Some more bookmarks I’ve created based around some of Stephen King’s works.
His ears go up and away.
I am told he is a rescued spotted leopard Catahoula. In the reference picture he is staring at the owner who has a treat in her hand. The piece is 11"x13". White colored pencils for highlights on birch plywood. Took me about 20 hours.
My latest dog portrait
I’m always hesitant to burn darker, it feels way too hard to fix if I mess up. Do you guys think this is dark enough? Or should I be pushing myself to burn a little hotter?
It looks like velvet in the right light. It’s only 8”x8” so it was a lot of fun.
Enjoying some biological inspiration lately
I'm now looking for any other food refs to continue because these were so fun
I'm looking forward to doing this one again sometime knowing what I know now about fur and layering. It's about 11" x 15".
For those who know… I did a surprise tribute piece and… got the date wrong! Luckily I realized before I gifted. I had to grind out the error and it left a huge indent. I learned there are BURNABLE wood fillers! I just had to buzz the right color with alcohol ink which was tough since it dries lighter. Before and after. No pics of the ugly crater because I was about to cry when I did it.
This little cephalopod is coming along quite nicely. Too many appendages to be an octopus.
Pyrography made into magnets
I know this isn't TECHNICALLY wood burning, but I feel it's a great way to showcase my work as a whole:) it makes me really think- I’ve done so many wood burnings- this is like half! Also- I like that theyre just nice ways to honor your deity each day when you pass by them. What do you think? I think it's nice to see my work in smaller (and cuter) form. I'm thinking of using one of the Hecates for morning ritual- it will definitely remind me! Critiques welcome :)
This is a composite of 4 photos I mashed together. The lighthouse is in Oregon, I believe. On maple plywood. The frame is stained red oak.
The Dark Crystal poster
I burned The Dark Crystal poster by Sergio Sandoval. I also gilded it with silver and gold. It's 11x14".
Pretty proud of this, I'd never done charring with the hot air gun like this. I feel like it came out pretty nice and I wish I could claim the light streak at the waterline is intentional that's just the perks/quirks of getting a 50 year-old reclaimed maple cutting board and using it for a sign.
Between the design, tracing, burning, conditioning, and staining it took about 20 hours. I'm giving it to him tomorrow when I get my hair cut.
I just dont want it to spread to anything else, I've had it outside for about a month now. Its still alive in the wood, there are some new holes.
Propaganda for a school project
Entirely free-handed and rushed.
