Title: Looking for a vintage miniature educational computer / toy PC

Title: Looking for a vintage miniature educational computer / toy PC

Description:

I am looking for a specific vintage handheld educational toy/computer from the late 90s or early 2000s. It was white with pink accents and had a very unique, minimalist, and "boxy" design. It wasn't a laptop; it looked like a miniature desktop PC.

Key features:

Size: Very small, about the size of an adult's hand.

Form Factor: A minimalist rectangular block (rectangular prism) that served as the base, with a fixed, flat upright screen on top (looking like a classic monitor sitting on a desktop unit).

Keyboard: It had a sliding/retractable keyboard that tucked away directly into the base unit under the screen.

Mouse: There was a dedicated storage slot (compartment) on the right side of the base where a tiny mouse could be stored vertically.

Style: Very "cute," aesthetic, and clean-looking.

It looks like a miniature "all-in-one" desktop setup rather than a foldable laptop.

Made a rotary phone inspired magsafe charging stand and wanted some feedback

Been sitting on this idea for a while and finally had a chance to make it. The idea was simple, old phone helping new phone charging up. My main concern was to get the vibe and aesthetic right and to make it work with all iPhone models; rather than making a scaled down version of a specific model. But it did end up looking similar to one that I grew up with. That one was in beige though.

Added a base with some height and silicone pads, and the handset sits in place with magnets. Also made four of them [one is for myself and another is for someone that I know who will like it].

Want to refine the next ones, and coming up with plans for maybe an embedded charger. So I wanted to ask what details stand out the most to you when something is supposed to feel specifically like a rotary phone. Color, texture, shape, specific model, anything else ...

The most humble rock singer i've ever witnessed 🤘

Although primarily the icon of punk rock, Joey Ramone and the Ramones heavily influenced heavy metal—particularly thrash—through their fast, distorted, and minimalist sound.

While staying true to their 1974 punk roots, the band adopted metal-tinged sounds on later tracks like "I'm Not Jesus" and "Too Tough To Die," with Joey even jokingly claiming the band invented heavy metal.

Joey Ramone, the iconic lead vocalist of the Ramones, was a staple of the NYC punk scene. While known for his artistic legacy, some personal accounts describe him as a difficult person with controlling tendencies and poor hygiene, yet he was also remembered by friends as a "sweetheart" with a unique, individualistic spirit.

Marky Ramone claimed Joey had a difficult personality, mentioning controlling behavior towards his girlfriend, Linda, and poor hygiene, such as rarely changing his underwear. Marky noted that Joey would often control his girlfriend with rules, like how to wash dishes or buy groceries.

John Lee Hooker's favourite UK blues rock band, they toured with him in 1964.

The Groundhogs, were an influential British blues-rock band formed in 1963. Fronted by guitarist Tony McPhee.

Evolving from a blues foundation, they transitioned into progressive-oriented hard rock in the early 1970s. Known for a heavy, distorted guitar sound, and a power trio format that produced 1970s hits. Like split and Who Will Save the World?,

The Groundhogs sold a lot of records in the early 70s: after supporting the Rolling Stones on their 1971 UK tour, they found themselves subsequently filling the same venues as headliners.

But to the end of his life, McPhee maintained that the highlight of his career wasn’t their run of Top 10 albums but the time he had spent in the 60s as a sideman with John Lee Hooker.

He downplayed his shift from playing straight blues to something more experimental as merely a matter of pragmatism – “to keep the Groundhogs working and recording” when the late 60s blues boom began to wane – which didn’t really account for how far out he was prepared to take his music.

He was also stubborn, (clearly he hadn’t been nicknamed Tough Shit for nothing). Happy to follow his muse into waters, that alienated the Groundhogs’ growing following. Fans enticed by the furious power, of Split’s most famous track "cherry red".

"I basicly took the classic blues, and added hard rock. It wasn't my intention, i just wanted to blow everybodys mind. And in the 70s teenagers expected more than in the 60s."

