I just tested out Flatout 4 VR

I got yesterday the game played over 2 hrs and I must say that I have great forts impressions. The game looks gorgeous on psvr2 and even it's an old game the graphics still hold. The chaos the destruction is so much fun.

Since this is an early access I find some bugs, nothing game breaking and I don't think it's too hard to fix.

My specs are Ryzen 7 7800x3d, normal 4070 and 32 gb ram. I use both Psvr2 and Quest 3s. With settings on high. With Psvr2 I manage to play 60 reprojected to 120hz using the full 100% SteamVR resolution. With fix fps unlock I was getting 75 to 80 fps so I believe if I low the resolution a bit I could get the 90 fps. But I wanted to see the game in all it's full resolution.

I'm posting here one race I did. Sorry for the low fps on the capture since recording on PC takes too much of my fps I ended up using the Quest to capture. But the setting were the same that I use with Psvr2.

Looking for a new pcvr headset and wondering if the vr2 is a good option

Hi there! I've been looking around for a good upgrade to my oculus rift s I've had for a few years, it's starting to show its wear and tear and I would like something a bit nicer. I was thinking about getting a quest of some sort used but then I came across the Psvr2, I don't plan to use it standalone so I wondered if the psvr is a better option for desktop vr? I can get it for about 275$ total with the adapter it looks like

Hi all,

Thinking of buying one of these and wanted to get your thoughts. I've read that I need an Asus adapter and the ps to pc adapter too and then this works really well with low latency for pc games.

Do you recommend I get one or are there other problems that I should be aware of?

Cheers!

Greetings.

I previously owned a Quest 3 but ended up selling it. Now that I have more free time, I’m looking to get back into VR and would appreciate advice on which headset is the superior choice for my needs.

Use Case: Mostly Sim Racing, Flying, and Star Citizen.

Wireless is nice, but I don't really care about it. I'm not going to be moving around while playing these games. I have never experienced Fresnel Lenses, so I'm not sure how big of a downgrade it'll be.

The Quest 3 felt very dim, and in reviews I noticed that the PSVR2 is much brighter due to the "downgrade" fresnel lenses. Also, the Quest 3 felt like I was wearing binoculars and looking at a game through them rather than being there.

I also don't care for the standalone aspect of the Quest 3, I'll be playing exclusively on PC. I understand the PSVR2 will feel like a ~20-30% clarity downgrade, but if we put the spec sheet aside, which of these two headsets would give you a better experience if immersion is paramount?

I understand there are better headsets that can offer almost zero compromise, but I'm not willing to purchase a 2,000€ headset from Pimax, or some other company.

Welp, I'm done dickin with that! I've been trying for DAYS to get the psvr2 working with MSFS24 on the PC. I have a pretty nice PC so I thought, what the heck. AMD RYZEN 5 5600X, AMD RX 6700XT with 32gb of ram. F*cker refuses to work well. I've tried every setting you can imagine. Overclocking, bios changed, fing everything. Could only really get it working well in low graphics. Sits at like 30fps or less. Meanwhile in non-vr mode the thing runs great! Even with graphics cranked.

I guess I'll just play it on PS5 unless someone has any ideas to get it to work better.

TIA

I own a PSVR2 headset and a fairly capable PC. I'm making a case for (or against) getting a base-model PS5. Are there any VR games which are available on PC but are better on PS5?

I'm ready for some compromises in raw visual fidelity in exchange for features not available on PC (HDR, haptics), more consistent foveated rendering (I have an AMD card so PimaxMagic4All won't work for me), or just more thought put into their VR modes (like in Resident Evil).

I had an extremely frustrating time trying to solve bluetooth issues with the official PSVR2 PC adapter.

I started out with the Sony recommended TP-Link UB500 adapter but immediately ran into issues where I would lose the connection to my right controller. TP-Link released an updated driver that was said to fix the issue so I tried that. It did not fix the issue.

Nothing I tried fixed the issue.

Next I turned to the ASUS USB-BT500 adapter which Sony also recommends and which some people on this sub said worked better than the TP-Link adapter.

It did not work better than the TP-Link adapter.

When I searched online, I found many threads from users who had gone through the exact same experience I was having. Finally someone in another thread (sorry I don't remember your name!) recommended I get an external bluetooth antenna, as shown below:

https://www.amazon.com/Eightwood-Tri-Band-Magnetic-Extension-Computer/dp/B0C3485467?th=1

And that solved all of my problems. After hooking up the external antenna, EVERY bluetooth related issue I had run into was simply GONE, just like that. No issues since I switched to the external antenna. I was on the verge of giving up on using my PSVR2 with my PC, and now it simply works, every time.

So my question is: why should anyone have to go through all that in the first place when there is already a simple, KNOWN solution? Other users here are already aware of the antenna fix--I know because someone here actually made fun of me for not already knowing about it--but the reason I didn't know about it is because it is not as widely discussed as the adapters Sony officially recommends.

So why isn't there a thread about using an external antenna stickied at the top of this sub?

(Please note that this antenna needs to be hooked up to your motherboard's built=in bluetooth card via its coaxial connections. I didn't even know my motherboard had this, but most do).

TLDR: Forget all the advice you read about bluetooth adapters. Just get an external bluetooth antenna.

DisplayPort broken: alternatives?

I found out that my displayport of my Low Profile RTX 3050 (it has only one) is broken. I had the recurring "Check DisplayPort" problem in the psvr2 app while trying to connect it using the official psvr2 pc adapter. I tried all sorts of things, but finally went on to test the DisplayPort itself. I cannot connect a monitor to it with a displayport to hdmi adapter or a displayport to hdmi cable, while I'm pretty sure both the cables and the adapter work. The cable is not being blocked by the bracket, it fits entirely in the port. My two HDMI ports work fine. Can anybody think of an alternative way to connect my psvr2 to my pc?
Thank you.

