It's Matchday!

Northampton vs Argyle - Sky Bet League One - Match 46!

KO 15:00

Match available to watch via SkySports+ and Argyle TV (check select audiences).

Supporters attending the game are advised to arrive early, due to an increase in searches due to the National Security threat level rising.

It's a must win.

However, a win alone confirms nothing. Argyle need both Luton and Stevenage to drop points.

Bolton host Luton.

Stevenage host Wigan.

All kickoffs at 3pm.

Excited?! Lineups to follow... COYG 🟢⚪

First kit leak of the summer.

Looks pretty genuine to me. Wish those pinstripes didn't go through the sponsor text though.

I'm least happy about Hazard being offered a new deal, he's not the keeper he was when we were in the Championship.

As our season comes to an end, here are the talking points from yesterday's game.

🟢 Overall a decent performance. Could've scored twice in 5 minutes and probably battered them. A weird 15 minute spell where the goal rocked us but, there's nothing you can do about that second goal.

⚪ Possible Joe Edwards last game in Green. Thought he had a stinker personally, but obviously hope he resigns.

🟢 Northampton fans cheering Luton/Stevenage goals and singing " you're staying down". Laughably tinpot IMO. I know some felt it was a complete insult.

⚪ Cobblers not happy with the ref. I thought he got a lot of minor decisions wrong, but he was right with both yellows for the guy who got sent off. Big decisions seemed to be fine, the small ones were all over the place. Harsh on Dale and Boateng to be booked.

🟢 Amaechi did OK when he came on. How do you rate his season?

⚪ Subs from Amaechi, Wiredu, Sorinola, Pleggy and MacKenzie is a very strong bench for League One. Surely next season, if we can retain our forwards (or adequately replace) and resign the loans, we should be pushing for top ... 6? 2??

Asked whether Baidoo would be part of his squad next season, Cleverley told Plymouth Live: "I think it's going to be unlikely. I don't think there is much appetite from the player to return.

"He's not a player we (Cleverley and his coaching staff) know too much about, obviously. We have watched clips. It's a difficult one to see what his best position is really.

"I think I would have to see him in the flesh. How suited he would be to League One, I'm also not sure.

"I'm sure he's a great guy. He was signed for a good amount of money so he had exciting potential. It has not worked out for one reason or another.

"I wish him all the best but I don't think there is much appetite for him to play in League One for Argyle."

A summary of discussion over potential investment in Plymouth Argyle

The following is gathered from a thread on PASOTI and is, at the moment, still speculation.

Charlie Methven and Erik Barmack (more on him later) were spotted at the Vale game. If you don't know, Methven is an Oxford United fan and former Sunderland Executive Director. What is he like? Well, he described fans watching illegal streams in pubs as "parasites" which, regardless on your opinion of piracy, is poor wording for a high-level club figure to use. He also wrote a rather nauseating article in The Oldie where he attempts to portray people he laid off in a poor light. Make of that what you will.

Questionable character aside, here's where it gets interesting. In March 2026, a company called Hitchin Holdings LTD was set up, with two listed individuals; the first being Erik Barmack, and the second being Mass Gerbert Schouten, a Dutch investor. Why is this interesting? Because Schouten is part of Schouten Investments, the former owner of Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem; you may know them better as Chelsea B. This looks like Schouten at Home Park but I cannot find confirmation.
On top of this, the company is registered at The Chilterns Fox in High Wycombe...which is owned by Charlie Methven.

These COULD all be coincidences, but it would be a lot, and there's no smoke without fire. But what do you think; are we reading too much into this, or are we looking at an investment group considering Argyle?

A brilliant season comes to a disappointing end. But we've come on leaps and bounds from last year.

Now we wait and see what will happen with the squad over the summer.

Tom Cleverley states Argyle position over Lorent Tolaj, Bim Pepple

Key part: Tolaj does not have a release clause in his Argyle contract but Pepple's does. Cleverley said: “There is small print around the release clause that I won’t go into but I would say positive for us.

25/26 Player Spotlight: Luca Ashby-Hammond

25/26 Player Spotlight: Luca Ashby-Hammond

Appearances: 18

Minutes: 1612

Goals: 0

Assists: 1

Clean Sheets: 2

LAH first wore Green as a trialist in pre-season in Austria. During the match, whilst receiving a back pass, LAH sliced the ball and it ended up in his own net. Despite this, he was offered a 1 year contract with Argyle.

Due to injuries faced by Conor Hazard, LAH made a large number of starts for a backup GK.

His error prone nature cost Argyle a number of points, but began to settle towards the latter stage of the season - helped perhaps by a more comfortable 10 man unit in front of him.

His highlight of the season was probably his assist for Lorent Tolaj, evidencing his sublime distribution ability, or perhaps his performance at home to Port Vale after Hazards 5th minute red card where he made a number of crucial saves.

2/5 stars for me. Perhaps a little critical, but the number of errors means I can't give him more.

Season Rating: ⭐⭐ / ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We bid farewell to Luca who has now been released. The club have him a fantastic opportunity to showcase himself at a high level and gain experience. He did offer us some decent performances. He'll no doubt get a gig in a league below. Good luck, Luca.

Rangers to have £5m Lorent Tolaj bid accepted by Plymouth (..well not really)

The title has self-populated from the article itself... But you should be aware it's very click baity.

The article also says Rangers will struggle to bid £5m.

It appears that this figure is an estimate from elsewhere in the footballing world and not from Argyle.

That said, I think £5m seems OK as a starting point for a bidding war.

The source is Pete O'Rourke, so it's not FootballInsider bollocks.

Owen Dale has been released by Oxford United

Personally, I think a permanent approach for Dale would be a no-brainer. But what are your thoughts? Do you think it'll happen?
