Is there a list of all Sega first party games available to play on current consoles?
If so, I’d appreciate if someone would give a link to that list.

This Game Gear ad saying “Game Gear separates the men from the boys” makes me cringe. Imagine a 12-years-old boy thinking they are the biggest macho of all because they own a Sega system. It’s really funny. How can a console dictates how “macho” you are?
There is also another Game Gear ad that is extremely ableist, it says “if you are color blind and have an IQ less than 12, then you wouldn’t care which portable do you have”.

If you imagine an ad campaign like that would only be consider problematic today, you would be surprised to find out it had some controversy at that time. Nintendo said Sega was shaming disabled people.
It’s a huge contrast between the Sega’s Japanese commercials that had none of that.
I know it’s anachronistic to judge 30+ year old commercial with modern day values, but my intention here is not to cancel Sega over those things. It’s the past, it doesn’t reflect who they are now. I just saw this promotional flyer that used to came in the box of some Genesis games and I thought to myself “wow, the 90s were a crazy period”
Are these allowed to be made clones from legally? What about open source re-releases? How looks their situation?
The Video game version of the Sonic characters are presently older than the ones in the game. I believe Sonic in the movies is like 12 or 13, Tails would be around 6 years old, Knuckles is 13 or 14.
Does anyone else think it would be interesting to have a cross over between the two universes?
Personally I find the idea of game Tails meeting a version of himself that HE is older than and you just Know Game Sonic would want to compare speeds and their stories together.
I have all of the official Sega Genesis Black Grid games, and some of the non-Sega published ones. I still missing Jerry Glanville that I know of, does anyone know of any other 3rd party black grid games that I'm missing? Thanks.
I believe that the emulation of old Sega games is actually beneficial for the company. Think about it. Segagaga for the Sega Dreamcast, for instance, was released exclusively in Japan with a limited print run and an extremely low marketing budget. The only reason this game became a cult classic is because people experienced it through emulation or other unofficial means.
Now, Sega is referencing Segagaga in their Sega Universe project. Even if this project only consists of merchandise, would they really be able to sell products for an obscure, nearly 30-year-old game if people hadn’t discovered it through emulation and unofficial channels?
Similarly, would Panzer Dragoon Saga be considered a cult classic today if the only people who played it were those with legitimate, physical Sega Saturn copies?
Most of these classic Sega games are too risky to bring back because the gaming market has changed so much. If people only played them through official means, these titles would have been completely forgotten by now.
Maybe Sega knows this. Perhaps this is why they aren't overly aggressive with copyright protection and don't aggressively target emulators and ROM sites. They might realize that emulation is essentially a free way to keep their legacy alive, allowing them to capitalize on that lingering popularity later with modern releases.
This post isn't meant to justify or promote piracy, but I think it’s an interesting topic for discussion.
I became a Sakura Wars fan thanks to the fan translations. I played Sakura Wars 1 and 2 for the first time on my Sega Saturn thanks to them. Now, If Sega decides to bring the series back, I’m a potential new customer, and I wasn’t before.
Hey everyone,
I’m currently deep down the rabbit hole of a Sega Game Gear repair and I think I've reached the final boss. I’ve read the RetroSix wiki top to bottom, watched every YouTube tutorial, scoured forums, and even brainstormed the schematics with AI. I wanted to share my journey, what works so far, and see if you guys have any other suggestions while I wait for parts.
The Story & What Works: To give you some context, I bought this console as "junk" and it was absolutely disgusting inside. The capacitor and battery leakage was so bad that the corrosion literally looked like some kind of alien fungus growing on the board. It took me hours of tedious scrubbing with IPA just to get it clean enough to even see the traces.
Once it was finally clean, a standard full recap was done, but the screen and backlight remained dead, and the console would occasionally shut down (power board protection kicking in).
The VR1 Fix: I tracked down a corroded/shorted contrast wheel (VR1). Replacing it stabilized the power completely. The console no longer shuts down when adjusting contrast!
The Inverter Circuit: I verified that the 5V line is healthy and reaches the inverter (C31 -> L2 -> C81 = ~5V). Both fuses (FU1/FU2) are good, and the T1 transformer shows continuity. Q3 and Q4 have a healthy ~4.9V on their collectors and don't seem shorted.
The "Jumper" Miracle: Before fixing VR1, I experimentally jumped the 34V line to C35+ (contrast circuit). To my surprise, the CCFL tube actually fired up! This proved that the tube isn't completely dead and T1 can generate high voltage.
The Mistakes (How I learned the hard way):
The Probe Slip: While probing around the 34V line, my multimeter probe slipped and caused a tiny short. Now, whenever the 34V line is active/jumped, the power board immediately cuts off power to protect itself. I suspect I fried Q6 or Q8 in the contrast circuit.
The C32 Phantom Short: I measured C32 in-circuit and it beeped. I thought it was shorted, so I removed it (and mechanically damaged it in the process). I quickly realized it was just beeping through the T1 primary coil. Now the inverter's Royer oscillator is physically missing its resonant capacitor, so it has zero chance of starting.
The Current Plan: I’ve got a care package on the way from an electronics supplier. I ordered:
A proper 100nF 250V film capacitor to replace C32 and restore the LC tank circuit.
A whole set of NPN/PNP transistors (MMBT3904, MMBT3906, 2SCR533P, BCX53) to replace Q6/Q8 and clear that short, plus backups for the inverter and power board just in case.
Final Thoughts: Honestly, from a financial and time perspective, this stopped making sense a long time ago. I could have just bought a modern IPS or LED backlight mod, ripped out the high-voltage circuit, and been playing games by now. But at this point, it’s personal. I’ve learned an incredible amount about how DC-DC converters and Royer oscillators actually work, which is a win in itself.
Do you guys have any other suggestions or things I might have missed before I start replacing the transistors and C32? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
*I also burned 2 power boards during the process xD
Heya guys.
I’ve been selling stuff recently on eBay and came across my physical copy of Sonic x Shadow Generations Day One Edition for the PS4.
I don’t plan on playing it again, so I was researching for similar listings online so I can gauge what to price this at.
Apparently, it’s super difficult to find anything similar to what I have as physical sales of this game has been very limited upon release, especially here in the US.
Something similar to what I have found was a listing on eBay for a US sealed copy going for $500-$700.
My copy is a UK import (as seen from the PEGI box in the corner as opposed to the US’ ESRB box).
My copy is opened, but contains Gerald Robotnik’s Journal, the original manual, the unused code for the Sonic Adventure Legacy Skin, and a promotion for the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie.
Can I get some advice as to what’s a good amount I can list this at due to the scarcity of it? I’ve even consulted local game stores near me of what they thought was a good price and even they couldn’t give me a straight answer.
They just saw the similar listing I saw on eBay going for $500-$700 and brought up that the PS5 version usually goes for $10-$20.
They believe that this can go for higher as it can be a collectors item, especially in this era where physical games are dying out. Even more so as my copy contains all original materials, is specifically the Day One Edition, is in pristine condition, and is for the PS4 as opposed to the PS5, but still compatible with it.
I’d appreciate any help on this!
