Failed 4th…

Hey guys, I took my NCLEX yesterday took me all the way to 150. I had 35 SATA. And I did the trick today got the bad pop up. I kinda had a feeling leaving the exam that it wasn’t hard enough but I thought I did okay. But deep down I knew it wasn’t at a high difficulty level.
My first attempt I practically didn’t study any content or do questions normally so I’m not gonna even count that as an attempt.
My second time I did simple nursing and bootcamp stopped at 112.
Third time did bootcamp and u world stopped at 150.

This time I did u world and mark k, I also finished the whole qbank I really took my time to study I was scoring averaging 69% of the qbank I did the self assessments got very high, high, and high. My CAT exams would all shut off at 85 would score at a medium difficulty level to a hard difficulty level.

I just don’t know what resource to use again. I’d say the test resembles a lot like bootcamp. But I feel like I need to practice CAT exams to maintain a higher difficulty level to adapt to the test, what do you guys recommend I’m even considering a tutor at this point.

Hey everyone, I recently took my NCLEX and passed at 150.

In the days leading up to it I felt fine, but during that last two day stretch? I was panicking. I was overthinking what I did and didn’t know to the point where I started speed running videos. On the day before, I tried to relax and just do practice questions (didn’t really help lol) but it was at 8AM the next day so not much time to stress myself out.

First half of the exam was good, I took a break at 40 questions expecting to be shut off at 85. Then 85 came. Then 100. Then 120. At that point I felt so defeated but I kept trying to remain positive. The last 20 questions I just sped through because I was mentally exhausted. I finished in 2.5 hours (this includes my 15 min break). I’m usually a fast test taker but this was me really trying to slow myself down here lol.

Anyways, I freaked out, went down reddit rabbit holes, asked around, and just felt defeated but ALAS!!!!! I PASSED!!! One and done. To God be all the Glory. I used Bootcamp and nothing else. I tried U-World but I only used it scarcely for a couple months and hated it. I DID NOT watch any Mark K, Dr. Sharon, Nurse Sarah, NONE OF IT. For me, less resources and more content worked best. Bootcamp had it ALL for me.

I truly believe if you watch all the crash course videos, do all the readiness exams, and hit the targets the set for you, you’ll be fine. The bootcamp videos are never longer than 15 minutes and they give you great tips to remember. Literally 3 videos a day + their study plan and you’ll make it through. They also have “cheat sheets” but I didn’t use those (but I am sure they will be of use to someone!!) I bought the two month bootcamp. I attached my stats to this post!! For my readiness exams I got Borderline, High, High, Very High.

If you buy bootcamp, towards the last couple of weeks make sure you narrow those practice questions down to two categories. “Learning” and “Mastered” that way you know what you don’t know and can watch videos on the topics. If you have too many in “Reviewing” it gets overwhelming.

SOME TIPS:

PLEASEEEE DO NOT go in thinking you’re going to complete just 85 questions. This is where I fumbled. Prepare yourself to do 150. If it shuts off before then, great. The amount of questions it shuts off at doesn’t matter. You can pass at 85 but you can also fail at 85.

TAKE THOSE BREAKS!!! I took one but after that 85 mark they offer you one and I didn’t take it. I think it would have eased my anxiety and prepared me mentally to do more questions. You have 5 hours to do the test… take a break.

DO SOMETHING EVERYDAY!!! Honestly some days I could literally only do the 40 practice questions but it HELPS.

DON’T GO DOWN THE REDDIT RABBIT HOLE!!!!! This one is the most hypocritical cause I did it… you’re doing it now… but if you read this entire post… stop here. It literally helps you feel some sense of security while you’re studying but after you test—it feels like a burning building that you’re stuck in. Trust your schooling, trust your critical thinking. You didn’t do years of school for nothing.

This was lengthy, but you got this RN! Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t deserve to be here. This test is not a reflection of all the work you’ve put in.

ASK ME ANYTHING!!

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well.

I wanted to come on here and share that I finally passed the NCLEX after five attempts. I know how discouraging it feels to fail multiple times, so I’m writing this in case it helps someone who’s in that same position.

I graduated from my nursing program last July and went straight into my master’s program. During nursing school, I honestly wasn’t the best student. I focused more on just passing my classes and figured I’d really learn everything once I started working. That mindset definitely hurt me when it came time to take the NCLEX.

