Hope everyone had a great run!

The last 3K threw me off. I peaked too early and the last stretch was tough but overall they did a great job with the adjustment due to fifa. More crowd support at the end would have been nice but still was a blast. Always love SL10K.

Highlights:

-saw an elderly couple both with cardboard signs taped on them. The man's read "Guide" and the woman's read "Blind" 🥹 it was inspiring

-the homeless man cheering the runners lol.

I last ran the half marathon at TCS waterfront marathon in 2023. I registered at the end of May and paid $148 (taxes + fees included)

Fast forward to last week - the cost jumped up to $236 (taxes + fees included)

I don't recollect seeing discussions around the cost increase on the sub, how many here feel the price increase seems ludicrous?

Does anyone else feel like the logistics of getting to the race, parking/commute, getting to the start line without the shuttle, etc is all just a little too much this year?

I’m commuting from Vaughan, don’t often come downtown and I’m feeling so frazzled this year that I’m contemplating not even picking up my bib and running this year.

I had a really seamless routine: Drive down around 6 am and park at Exhibition place, then take the shuttle up and drive home when it was all done.

I’m feeling really overwhelmed by all the change this year and the fact that TTC won’t operate earlier doesn’t make planning any easier.

I think a lot of the things that made SL10k such a great and well organized run are just not there this year.

Is anyone else feeling the same way? Just curious.

It can be chaotic, it’s Mother’s Day and can be super packed. But the Sporting Like 10k in support of Campfire Cirlce formerly Camp Ooch is probably my favourite run in the city. I’ve done it a few times now but it got me wondering is there an older running out there who has done all of them? A quick search shows the run started in the year 2000.

Is the 97 Yonge bus running on the day of the race? How are people getting to the start line before the subway opens? This will be my first time doing the SL 10k and I'm struggling to figure out how to get up there from Yonge and Bloor without spending $50 on an uber

Are all of them way too small? It is too tight for me :(

Good pacers are a super helpful part of a successful & enjoyable race for many (bad pacers are some of my *biggest* running pet peeves), and it seems like a fun way to give back to your local races.

I’ve done plenty of searches and haven’t really found any places where you’d apply, besides a sprinkling of past races. Every race website has a volunteer page, but on none of them is there a pacer position. I’ve directly contacted some races with no response as well.

I’d just like to know / ask those familiar with being a pacer at races around the city how they went about becoming one. And if you or somebody you know is currently organizing a race, I’d like to help out!

Giving away 15% off for the first 5 runners for our Toronto endurance race this September

I’m one of the organizers behind Unfinished Series. We built this event because we wanted something different from the typical race experience. I noticed there is rarely a backyard ultra style race within a city easily accessible by transit and thought it would be cool to create a safe environment for people to test their limits. Run the furthest they ever have. I also wanted to show that if you pick a slow pace and don’t worry about overall speed you can run 1,000x further and safer. I’m hoping that this race will take the fear away from running half or full marathons or even show people an ultra distance isn’t as scary as it sounds (I hear often people say it’s basically just an eating contest).

The event is happening Sept. 12 in the Beaches area of Toronto and includes:

1. 6.7km Sunshine Run (for those that just want to come out for a leisurely morning run along the water)
2. Endurance events (solo and teams - turn the clock completely off)
3. Backyard-style ultra (every hour on the hour, fastest last lap wins)

Once 5 people use it, it’s done. ‘RUNTO15’

If anyone has questions about the course, format, training, or the event itself, happy to answer them here too. My goal is to just make this a great day for everyone so I’d like to hear comments and suggestions now so I have time to refine.

Apart from being a self-centred loser, you're actively putting yourself and others at risk by doing this on a course. I watched half a dozen people dodge out of your way in 30 seconds while your clogged up the route.

You COULD have been running ten feet to your left with all the runners going on the same direction as you. But you weren’t.

I just saw they gave me the wrong bib omg. The last names are super similar but now I have some random 44year old women’s bib. What do I do?

I completed my first 10k in many years today and when I went to check my official time, I noticed the guy who finished in 28mins. I’m wondering if the people who come in first get some kind of prize money?
