Thinking about moving to New Braunfels—would love honest feedback (especially from parents!)

Hi all—my family is considering a move to New Braunfels and I’d really appreciate hearing from people who live there day-to-day. I’m looking for the real picture—the good, the bad, and anything you wish you knew before moving.

If you’re open to sharing, I’d especially love input from parents, but any perspective is helpful!

General questions:

How long have you lived in New Braunfels, and what brought you there?

What are the best things about living there?

What are the biggest downsides or frustrations?

How would you describe the overall vibe (small-town, touristy, family-oriented, etc.)?

Has the growth in the area been a positive or negative in your experience?

Neighborhood feel:

What area do you live in, and how would you describe your neighborhood?

Is it more tight-knit or do people tend to keep to themselves?

Do you feel safe?

Does it feel more local or influenced by tourism?

For parents:

How do you feel about raising kids in New Braunfels overall?

What do your kids seem to love about living there?

On the flip side, what do they struggle with or dislike?

Do your kids seem happy and able to make friends?

Does the town feel kid-friendly year-round, or more seasonal because of tourism?

Schools (especially Comal ISD):

What schools are your kids in, and how has your experience been?

What are the strengths and weaknesses?

Do you feel your child is supported (academically and emotionally)?

If applicable, how has your experience been with special education services?

Lifestyle & activities:

Are there plenty of things for kids to do (sports, clubs, parks, river activities, etc.)?

Is it easy to get involved, or pretty competitive/full?

Do you actually use the river/parks regularly, or is that more of a tourist thing?

Big picture:

If you could do it over again, would you still choose New Braunfels?

Who do you think it’s a great fit for—and who might not love it?

Thanks so much—I really appreciate any insight you’re willing to share!
