I'm Not A Fan Of AI Ads

Lately I've been seeing a lot of local restaurants using fully AI generated ads. Its getting a little annoying.

I made a fake ad in Microsoft Paint just to show folks that you don't need an expensive computer program or art skills to make an ad without the help of AI.

I think most people would rather see a quickly made ad, with an amateur level photo, rather than ads with computer generated not real food.

What do you folks think? Would you rather see a amateur looking ad with a photo of real food or would an AI generated ad get your attention better?

Very excited to visit St. Louis- Looking for Restaurant Recommendations

Hi everyone!

My boyfriend and I are visiting St. Louis from Cincy when the Cardinals are playing the Reds- and are looking for some food recommendations! We'll be in the downtown area- and would hope to stay around there- but definitely willing to drive 15-20 mins for something super awesome.

Recs I am looking for:

- a local coffee shop with good lattes + pastries (a bonus if they have a great breakfast sandwich too)
- a great carry-out lunch spot in the downtown area (ideally walkable from the gateway arch)
- best bbq place! (more mid-priced budget ideally ~$20-30ish pp)
- a vibey date night restaurant (italian would be amazing, but open to any and all suggestions around $60-70pp!)

Thank you so much in advance, so excited to visit!

Local sodas?

I'm a big fan of drinking way too much soda every now and again.

I love getting the bottomless mugs from Fitz's, but imo that's the biggest draw of going to their restaurant.

I'm looking for places that make or have their own sodas!

Any recs for tasty local bottled options??

Kishimodo Mendo

I went to the opening of Kishimoto Mendo in the Loop today, the new Ramen Tonkotsu restaurant by the owner of Menya Rui.

I got the classic Tonkotsu Ramen and it was hands down the best ramen I’ve ever had.

* Kishimoto Mendo I was so excited to evangelize I didn’t spell check

Hi! 33F and 35M going to STL this weekend. We’re really open to exploring so any neighborhoods will be considered!

This is my first time visiting and would be grateful for some recommendations! You don’t have to answer them all :)

What’s the “can’t miss” local restaurant that is considered upscale best for a fancy date night?

We love a properly mixed cocktail with depth and flavor profiles! What’s the can’t miss local cocktail bar? Ambiance is a part of this too!

Where is the best espresso martini, made with real espresso?

Best smash burger with quality ingredients, probably hand pattied?

Whats the best local house-made Bloody Mary for brunch? Please no mixes like Zing Zang :)

While we’re at it, best brunch?

What’s the “can’t miss” local BBQ restaurant?

Best place for an Italian sandwich in the Hill? (Or elsewhere)

Edit: Also, is STL pizza a thing?

Any suggestions for fun couples activities? We are foodies and like cocktails. As for activities, we like anything from sports to hiking to concerts to museums and zoos; pretty easy to please! Any suggestions are appreciated! Or anything to stay away from, or is a waste of time, equally appreciated.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to respond! We have come to Reddit for recommendations and we have found some really cute hole in the wall places before so thank you for taking the time to help out!

Graduation dinner with kids

Hey all,

Celebrating a graduation in a couple weeks and trying to find a place that is a good balance between really good and kid friendly. The kids are adventurous eaters…but a place where it takes awhile to get food out or is small and quiet might be a challenge.

Graduation is at WashU but we are staying downtown so anywhere is fair game in between.

Best Vegetarian-Friendly Date Night Restaurants near MOBOT

I want to take my wife out for a nice date night in June.

We're planning to visit the Missouri Botanical Gardens, and I would like to take her somewhere vegetarian friendly near there.

I'm looking for something kind of upscale, but not so upscale that it's fussy. Extra points if we can eat outdoors.

Thanks in advance.

Last one I think, but you guys have been so fantastic.

33F, 35M.

Really like IPAs, sours and stouts. Everything else we like too, those are just the favorites.

We don’t like sours made with artificial flavors, instead we like real fruits.

Thanks again!

Have any of you seen shiso leaves in any area markets? So far I've only checked Global and they don't carry them. Thanks!

Gluten sensitive places?

Going to be with friends from out of town, I'm particularly interested in places near the Arch and touristy areas. (She isn't celiac or anaphylactic so we aren't worried about cross contamination, but her guts will be messed up if she says, eats a normal pizza or Chinese food that uses wheat soy sauce in cooking instead of tamari.)

The only place I've had before that is really gluten free friendly is Brick River, but everyone is an adventurous eater so I'm open to all suggestions.

Edit: thanks, guys! I'm going to make a big Google maps list and keep it close on hand.

You guys have been SO helpful on my last post and I promise to get back to everyone who commented but I forgot to ask two more questions!

33F, 35M

What’s the best wine bar around? Bonus for if they have the owner or super passionate worker that knows a lot about the menu. It’s always interesting to talk to people who are knowledgeable about wine :)

Best dessert place in the area? Your local favorite! We’re pretty flexible. Just maybe a place we pop into after dinner for a drink and a dessert, if there’s a must try spot!

Thank you all again, so much!

Unpretentious happy hour bar with food

Chill South City joint where regulars are welcoming. Good wings are a bonus. Thanks.
