Justice Swarna Kanta refuses to recuse from kejriwal's case — says litigant cannot dictate how children of a judge are to live.

In a dramatic turn in the Delhi excise policy case, Delhi High Court judge Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma on Monday refused to recuse herself from hearing the matter, rejecting pleas by former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party leader Vijay Nair and other accused who had sought her withdrawal from the case, alleging bias and conflict of interest.

Pronouncing the order after a day of intense courtroom proceedings, Justice Sharma held that none of the grounds raised by the petitioners warranted her recusal, asserting that entertaining such pleas on “unfounded allegations” would undermine judicial independence and set a dangerous president.

Justice Yashwant Varma resigned TODAY, and honestly, it's both a win AND a massive failure of our system.

Yes, the judge is gone. Resigned to the President yesterday.

But can we talk about how this is being celebrated as some great victory when it's actually a complete institutional embarrassment?

The man had sacks of unaccounted cash discovered at his Delhi residence during a firefighting operation in March 2025 found by firefighters. On camera. At a sitting High Court judge's house.

The CJI asked him to resign. He said no. So they transferred him, stripped his judicial work, ran a full inquiry, forwarded the report to the President and PM, got 158 MPs to sign an impeachment motion, formed a Parliamentary committee — and only NOW, over a year later, does he quietly write a resignation letter saying he won't "burden the august office with his reasons."

The audacity is genuinely breathtaking.

What nobody's talking about:

Where did the cash go? Has anyone been prosecuted? Is the ED investigating? He gets to resign with dignity instead of being impeached in disgrace. That's the precedent we just set.

Any ordinary citizen caught with that cash would still be in a cell right now.

Mamata Banerjee calls UCC "dangerous" says people will lose right to practise their own faith . What do you think?

So BJP dropped their Bengal manifesto and UCC within 6 months is one of their big promises. Mamata clapped back at a rally yesterday basically saying you won't even have the right to follow your own religious customs anymore.

Her words were : "Their manifesto is filled with lies , Implementing UCC means you will lose the right to practise your religion and faith . It will take away your culture , tradition and education, UCC means destruction of diversity"

Polls are April 23 & 29. This is clearly going to be THE issue dominating the next two weeks in Bengal.

what do people here think of the UCC which aims to provide a single set of laws governing personal matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption, irrespective of an individual's religion.