Wow this thing is an upgrade over the meta quest 3 for gaming and goonin 😂. Oled colors are perfect for vr i wouldnt have it any other way anymore. My meta 3 has officially become a boxing headset 😞. Thought i was still gonna use it for porn but nah oled colors+ display port( no compression artifacts )make everything completely lifelike😹🤷🏻‍♂️. Also it’s like looking thru binoculars in comparison to the fov on the psvr2. Going back to the meta 3 i was shocked with how much worse it was besides simple clarity

Currently trying to optimize MSFS24 in VR and it's proven difficult without seeing an FPS count. On flat screen I use Rivatuner but it doesn't show in VR.

fpsVR isn't free so I just want to make sure it works on PSVR2 before buying.

Thanks

As someone who has recently come back to PC gaming after 15 years or so, I'm stunned by how everything fights each other (mainly software) and general bloat. Been reading about slimmed down versions of Windows. Seems like the business sector version is about as slimmed down as you can get (LTSC). Anyone running this with PSVR2? TIA.

  1. The cutscenes in VR are bloody amazing. Lots of motion captured actors (use decoupled camera in reframework) Feels like youre starring in a 300 million dollar horror movie.
  2. Best graphics in VR (Half life Alyx looks old compared to it...Levels are only abandoned factories too, very, very dull
  3. For full resolution needs at least a 5070ti with DLSS balanced (DLSS clarity is astounding...PS5 version is a blurry reprojected mess compared to it)

Has anyone used PSVR2 with the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 Gen 10 5080(model 83F50052US)?

Looking at picking one up and want to use it with PSVR2 before committing to a purchase with a poor return policy.
The laptop has an RTX 5080 with USB-C (DP 2.1) and Thunderbolt 4 (DP 2.1) ports — both reportedly wired directly to the dedicated GPU. I know Sony officially says USB-C DisplayPort isn’t supported with the PC adapter, but I’ve seen reports of it working on other machines via a USB-C → DisplayPort 1.4 cable (Cable Matters or Club3D).
Specifically wanting to play Half-Life: Alyx with zero issues. Has anyone tested this exact model, or a Legion Pro 7 Gen 10 generally, with PSVR2? Did it work with the adapter + USB-C → DP 1.4 cable?
Any firsthand experience appreciated — positive or negative.

I've been using a relic that is the quest 1 with quest link since its release and I recently upgraded to the psvr2. Problem is that it just runs blade and sorcery much worse.

I have an RTX 5070, ryzen 9900x, and 32gb DDR5 ram. I feel like it shouldn't be running so bad.

any settings or drivers that I'm missing? or is the hardware just not good enough?

I wanted to share this in the hopes it helps someone else. I dont have any VR space in my gaming room where my PC is, so I use a 16 foot DisplayPort cable and 16 foot USB active extension cable into a powered USB Hub to be able to hook up the headset in another room where I have space. My motherboards built in bluetooth signal, and there are no antenna wire extensions for the model, has too much interference from the other room so I use a approved dongle. I would have constant controller teleports, freezes, drops, etc etc.

I went through multiple dongles, drivers, placement in a powered USB hub, Placed higher up, (the red square was where it worked best previously) etc etc. The TPlink dongle with the PSVR2 Beta driver worked the best but within 5-10 minutes it would always start acting up. I pretty much just gave up on every having a good experience with the PSVR2 until i was in a better space that i could have my PC and a play space closer to each other.

I revisited the issue and realized that bluetooth uses the 2.4ghz band, and that the dongle was literally directly above my wifi router. It was literally choking out the bluetooth signal. I moved the dongle a few feet over in the room to another wall, and everything works perfectly now! So excited actually use the headset now and get on some PC VR gaming.

I could potentially have turned off the 2.4ghz radio on my router (I use it still for some things), another option is that some routers, and DD-WRT, have a setting called "Bluetooth Coexistence" which would also potentially solved the issue, but alas mine does not (TPLINK AXE5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Router)

Hope this helps someone!

How to force the psvr2 to initialize faster?

I own four other headsets besides the PSVR2 that are all plugged in all at the same time. When I try to use the psvr2, it cant initialize fast enough. Is there a way to fix this? Maybe some way to force steam VR to only use the psvr2?

I’ve had my psvr2 for a year now and to be honest it’s been amazing to me until recently when I hadn’t used it for 2-3 months.

It couldn’t detect my play area so I deleted the play area and tried to scan again but no matter what it keeps coming up with the error “can’t track surroundings” . Initially I assumed it could be software related or whatever so deleted steam vr and psvr app from steam and re downloaded it and now can’t get past the setup where it wants me to scan my room . It still shows the same message of can’t track surroundings. From the steam vr I can see that my controllers are tracking .

I haven’t changed anything in my room , same lighting same everything.I’ve cleaned the lenses. I even sometimes take it downstairs in my living room to play vr when It used to work but still the same issue there Aswell.

Please tell me there is a solution for this and someone has experienced this Aswell . TIA

After a year of not having this headset after an old one broke, I finally got a new one to play with. All the issues I had with noticing mura, gone. The visual clarity issues, gone. This thing is amazing! The colors are great, the triggers are awseome, especially in pcvr with the toolkit. Everything is just great.... except for the fact I can not use this thing for 5 minutes without wanting to pluck every hair on my body off. It is just so uncomfortable. Its very front heavy, leading to me needing to tighten it so hard my skull collapses on itself. I have tried finding a medium, but even still, it just does not feel good. I have made sure it was on right, made sure the back part was low on the back of my head, different distances from my face. I have tried the default strap and the globular cluster. What is your experince, and how can you fix or deal with this issue?
