What’s up with city councilors using surveymonkey online surveys to gather district specific data on budget cut priorities?

Herr Doktor Mitch PhD Green is collecting budget priority data with a surveymonkey survey posted on social media. Avalos also did a similar poll. this seems like a completely ineffective way to poll the budget priorities of district residents for many reasons.

  1. survey monkey is cookie based. you can fill out the survey unlimited times by deleting cookies or using incognito mode in chrome.

  2. the vetting for actually living in a district is non existent. it’s self reported which means anyone can pick anything. even people outside of the state or country. again, wtf

  3. the survey itself is very biased, targeting a specific outcome.

you’d think highly educated Mitch Green would know better. no?

PPB Monitors March In Alameda Neighborhood, 1 Arrested

PPB Monitors March In Alameda Neighborhood, 1 Arrested

"A woman had a glass object resembling a flower vase and threw it on the porch of a home, breaking the vase"

---

It was Mayor Wilson's house.

The brownshirt tactic of intimidating elected officials by sending mobs to their homes really, really, needs to stop.

Multnomah County auditor launches review of gift cards, citing news report

Multnomah County auditor launches review of gift cards, citing news report

County staff are supposed to distribute the gift cards or other financial incentives, often used for things like encouraging people to obtain preventive health care or participate in focus groups, within a month of purchase. Workers are required to use logs to track how they are given out, and the logs must be filed to the health finance division within five business days of card distribution.

“Each card must have a clear purpose and be tracked like cash,” county health officials wrote in a training presentation last fall. However, in recent years, some county workers may have failed to consistently follow the tracking requirement, according to public records obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive.

In total, the county spent just over $700,000 on gift cards and prepaid incentives during the 2025 fiscal year, with the Department of County Human Services making up 47% of that spending.

Multnomah county tax cliff dropping tax revenues

PDX economists point to the drop in home prices at the fringes of Mult Co as signs that the PFA and Houseless tax will be unfunded as the cliff evolves. Buyers with even the modest income to purchase slightly higher priced homes will avoid doing so in these areas, saving around $20k per year by purchasing a few blocks away in neighboring counties. These homes will drop in value about $1-200,000. The new buyers, who are not in the income brackets taxed, will not pay these taxes. This is downward pressure in a hyperlocal market which amounts to unintended consequences of poor tax policy compounded by the lack of benefit shown to date for these tax revenues. These 2 extra taxes account for 1/3rd of the total taxes paid by these tax cliff home owners. To make up this revenue, PFA and Houseless taxes will then need to target lower incomes in much larger numbers, potentially approaching a move from 8% of residents to over one third. This short-sightedness will also impact public schools as families leave because most of these homes are those that support families who previously chose to live in the city. Urban sprawl and hollowing out of services for all are the common follow on. This is a consequence of poorly thought out fiscal policy by leadership without the education, skills and understading to do the duties needed in their roles. Will you continue this doom loop in your voting too?

Really Sweet Dog Needs Temporary or Permanent Home

Hello all! We are looking for some care for this awesome dog who belongs to a friend who is not able to care for the dog currently. We have hit some dead ends with trying to find a longer term solution for him because he doesn’t have breed papers and he is healthy but we don’t know about vet records.

I know this dog and I love him!! He’s very sweet, well trained, responsive. He’s a German shorthaired pointer and is 6 years old. He gets along well with cats and other dogs, has been around a few children and seems ok with them as well.

We are hoping to find a gem of an animal lover to take him in. We would love to find a longer term foster or a forever home for him. If you’re interested please use the email in the photo! You can dm me here but I am assisting the support efforts remotely as I live in a different city so the person coordinating the effort locally is the person in the email address! (but the dog is in Portland.) 💕🐶

John Wasielewski (WAZ) district 38 - yet another hidden DSA.

Flyer left on door step despite sign with NO. John Wasielewski (WAZ). Among recommendations was Mitch Green. Welp that’s a No. Tried to figure out whether DSA. Zero info googling - actually seems deliberately opaque.

I’m not fond of conspiracy theories but I’ve started to very much believe that Oregon is the target of the DSA.

S.M.P Co - does anyone know about this?

Hello everyone! Greetings from Michigan.

I am looking to see if anybody has any info on a company called SMP Co based out of Portland. Maybe you work/worked or knew someone who worked there. The reason for asking is my house has these door knobs created by SMP, I have tried to reverse google search these handles and find more info but have not had much luck. I'd love to get more and maybe they are more popular in your area than mine in MI! My house is mid century and built in 1952. The only lead I semi found was that there is a SMP auto company, maybe at one point they were in door knobs and hardware? I also think these do look like a retro car door handle, just turned the opposite way.

Thanks for reading!

Moving (back) to SE Portland. New mom- need to find community

Hi all,

My partner and I are moving back to SE Portland after briefly moving away. We are first time parents (we have a 15month old) and I’m a SAHM who might just lose her mind if she doesn’t get out and connect with other adults. Looking for some suggestions for mom groups, book clubs, really any type of club or activity that brings people together. I like trying new things and, again, looking to connect with good humans and build a community.

Solo female midlifer moving here from the SW, advice on current plan?

Planning to be working in Sylvan Heights area, west of the Zoo, and currently looking at places to rent downtown/near the University. I've compared rent and wages and I'd be in a similar range to where I am now. I've seen a couple comments that no one wants to live downtown anymore tho, is it really that bad? I'm not planning on clubbing at night, but I do want to enjoy city walks during the day.

I've lived in the same desert, majority religious/red suburban neighborhood (45min from city center) my entire life as a bleeding heart liberal. I want to be around more liberal, open-minded people, more green/nature/rain/clouds, more culture/arts/diversity. I have felt suffocated living in a brown/dry/cement suburb with long boring drives on long boring streets, no trees, no grass, no people outside, no animals...just relenting sun, rocks, cement, and the same cookie cutter stucco houses. I got married and had kids young, so missed college and living on my own, and I want some new living experiences. I wouldn't mind being in a cute lil neighborhood, but I also think living in a downtown city would be interesting.

I visited Portland for a week 5 years ago and almost cried the first time I walked around downtown bc I felt like I found my "people." I've spent a week in Seattle, NYC, and DC as well, loved the city vibes and using the subway, felt very energized and happy. I have adhd so things like people watching, street fashion, hustle and bustle, sights and smells, is like catnip for me. I've also spent time in Reykjavik and Edinburgh (similar small city vibes I think), and hostels in Paris and London, and loved every second. So I'm familiar with getting around a city on foot.

During the week, I'm mostly a homebody after work. I like cooking, crafting, reading, thrifting. I'd like to find a pottery studio and an archery range. On the weekends, I love to try new foods, go to art museums/libraries/coffee shops/live music. Don't really need a "nightlife" but I have read that there aren't any 24 hr drugstores (that's the biggest flaw I've found so far lol.) Love traveling, road trips and international. I have a medium/large dog I'd be walking every day, so I'd love a couple dog friendly trails/walks close by with trees. Really looking forward to walking more and being outside more and GREEN. I also love camping and hot springs (have an old 4x4 truck) so really looking forward to much more of that. I'll also be going back to school to finish my degree, then working on my masters.

Any suggestions on my plans so far? Thank you!