Retro movie selector

I built a website called FlickFinda because I kept spending forever trying to decide what to watch, and figured I would try to build something that solved that. It is a free AI-powered movie selection engine where you can describe the kind of film you are in the mood for and it finds something for you. You can also watch trailers right inside the app, save films to a watchlist, track what you have seen, and rate and review films.

This is my first time building something like this so there may be a bug or two. If you run into anything please let me know. I am not making any money from this and have no plans to, I just wanted to see if I could build something people might actually find useful. Would love to hear what you think.

Retro tech nerd (kinda) what should I get next?

I’m really into retro music tech, mostly portable stuff. I wouldn’t say I’m a huge expert or anything, just something I enjoy.

Before I got into vinyl, I was into CDs. I had a Lightning McQueen CD player, then bought a portable one off Mercari (it sucked), then another from Amazon. I used them for a bit but eventually stopped playing CDs.

I also have two iPods I don’t really use anymore one of them is kinda broken (screen has dead pixels), so yeah.

I still like retro music gear though, especially portable or unique stuff. The only thing is I’m trying to stay on a budget, and I already have my phone for music, so I don’t wanna waste money on something I won’t actually use or need.

I’m not really into cassettes (I don’t collect them), but I do have CDs and vinyl. I just want something unique not basic or lame.

If you’ve got any recommendations CD players, MP3 players, MiniDisc, or anything cool drop them below 👍

How to make a Top 100

Hello friends, today I'm going to tell you how my procedure is for creating a Top 100 ranking. I have created many rankings for my YouTube channel, MusicaArgentina. Although I developed this procedure with songs and artists in mind, you can also use it with players, teams, movies, series, video games, etc. I'm going to go step by step and give a brief description; this post won't be very long.

1) Study and investigate: the first step is to become informed about the topic you are dealing with. Search in all kinds of sources: books, magazines, articles, videos, comments, talks, etc.

2) Write down what's most important: from all that information that you're going to come across, you'll find names that are repeated, have achievements, stories, etc. Write them down as you investigate.

3) Choose position No. 1: generally, during the investigation, a clear winner will emerge, based on a general consensus among the various sources, the number of achievements and statistics, etc.

4) Choose positions No. 2 and No. 3: simultaneously, the rest of the podium will come up; these are the other names that are always mentioned as the best in the topic, along with the one in position No. 1.

5) Choose the Top 10 and the Top 20: they also tend to emerge while you are still investigating; there are a handful of names that are the most representative of a topic and that achieved important accomplishments. Gather those 20 and then assign them positions; first define the Top 10 and then the Top 20.

6) Choose the Top 50: here it starts to get tricky. There are no longer such common names; more in-depth information is required. You will have to use the notes you made in point 2. Also, the differences in category are now more subtle. As a general rule, try to think about who should be in the top half of the table. Check out who made an achievement. Gather the 50 and then distribute them into positions. Optional: define the Top 40 first, then the Top 50.

7) Choose the Top 100: I think it's the trickiest part. Always some name gets left out of the top 100, it's inevitable. That's why Top 100 rankings always have complaints. You start checking out the notes from point 2. Everyone who has even a remote chance of entering the ranking is a candidate. From that list of candidates, see which ones made achievements. Those with more or better achievements enter the 100. Thus you assign positions to them, do it as you see fit, after all, we're talking about those who are in the bottom half of the table. Optional: first define the Top 90 and then the Top 100 (that is, the last 10 positions in the ranking).

Repeat the steps as you see fit until you are satisfied with the result.

I prefer the Top 100 as the standard for making rankings. The Top 10 is too small and always leaves out a ton of important names, while the Top 300 is too big and includes loads that aren't good enough to be among the best. 100 is the right point; it's big enough to include varied styles, but narrow enough to include only those that are truly worthy of being in a selection. Anyone researching a topic and looking for comprehensive, accurate, and organized information will surely find it in a Top 100.
