hingeposting #20393934

so this had been my situation for a little while, but I realized today its not that a piece broke off, but that a hairline fracture on the left (in the first picture) caused the piece cradling the hinge cover to shift upwards.

was able to push it back down where it was and that was Epic. but upon opening the hinge of the device, it moved back up.

I heard some of yall prefer liquid cement as opposed to epoxy or glue. Do you think I'll have to take it apart to put the stuff in? You deal with this before? Part of what I'm worried about is the glue or whatever i use spreading out and gluing shut the wrong bits. Tried to do my due diligence and read threads here and in the anbernic sub but I am not confident enough to move forward, beyond buying some of that cement stuff.

pics of my cat katrianna as an apology for clogging the sub and maybe wasting your time. if I delete this its because I'm ashamed to be posting this. I think its as much an ask for practical instructions as it is an ask for reassurance as I'm not very confident in stuff like this, and maybe, like many of the other tough things in life, its totally doable for me and I just need to fix my mindset.

Kapton tape instead of fishpaper and my RG35XX SP has never been cooler in my hands

I haven’t had any real problem with my device as it ran beautifully except when I installed muOS and ever since, it felt warm or hot in the back when I play PSX or PSP games, so I searched for a solution for it. That’s how I learned I got the version 1 RG35XX SP so there was nothing between the chip and the battery. Version 2 had fishpaper in-between and I don’t know what it is but it’s a fix Anbernic put in place.

Went shopping for fishpaper but local hardware shops don’t have it. Went shopping online and learned about Kapton tape and how it’s a better insulation solution and opted to order that instead. It’s 3 times more costly than fishpaper (1usd for a roll) but the ones I found were tall rolls and I don’t really have somewhere to keep it around so kapton tape it is (it’s still cheap, only 3usd for a roll).

I applied the kapton tape as shown, then played for about three hours with Metal Slug, Tekken 6, and some PS1 RPGs. The device never felt warm or hot. I love it.

Edit: I transferred the kapton tape onto the back of the battery instead of on the board and chip. Same performance, feeling of less warmth on my hands and internal temps as kapton tape on board.

I’m switching back to modded stockOS as I haven’t finished testing it to compare to muOS and plan to playtest my device in direct sunlight. My work involves travelling everyday in the sun for hours on a motorcycle. I’m hoping those guys who got the version 2 (or applied fishpaper after they got their v1 device) are having a similar experience. The SP has become my favorite EDC even more that I made customizations as it felt more my own.
And I own an Ayn Thor that I also bring everyday with my SP.

I just didn’t think it would happen to me.

I am meticulous about keeping my devices in great condition so when I saw the first signs of cracking in my hinge I dismissed it.

Now it’s undeniable.

I just want a device that will last more than a year. I have a TrimUi Brick Hammer coming, I hope that will be better.

I haven’t tested the other cores yet but Metal Slug seems zippier on the updated stock mod. Got tired of muOS bugging out every other two days and the sleep function still didn’t satisfy me there. Some more observations:
- still don’t know why I can’t find DraStic Legacy core or why I can’t use it since it works the fastest for me on muOS. I’ll have to get used to the one “inhouse” core in modded stock.
- still no color settings unlike muOS. I was really happy with the darker colors I set on my muOS.
- patch notes said it removed PortMaster but it’s still there and there’s a patch offered within the Software Center. Used it, now Apotris works better now unlike last time where there was no music.
- Game Center is still there. :P
- sleep function on it really really gave my mind some peace.
- I need to test it more but I think my RG35XX SP runs cooler on this updated stock mod. Unlike muOS where sometimes it felt warm.
Overall, I think I’m happier right now with this modded stock compared to a few hours ago with muOS. Will keep this for a few weeks though I keep two SD cards and the other one is my muOS card and will switch from time to time to check if I’m really happy with this.

Hi all,

New to the hobby. I got a Switch 2 last summer and honestly it was the console of my childhood dreams. Portable and basically all the games I love all in one place. Love it. At Christmas I decided to get one of these Anbernic things I've heard about and load it up with all of my wife's favourite childhood games. I ended up getting a bit carried away and loading it up with everything I could possibly think of. All the games.

She ended up not having the time to play it at all because work and ND kids take so much from her she doesn't have the capacity to play. I, on the other hand, very much use short form gaming to give my brain a rest. She said go for it on her console and I genuinely haven't been able to put it down. I'm working my way through all the GBA games I couldn't afford as a kid and it's just wonderful.

My wife genuinely said " you know you've got that expensive Switch over there collecting dust" the other day. It made me feel a bit guilty, but hey. I'm enjoying myself and no one gets hurt. Plus, there's a ton of Switch games I'll be looking forward to in the future.

Thank you for listening to my Ted talk. I'm going to get back to Metal Slug 3 while the kids eat breakfast!

Is this spicy pillow?

Do I have a spicy pillow battery or is it just wrapping sticking out a bit on the left side? When I touch it the short margin on the left is soft like it is empty on this side. Also when I put on the cover it minimally stick out on the left, might be the cable align though. Is it safe to use my device?

Loved my RG35XX SP since it arrived and burned thru all 150 CC tracks on Mario Kart in less than a day and I'm now just playing balloon fights with bots. Any other DS games that I can play with just one screen and negligible touch controls like Mario Kart DS?

Issues with FF7 on Knulli Gladiator II

This game is just struggling to run properly and I can't figure it out. Any pointers? I played through Xenogears a few years ago without problems but FF7 will have regular slowdowns in battles. Boss battles in particular will slowdown to a complete halt (but the music is still slowly playing in the background).

Side thought: Where can I get the stock OS files? Looks like they're missing from the Anbernic website and I'm not sure if I backed mine up. I play in both handheld and docked mode so I could use the stock OS and still have HDMI + BT support.
