charge to 80pc. Today however it decided to go all the way to full.

Is this likely to be an issue with mobilize or OIG? This is the first time I've had this behaviour. It's possible the connection between the two parties had a whoopsie and the SOC couldn't be retrieved but hmm.

I did want to go to full tomorrow night anyway but now I'm worried (as much as five quid overspending can worry anyone) I've stuck an extra 20kWh into my battery at peak prices. Thankfully the app is set to smart charge only but not sure Octopus will see it that way.

And this morning car was charged - to 81% not to the 80% set in the octopus app but what’s 1% between friends.

one small issue the octopus app is still showing a problem

find out more just says ’vehicle was unplugged so we couldn’t give it a full charge’ - which it wasn’t and they did!

Anyway good news OIG now working with my Scenic ( based on a sample of one charge).
