We have a beautiful skyline.
Not the best quality from my iPhone, but thought I would share a quick photo of downtown Salt Lake from the plane window while approaching the airport. Traveling is fun, but there is no place like home.

Hello! My boyfriend will be going to a work training in slc for about 2 months and I was rlly hoping to visit. I just wanted to ask if slc is generally safe for a woman to be walking around solo during the day. He will be at work everyday from 8-5 so I would prefer not sitting at the hotel that whole time lol. Also, if it is generally fine I would love any suggestions for where I should go to and what I should see during my time! I am from the east coast so literally everything will be new to me
Edit: I will be staying right across from the airport since that is where he will be staying for work, so I will probably be ubering around
I recently got yelled at by a cross walk guard in a school zone because I switched lanes. I properly signaled and the merge itself was executed safely. They told me "You can't switch lanes!" as I was driving by. Ive never heard of a law like this before so I tried searching for it online. I can't find anything regarding lane switching in a school zone in Utah. Would anyone happen to know if this is a law? I would like to know for the future.
Here's another photo of downtown Salt Lake City looking south - east. This time views are from the 25th floor of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Love the addition of the Astra Tower ( Tall white tower near the center in the back ) that is our new tallest building in Utah. Hope to see more towers ( taller ones that are less boxy ) in the coming years.
I found this Iphone hiking in cottonwood. It surprisingly turns on still, it looks pretty rough.
I've tried every trick I can to find the owner
siri passcode protected
no emergency contacts
phone has no cellular
The sticker is pretty distinct so hopefully that will help locate the owner.
If you are the owner or know the owner please provide two of the following
serial number
IMEI
trail where it was found
the lock screen photo
Passing through Salt Lake here soon and I’ve been on the road, craving loaded nachos. Who had the best nachos in town??
does anyone know any trustworthy mechanics in the slc/west valley/taylorsville or surrounding areas that won’t try to push unnecessary or more expensive than needed fixes on me? my check engine light came on right when I was about to get my emissions done this month and now I can’t get them done until the light is off.
I just want to know what’s wrong and the simplest and cheapest solution without having to worry i’m being scammed since i don’t know anything about cars🥲 i planned to sell off this car anyways, but i want to fix whatever is causing the check engine light first.
i have a list of codes that my car gave, but i didn’t want to get my car fixed at the shop that gave them to me and i’m not sure which one is causing the light. they weren’t very helpful😭
any advice and recommendations would be very appreciated!
Came across this in Sugarhouse today. If it wasn’t intentional, would the state let you get a new plate for free if you pointed this out?
Alright everyone, I posted here last week asking for first date dinner ideas in SLC and it went great 🙌
Now we’re going out again this week in the evening and I want to switch it up a bit. I’m not from Utah and don’t get into SLC much, so I could use some help again.
Looking for something fun but still laid back where we can actually talk (so not super loud or intense). We’ll only have about 1 hour–1 hour 20 minutes, and neither of us drink, so no bar-type stuff.
Open to anything like dessert spots, quick activities, scenic walks, etc. just something a little more interesting than sitting at dinner again.
Appreciate any suggestions 🙏
Hi, I'm 17 year old girl and I really struggle with work. I currently work at a busy restaurant as a food prep worker and it's very stressful for me and overwhelming and it has been causing a lot of stress in my life. I don't like loud sounds or working under a lot of pressure. I also have experience working in a warehouse type situation. I didn't mind it but the pay was just bad...
Workers or employers of SLC, any suggestions for laid back jobs that would be suitable for an autistic teen part time? I am in high school so it would need to be an afternoon or weekend job. I don't care what the work kind is as long as the pay isn't terribly bad and it's not an overwhelming environment.
Thanks for reading!
Okay so my current favorite fries are from Spitz. However they are not gluten free and I still eat them because I can’t resist but pay the price. What are your top favorite fries specific to SLC?
Looking for a place with outdoor seating for Mother’s Day. I have a newborn who will not have gotten vaccinated yet and want to avoid eating in a crowded dining room especially with the measles outbreak going on. Thinking brunch but open to other options too.
Bonus if they take reservations!
Thanks in advance?
Throw away account because this is a little awkward and embarrassing. Not asking for medical advice. Long story short I started dating a woman and she has requested that I provide a clean bill of health prior to us being intimate. No problem. I called my PCP and he does have not an appointment available for another 3 months. I don’t want to wait that long. My question is, where can I can screened for STI’s? I did some research online and most place are charging $100+ for on spot testing. I do want to pay that because I have health insurance. I have select health insurance. Would it be appropriate to walk in to an InstaCare and ask for a screening? I don’t have any symptoms and I’m testing by choice so I wasn’t sure if that was something I could do.
I’m a local Utah artist that makes paintings of city lights in the desert, using traditional painting, methods, and electronics. I design and code myself.
I’m wondering, what kind of coffee shop or bookshop or restaurant or bar would be a good match for my work where people could see them.
Back home and missing the best dawgs the Rocky Mountain west has to offer
Our community is facing federal overreach that will tear families apart and damage our local economy. A massive ICE detention facility—the largest of its kind in modern history—is being planned for Utah without real transparency or local support.
I started a petition urging our state and courts to reject this facility and defend our immigrant communities. Federal agents are operating behind our governor's back, families live in constant fear of sudden detention, and we're looking at a $1 million drop in property values just for starters.
This isn't about immigration enforcement—it's about unchecked power harming real people. Our state thrives on diversity and mutual support, and these tactics poison that. If this is hitting home for you or someone you know, consider signing and sharing. What would you want someone to do if this was your family?
People like to complain about UTA and public transit, about the lack of last mile services to the inconsistent or infrequent run times.
But there are stats that I think people willingly ignore to fit their narrative, so let’s set some things straight.
UTA has one of the longest continuous commuter rails in the country, spanning 82 miles from Ogden to Provo
It has one of the largest networks of last mile ride share systems in the country, relying on vans and cars to maximize cost returns vs bus transit in light density suburbs
Almost 80% of the population in Utah have public transit coverage
For Light Rail: We are in the Top 10 for total system mileage, but our individual lines are average.
• For Commuter Rail: The FrontRunner is a Top 5 in terms of continuous distance for a single route.
• For Efficiency: Utah is arguably #1 for "population reached per mile of track"
We should be thankful our highly right leaning, Republican dominated legislature even cares. And they have cared, for more over 30 years. The first front runner demo was in 1998 and the first piece of land was purchased for trax in 1994.
Before 2020 I saw a lot of shows at the Eccles Theatre by lining up at the back door and entering the lottery two hours before a show. I tried to see if Eccles still has a lottery and from what I can find online they use Lucky Seat now. When I log into Lucky Seat, Salt Lake isn’t even an option.
Is there a way to still see shows at Eccles through a lottery?