Here’s how my attempts went:

  • 1st attempt: Took it about a month after graduating with minimal studying. I only used UWorld and just did questions—no real content review. Failed at 150.
  • 2nd attempt: Tried Bootcamp, did the Qbank and watched videos, but still didn’t focus on content. Failed again, this time at 85.
  • 3rd attempt: Switched to mostly content review but didn’t study consistently. I needed to pass to continue NP school, so the pressure was high. Failed at 150 again.
  • At this point, I had to take a leave of absence from school. Mentally, I was exhausted and honestly felt defeated.
  • 4th attempt: Studied more seriously, watched Dr. Sharon’s videos, and used UWorld readiness exams (scored high/very high on most). I thought I was ready—but I still failed at 150. This one hit the hardest.

What finally worked (5th attempt):

Before touching any Qbanks, I went back to the basics.

  • I watched all of Dr. Sharon’s fundamentals videos and her prioritization lectures
  • I took detailed notes and actually reviewed them
  • I focused on understanding core nursing concepts instead of trying to memorize everything
  • Watched some of Mark K's lectures but didn't really help me personally, Dr. Sharon's videos just get you thinking the right way for the NCLEX

Then, about 2 weeks before my exam, I started doing Qbank questions again (I used Archer this time). I’m not saying one resource is better than another—everyone learns differently—but for me, Archer felt closest to the NCLEX, especially the NGN case studies.

On my 5th attempt, I passed in 85 questions.

My biggest advice:
You don’t need to know every disease in depth. What really matters is understanding fundamentals and prioritization. If your foundation is strong, you can reason through almost any question. Get the basic questions right, the questions everyone else get right. Remember, they are testing you as a new grad nurse, not an experienced one.

If you’re struggling, don’t give up. I know how it feels—I’ve been there multiple times. Focus on the basics, stay consistent, and trust the process.

If anyone has questions, feel free to comment or message me.

Hey everyone,

My wife has been deep in the trenches studying for the NCLEX, and I saw firsthand how incredibly stressful it is. What made it worse was seeing how insanely expensive all the good study tools and QBanks are. It felt like nursing students were getting punished for just trying to get their licenses.

I’m a software developer, so I decided to do something about it. I spent the last few months building her a massive, fully functioning NCLEX QBank from scratch. She used it, it worked, and now I want to open it up to help anyone else who might be struggling with the cost of prep.

I'm not going to link it directly here so this doesn't get flagged as spam, but if you Google Nurse Practice Hub, you'll find it.

Here is what I built into it:

  • 10,200+ Questions: Covers both NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN. It's mapped strictly to the 2026 blueprint.
  • All the NGN Stuff: I know the Next Gen formats are the scariest part, so I coded all 10 item types (Bow Ties, Matrix, Case Studies, Trend questions, Drag-and-Drop, etc.).
  • Detailed Rationales: Every single question explains exactly why the answer is right or wrong.
  • Analytics & Streaks: Tracks your weak areas so you know what clinical domains to focus on.

The totally transparent catch: I wanted to make this 100% free forever, but servers and hosting cost money. So, to keep it sustainable and free for everyone, the free plan limits you to 20 questions a day.

Honestly, doing 20 questions a day consistently is one of the best ways to build a study habit anyway without burning out. There is no trial period, no credit card required, and no hidden BS. You just sign in with Google and start practicing. (There are paid tiers if you want unlimited daily questions, but the 20/day is there for anyone who needs it, forever).

I really hope this helps some of you pass and takes a little bit of the financial weight off your shoulders.

Let me know if you guys have any feedback or feature requests! I’m still actively working on it. Good luck to everyone testing soon! 🩺

I am going to take my NCLEX in about three weeks, and I'm not sure where to start. I would like to hear about other people's experiences. The materials I'm using are my ATI Live Review Materials and relying mostly on the dynamic quizzes on ATI. I feel like I have forgotten a lot of information or haven't learned enough(especially in pharm and adult med surg), and I don't want to overwhelm myself. I'm wondering if anyone passed the NCLEX by just using the ATI dynamic quizzes or if y'all have taken it, feeling very unconfident in knowing the material.
