My wife and I visited for four days a couple weeks ago. We came because there is a conference for the travel/content creator industry coming in June and we were there to check it out beforehand and create some content to promote that event and also experience it before the conference.
First impression was Richmond had a lot of incredible architecture, art, and World class museums, the Maymont Gardens are super cool. Didn't get to go in the house (will do that when we come back in June.)
For being a city of 250k you guys have everything that I love about living in NYC without the crowds.
One highlight was definitely the Byrd theater experience. We saw blue velvet (that movie is nuts) and what a cool surprise to see the organs pop out of the bottom. That was awesome. That theatre is so cool.
Another thing we loved was all the cats. From Edgar and Tibs at the Poe museum, to Anabelle at the Linden Row and the cats at Shelf Life book store. Couldn't get enough of that.
Exceptional food. Standouts were Perly's Lost Letter, Bar Buoy (shout out the the chef Brittanny Anderson for chatting us up, doing a shot with us and her recommendations. She was a riot.), SB's Lakeside Loveshack for all it's charm and whimsy. Oh and the Stock Bistro inside of Txtur was a super unique dining experience. Super friendly staff and great cocktails and food.
We also did the food tour which was great and got to learn a bit about the history of the area and got bites from a ton of great spots like Lillie Pearl, Mama J's, Rappahannock and more.
All the different neighborhoods. That's where I really feel like the parts I love about living in Brooklyn are there. You can literally kinda choose your own adventure by heading into different pockets. Obviously loved Carytown and Scott's Addition. The shops there are so cool just wish they'd stay open a little later lol. It's hard for tourists to check out the shops if they close at 6.
Love how the antique/vintage shops have super clear organization/labelling for there eras/decades/types. I think every antique/vintage shop we went in was so clearly labelled it was so satisifying haha. Bygones is so cool.
Lastly the museums are just world class no question about it. We are so sad we had to rush through them to get our appointments and are excited about coming back and actually being able to do more than a quick power walk.
Oh also excited to come back in June and also check out a Flying Squirrel game! If there's things you recommend checking out please let us know.
Am about to move to Sandston. What's it all about? Is there a pizza joint? groceries?
reddit.comHello - my wife (62) and I (57) are originally from San Francisco. We retired in 2019 and moved to Mexico, but we’re ready for a change and are planning on moving back to the US and Richmond is on our shortlist of places to consider
We’re coming to visit for a week to get a sense of whether it might be a good fit. My wife has been there before, but this will be my first time. We’re renting an Airbnb in the Fan and will rent a car for a few days so we can explore different neighborhoods.
Living somewhere with walkability is important to us. We’ll have a car, but we’d prefer a neighborhood where we can easily walk to bars, restaurants, and other local spots. Based on some preliminary research, the Fan, Museum District, and Church Hill areas seem like good fits - are there any other neighborhoods we should be looking at?
Also, any general recommendations for things we should check out while we’re in town to get a feel for daily life in Richmond?
Thanks in advance!
Help Finding trauma, grief, or ocd therapist
Hi,
I need help. I suspect I am under heavy depersonalization due to the death of my best friend. It was a traumatic passing and I don’t know how to ask for help. I feel crazy and i want to admit myself into a facility but I know the stories.
I just want to feel like I am in control of my mind and body because i feel chained. I can’t even close my eyes without panicking, sometimes i think i am faking it and then i find myself obsessing about how to breathe or even walk, or when my arms are. When i look in the mirror sometimes i feel so scared.
the weirdest thing is that i am conscious of taking care of my dog and going to work but even in those moments i am checked out to some degree.
Please direct me to someone who can help me. I am in the scott’s addition area, I have instance but I would like someone affordable. I am open to to reiki or anything, i just want someone i can completely trust with how crazy i feel.
Thank you, this is my first time writing this out
Does anyone know a good holistic or biological dentist in the Richmond area in Virginia?
Looking for a solid holistic/biological dentist around Richmond, VA and wondering if anyone has personal experience or recommendations
I’m especially interested in things like safe mercury filling removal, non-metal options where possible, and a more whole-body approach to dental care
Has anyone in the Richmond area switched to a holistic dentist? Did it feel noticeably different from a standard dental office??
Triangle Ecycling is offering free bulk old computer ewaste pickup for Louisville organizations (businesses, government offices, etc.) and processes everything through an R2-certified zero-landfill recycler. Comes with a serialized inventory and certificate of destruction, which matters if you have compliance requirements.
They also run a program that trains public school students in computer refurbishment and IT skills, and they donate 500+ refurbished computers a year to nonprofits and families. They're a nonprofit and direct 10% of proceeds to other nonprofits supporting education, families and the environment.
Request pickup via their web form or by phone and they try to respond within an hour.
There are cases where it becomes more of a low cost scenario, like 20 big ancient Cisco phones or something like this.
Anyone with a pond?
EDIT: this turtle is a pet. Also, you cannot release pets or turtles into the wild. It is illegal. I'm looking for someone with a personal pond or is a reptile enthusiast and will take this on as a pet.
Hey I am helping a friend rehome his turtle. I think she would do well in a pond or anyone with a huge tank. I'm in an apartment and don't have the space requirements for her other wise she'd be staying with me.
Any other suggestions on where she could go are also helpful!
Backed by national rankings and new data, Richmond is emerging as one of America’s most balanced small cities for building a career and maintaining a high quality of life.
theculturalcurrent.comDoes anyone make around 60k? How much do you pay for rent and where do you live? I’m planning to move to Richmond and just want to make sure it’s feasible to live on my own with that salary :)
Thanks in advance❤️
Missing Cat
I apologize in advance but I mostly lurk on reddit so that’s why my account looks like a bot account. We lost our cat this morning and have not been able to find her. Her name is Xena and we believe she may have gotten out last night. We live on Winnetka Ave near Azalea and Chamberlyne and I don’t think she would have went far. She usually comes home quick if she gets out but she has not come back. She responds to her name and shaking a cat nip container. She is very but could be skittish with Strangers. She has a light pink and white collar with my girlfriend’s number. If anybody here has seen her or has information please message me directly.
Update: Xena came home!! Thank you everyone for your kind words and advice. I think once the rain cleared she felt safe enough to run back home. I’m still not sure where she went to but we’re just glad to have her back
All-inclusive apartments
Hi beautiful people. Does anyone know of any all-inclusive apartments that is less than $1500? I’m looking to move to Richmond and this will be my first time living on my own. Thanks in advance :)
I know toll scams are high right now. I’ve checked my EZpass account, no red flags. Read over the scamming disclaimer and linked site

Watched the local news segment

Mine looks a little different, but I see all the red flags. Has anyone else received texts like this? Also, isn’t this illegal? Thank you 🙏
Food recommendations off I-95 around Richmond?
Driving back from DC to North Carolina with a couple friends, looking to stop somewhere good that won’t take too much time off our drive. Any suggestions are highly appreciated!

Hey y'all, I'm a 26M doing a solo trip to Richmond at the end of July. Going to catch the Djo concert, and figured I'd extend my stay and explore a bit. I'm pretty active/social so I was thinking of staying close to the city center so I can find things to do and explore on my feet. Would it make sense to stay near E Broad close to the Allianz theater- does anyone have any alternative recs?
Also open to any recommendations people have for things to do in the summer! Thanks :)
