Y’all agree that Saints Row 4 was the Superman video game we never had, but got?!

Just replaying the game the super powers the flying feeling like Kal-El looking over the city but i be murdering the aliens and innocent people left and right with my super blasts, so I’d say, i’m More like Homelander LMAO! The setting of the simulation feeling like metropolis and I’m surprised they didn’t have some Superman like costume oh wait ,they got super hero costumes I forgot! But all dat flying, superpowers, save the world storyline all straight from a damn comic book am I right? You could say Saints Row 4 is Homelander before Homelander but nah Saints Row 4, was the Superman video game we never got!

Saints Row and the theory nobody talks about: the protagonists were an intentional parody

I started the franchise directly from the reboot, never having touched the older games. And I have a theory I'm becoming more and more convinced is true: **the Boss Factory crew and the Saints were designed as a parody of gangster games** — basically One Punch Man applied to the open world crime genre.

Think about it: you have massive gangs, ruthless criminals who act untouchable, organizations with entire armies behind them — and then four broke kids who can't even pay rent show up and wipe them all out without breaking a sweat. It's the exact same dynamic as One Punch Man: the villains deliver these epic speeches about how powerful and dangerous they are, and then some random nobody sends them packing in seconds. **The problem is that almost nobody read it that way**, and the game never had the narrative space to make that reading explicit enough.

Why? Because the story is incredibly short and rushed. In San Andreas — a game from 2004 — you learn every neighborhood, every gang, every social dynamic. You genuinely feel like you're living in Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas. I still remember the names of those cities years later. I barely remember anything about Santo Ileso (had to look that up), because the game never gives you the time to actually inhabit it. The Idols, the most visually interesting faction, last about half an hour and then disappear.

Looking at the credits and the team photos, the reasons behind the failure become clear: development happened in the middle of a pandemic, remote work with all its complications, and a lot of first-time developers. The ideas were there, and honestly I think they were good ones. But without the time and resources to execute them properly, what's left is a bug-riddled game with a story that never manages to take off.

A massive shame, because with a more experienced team and a story twice as long, Saints Row could have been something genuinely original in the open world landscape. Instead it remains half an idea.

can you get this outfit for your character?

I saw one of the gang members wear this and I really like it (especially the bullet belt thing) and I was wondering if it's an outfit you can get for your character. All the stores I go to don't have anything similar :(

Playing the reboot and enjoying it so far, legitimately do not get the hate at all.

I'm playing the Saints Row reboot and so far i'm really enjoying it, I really don't get the hate this one got at all, I can understand how those who played it at launch when it was apparently quite glitchy were annoyed(I had a bad experience with Alien Isolation in that regard, it was buggier for me then Colonial Marines ironically enough)but some of the criticism was just beyond stupid(not even going to waste my time on the drooling idiot mouthbreathers that whined about the game because "Hurr durr woke!", even though Saints Row has ALWAYS been "woke" so those loser morons have no clue what they are talking about)like ZOMG Rim Jobs got changed to Jim Robs, oh NOES! The protagonist talks about student loans(which is only for like one damn mission)OMG the horror! Like goddamn there are few games i've seen stupider complaints about then this one. I do have my issues with it(the soundtrack is a real mixed big, the rap and metal stations are good but the rest is kinda eh, still better then SR4's mostly lackluster soundtrack tho)but overall I honestly think it's a better game then SR3 and 4 and feels closer to the spirit of the first two games. Sure you might not be as ruthless as the boss from those games, but the humor and tone feels more in-line with those games, and it's had some badass moments so far(how can you not love harrier jet sequence in the beginning mission?)and I quite like the boss's friends, especially Neenah.

Another thing that annoys me is how certain fans assume that those who like this game must be new players, I've been playing since the first game on 360 and I think the reboot is genuinely solid and it's a shame it didn't do better(and anyone blaming this game's failure on Volition's closure is just plain ignorant, Embracer is the real reason they shut down, they bought too many studios too fast in anticipation of a deal with a Saudi company that ultimately fell through, this game could've been a hit and Embracer still would've shut down Volition). Honestly there was no place left for the original series to go at this point so I don't really see what other option they had but to do a reboot. For me I was getting tired of the over-the-top tone in parts 3 and 4, they had their moments, but they were so over-the-top that it ultimately felt less special, part 4 was both too over-the-top and dull for me(to me it just felt like a weaker version of Prototype, even down to having almost the exact same gliding mechanic).

I have to say the open world of Santa Ilso is a big improvement over Steelport(which felt kinda dull and lifeless, especially in SR4 when they just made it darker with a shitty night filter that you can't change until you beat the game, even then it does not look quite right IMO)it actually feels like a living breathing world that I want to spend time in, as opposed to a place where i'm just mindlessly collecting stuff and waiting for the next story bit to happen like I was in Steelport. I'm enjoying the story so far, the gangs are definitely an improvement over part 3 as they feel like actual gangs and not just a loose collection of lame villains. I also like the challenge system that rewards you for doing stuff around the world like buying clothes and driving certain ways, it gives you an actual incentive to mix things up.

Los already means "the" so that would be like saying "The The Carnales"

What quote from this game is burned in your brain?

Building the Penthouse

Taking my time to try and nail as much detail as possible, however this penthouse really isn’t Minecraft friendly haha.

Saw them transform Santo Ileso into a machine fueled by people's crushed spirits, broken dreams and emptied pockets.

Should i play 2 on Xbox 360 or modded on PC?

The official patch is probably never happening now, isn't it?
