Passed in 85!

Hi everyone. Got the quick results this morning and saw that I passed 🥳

Here’s how I prepped:

- Uworld, 70% of qbank used with 73% avg (I took a self assessment and got borderline like a week out from my exam… i wouldn’t put too much stock in those)

- Bootcamp (did most of the 6 week study plan but mostly focused on the case studies and cheat sheets)

- Mark K yellow book

- NCLEX crusade 7 day series + a bunch of Dr. Sharon videos

I would only study 3-4 hours a day. I feel like taking breaks and keeping your mind fresh is more important than doing too much. If you did okay in nursing school I feel like the best thing you can do is learn test taking strategies (NCLEX crusade and Dr. Sharon were SO helpful). It really is unlike any exam I took in school and I don’t think any amount of prep would’ve made me feel like I was ready!

tldr: how are you passing your tests?

hey, y'all. i'm coming to you dismayed after having failed a test. normally, i'm around the 77-82 range for test scores, but the last two i've taken have been abysmal. i'm frustrated because I feel like as I'm refining my technique and catering more to specifically what the teachers are telling us to study/how to study it, i'm doing worse. i don't understand what else i could be doing.

- i write and learn the LATTE method for each disease we study (what will the patient Look like, how to Assess them, Tests to anticipate, Treatment, and Education for the patient/family)
- i take as many NCLEX/kaplan exam test banks as I can find and typically do pretty well on those (high 70s)
- i have a bunch of workbooks specifically tailored for finding your mistakes on MC and SATA
- i watch youtube videos explaining disease processes
- i go to every class
- i spend about 5 hrs a day studying

what else could i be doing? are there things that have worked for y'all that you don't see listed here?

NEW YORK (what experience is needed)

Hello po! Anong experience ba ang need kapag new york ang pupuntahan? Dapat ba bedside? Like sa ward? Or okay lang din kahit special areas like hemodialysis, icu, er, etc…

Tips on studying fundamentals

Hello, one of my weak points is fundamentals. I only got 60% 😭 (I’m using Bootcamp). So what I’m doing now is reviewing the fundamentals cheat sheets again and retaking all the fundamentals questions. I also watch some of Dr. Sharon’s fundamentals videos, but I don’t think I can finish all of them since there are 75 in total 🥲

Do you think that’s enough? Or do you have any other suggestions?

1st attempt - pass, 2nd attempt- failed. Advise please

Hello po, silent reader here. I would like to ask for advise sana, na-anxious ako regarding my upcoming exam. Initial plan ko to take it on April 8 pero minove ko po. Aside sa may work ako on april 8 , feel ko hindi pa ako ready. Idk pero ubos na rin energy ko and gusto ko na lang din matapos magexam. Hingi po ako ng advise on how to utilize the remaining days. I am working as ICU nurse and tuwing day off lang ako nakakapagaral.

Here’s my stat sa bootcamp, hindi po ako nagconcept i just answer questions then nung 3 days remaining nalang saka ko pinanood yung crash course vids. Idk if basahin ko pa po ba yung cheatsheet i know baligtad i should’ve study concept first pero parang wala na akong energy to read concepts :(( I also availed simplify nclex but hindi ko po sya na-utilize kasi super haba ng videos kaya nagfocus lang ako sa qbanks. Do you think I can pass? Kahit na hindi po ako masyado nagbasa ng concepts? Kinakabahan me so much dami kong nababasa na ang hirap na ng exam this april

Also nagtry na rin po ng naxlex after end of my bootcamp subscription ,pasado po first attempt of adaptive cat last march 20 , wasn’t able to rationalize it then nagtry po ako uli sagutan ngayon but failed on 150 huhu kaya kaanxious malala. Susubukan ko pa lang po RAT and some of CAT na di ko pa natapos. What do you guys think should i avail more qbanks? magconcept pa ba ako or whaaat huhu :((( lito na ko sa life. I wanted to take the exam na pero natatakot me :((

Let's practice clinical reasoning together — what's your first nursing action? 🧠

Seeing a lot of posts about struggling with prioritization questions so I wanted to try something different.

Here's a scenario. Reply with what you would do FIRST and why — not just the answer, the reasoning behind it.

You're caring for a 72-year-old male, 2 days post-op from hip replacement. He calls out saying he feels short of breath. You walk in and find:

RR 28, labored

O2 sat 89% on room air

HR 118, BP 142/88

He's anxious and restless

Left calf is swollen and tender

What's your first action and what clinical reasoning got you there?
