Been looking and putting offers on homes almost every week in south Redlands for the past year. I’m submitting above asking offers with a conventional loan and am consistently getting beaten out by cash offers from investors. While the real estate market in the rest of the country is tanking ; somehow Redlands is going through an inflated boom. House prices are way above comps for the neighborhoods, yet it’s still a mad house. We are lucky if one quality house comes on the market a week, creating a feeding frenzy for buyers.

Speaking with other normal folks at open houses, this is all their same experience. How many of y’all are experiencing this as well? I won’t mention specific houses because if you’re responding and reading this , we likely have all put in offers on the same homes lol.

Local Paintings

Hello everyone, I am wondering what the best ways are to go about supporting local artists? I would like to decorate my home with paintings from local artists who capture the essence of the local area. I have never purchased art before and I take strong preference in supporting local, unique artists.

Thrift Store Rec?

Any recommendations for the best thrift store in town? Fairly new to the area, wasn’t obsessed with the goodwill on Colton. Anyone have good tips?

Earthquake preparedness planning

Since we’ve been having so many earthquakes and one of the tectonic plates under the Cascadia subduction zone is actively crumbling..

What are your guys’ plans for the big one?

How are we preparing our kids?

We’ve had nearly 40 earthquakes all near the landfills. All sharp booms rather than shakes. Theories?

Looking for a Previous Post About Earthquakes

Within the last few days, someone was asking about earthquakes almost every morning in Riverside. I have the app, “My Earthquake Alerts “, and there have been quite a number of reports from Redlands. They are all in the 3s or lower, so not always felt. I think that it’s the time of the year.

More bad behavior from Olson (and possibly Wilson)

Last week I attended the RUSD FilmFest at Harkins theater. It’s a great opportunity for students to showcase films and videos that they’ve made. A friend of mine produces a video about the district board trying to ban books and it made it to the final round of FilmFest. The first video of the board is one of Candy Olson speaking at a meeting. Right before then, the board shows up and actually watches it but Candy Olson hears the line ‘people deserve to choose what they read and gets mad, laughs, and walks out.

Also, another friend of mine (who is openly lgbtq) was on screen at one point and one of the board members (you know the ones) said “Hey I know her. She’s pretty gay,” like it was a bad thing.

So genuinely upset about the blatant disrespect, hate speech, and discrimination from Candy Olson and her pals.

UPDATE -- After posting this, the ABC article was changed. I'm presuming one of the campaigns called. It now says Hilton is ahead and reflects a more recent survey. But they do not admit they edited the article, and so I'm lucky to have done the screencaps I did. Pathetic journalism!!!

Original post --

We Democrats and non-MAGA types are trying to navigate this tricky Governor's race.

Everyone knows we need a Blue hopeful to pull ahead in the polls so we can award all our votes to that individual and definitely have a contender in November. That is: we're all on edge about the vote being split and not having a boat in the race at all.

Everyone knows this, including the corporate media that's trying to tip the scale. I just found a painful example of this here --

https://www.10news.com/americavotes/new-poll-shows-early-leader-in-california-governors-race-as-key-issues-take-center-stage

Glance at this story, and you soon see this --

Hmm...

This story is from today. Since I was seeking recent polling data, it came up in my feed. It says Steyer is currently leading.

Now we all live busy lives and there's no need to really read much more of this piece, but I was like... wait a minute... I had the impression Becerra was ahead.

(FULL DISCLOSURE -- I'm equally interested in Becerra, Porter, and Steyer. Whoever rises to the top I'll vote for.)

So I clicked that 'recent' survey and got this incredibly densely formatted 'survey' --

Where are my glasses?!?

-- and I think most people would be like, "I don't have the time to read this!" For the TL:DRooler voters, guaranteed they won't read it.

But if you do, you discover this in the fine print --

Excuse me?!?

That's not recent. That's a month ago. When Swalwell was still in the race! All polling has reported Becerra's rise since Eric's departure.

But if you go back to that ABC story, no mention of Becerra. Or any other candidate for that matter. The entire point of the piece was to imply 'Steyer for the Win!'.

So why mislead? Was this an 'ad' paid for by Steyer, or do corporate interests want Steyer? I don't mean to diss him because the endorsements he has aren't meaningless -- but who or what decided to post this ridiculous story?

Would anyone be interested in getting together a large group of people to do a scream at prospect park some day?

I have read it can be quite cathartic and help release stress. I know I have read a few articles of people getting together to do it in large cities and I have been considering giving it a try for a few months now.

“Screaming can provide immediate emotional and physical relief by acting as a "release valve" for pent-up tension. While not a long-term cure, it is often used in scream therapy (or primal therapy) to help process trauma and manage acute stress.”

Just an interesting thought. If we get a big enough group I think we should do it.
