Places in Round Rock you’re curious about or have never been?

I drove past Blue Corn Harvest and it got me thinking about all the places I’ve never been but have always thought about trying. So I’ve come to Reddit to ask folks to drop their “okay but hear me out…you should check out XYZ because…” takes about different businesses in Round Rock.

Other honorable mentions for me:

Cotton Patch Cafe

Tio Dan Cafe Puffy Tacos n Fish

Hometown Gift and Decor

Mosquitoes are back with a vengeance. How do you deal with them?

I stepped out yesterday evening for 30sec and caught 2 massive mosquitoes gnawing at my arms. Luckily, I was wearing long pants. Maybe it’s the season but maybe it’s also after all that Austin rain. They’re back with a vengeance!

I have seen many videos of people using traps, machines, items to hang, dunks, plants, etc. but curious what has helped Austin folks?

I have a small backyard and last summer, I was annihilated every time I went out. No pools, no areas of water, so not sure why they’re so many of them.

Accident on 4/23/2026

Hello! My best friends boyfriend was in a roll over accident last night on the intersection of Ed Schmidt Blvd and E Palm Valley Blvd. We are needing some help figuring out who else was involved in the accident due to them leaving without trading insurances. I have dash cam footage as well, but the license plate is so blurry. Thank you for any information!

Thinking about moving to Round Rock—would love honest feedback (especially from parents!)

Hi all—my family is considering a move to Round Rock and I’d really appreciate hearing from people who actually live there day-to-day. I’d love the good, the bad, and the “wish I knew this before moving” kind of insights.

If you’re open to sharing, I’d especially appreciate perspectives from parents, but any input is helpful!

General questions:

How long have you lived in Round Rock, and what brought you there?

What are the best things about living there?

What are the biggest downsides or frustrations?

How would you describe the overall vibe of the city?

Has growth been a positive or negative in your experience?

Neighborhood feel:

What area do you live in, and how would you describe your neighborhood?

Is it more tight-knit or do people tend to keep to themselves?

Do you feel safe?

For parents:

How do you feel about raising kids in Round Rock overall?

What do your kids seem to love about living there?

On the flip side, what do they struggle with or dislike?

Do your kids seem happy and able to make friends?

Schools (especially Round Rock ISD):

What schools are your kids in, and how has your experience been?

What are the strengths and weaknesses?

Do you feel your child is supported (academically and emotionally)?

If applicable, how has your experience been with special education services?

Lifestyle & activities:

Are there plenty of things for kids to do (sports, clubs, parks, etc.)?

Is it easy to get involved, or pretty competitive/full?

Big picture:

If you could do it over again, would you still choose Round Rock?

Who do you think it’s a great fit for—and who might not love it?

Thanks in advance—really appreciate any insight you’re willing to share!

Power outage at Hester’s crossing and McNeil…. Again

Powers been out about an hour in my neighborhood (Chisholm valley). Any one know why?

A similar outage happened just last week when a truck hit a transformer… wondering if this outage is caused by the same incident, some outstanding equipment issue that wasn’t fully fixed.

I’ve been here almost 5 years and the power hasn’t gone out ONCE but it happens twice in one week… suspicious

Celebrate May Day, and have a hot dog on us!

May Day is a day to celebrate working people, and Indivisible 1431 is celebrating and building community with a hot dog picnic that evening at Round Rock’s Sharon Prete Downtown Plaza, 6-8 pm Friday, May 1.

That’s near supper time, so enjoy a hot dog on us. We will have the Hotdog King food truck up from Austin for the evening. Yum!

Everyone gets a coupon for a free all-beef hot dog ($6 value, which can also be used toward one of Hotdog King’s more elaborate wieners, until we run out of coupons! Pick yours up when you join us; limit 2 per family)

Whether you're worried about public schools, workers' rights, health care, or what's happening in Washington and Austin, come eat a hot dog and meet your neighbors. Let’s talk solutions.

No speeches. No sign-up sheets. Just good people, good food, and a chance to connect.

Bring a friend. Bring the family. Bring the neighbor who keeps saying "someone should do something."

It is up to us to stand against the oligarchs. We are more than they, but we can only succeed by working together. Billionaires will break every rule in the book. It will take concerted and continuous work by all of us to defeat them.

These are our demands:

- Tax the rich so our families, not their fortunes, come first

- No ICE. No war. No private army serving unchecked federal power

- Expand democracy, not corporate power. Hands off our vote!

Join us for hot dogs and cool conversations. Together, let’s celebrate May 1st through action and community.

*Please note: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*

Indivisible 1431 is a local Indivisible group serving the FM1431 corridor. This spans from Lake Travis, North Shore in the west to Taylor in the east, and includes Jonestown, Leander, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Georgetown, Hutto, Pflugerville, and any community thereabouts! We are dedicated to resisting fascism, protecting endangered populations, and building a consensus to return the USA to a sane course.

Weight loss

I'm 17, 230lbs at 6'0 I drink cola heavily everyday and don't get too much exercise.

I'm CompTIA A+ & Tech+ Certified, and I have a Dell PowerEdge Certification. I'd like to lose weight before I look for a job but it seems like I need to wait until I'm 18.

I was 180 last year and already planned to lose weight. Now I'm the edge of 230 and it's harder than expected.

I've lost weight 20lbs before but I'm really struggling mentally this time

I've gotten many stretch marks and most of it went to my thighs. I was not born obese and have really skinny hands and arms. I feel the same as I did at 180 but notice slow downs.

I can't put down the cola withoit going crazy or feeling depressed. Any good medicines or programs to try? It sucks and really hurts mentally.
