I've been having problems signing in like many others

I've been having the same problems as lots of people lately signing into my hotmail. Sending code to phone that doesn't come through, saying password wrong element though it's right, change password then says it's wrong, send code to alternate email. Well... I'm now on for now and will be moving all my services to another email provider. I've also set up email forwarding to an alternate email just in case I can't get in again. It is happening to too many people for too long for it just to be a mistake. I feel that MS is targeting those on old hotmail and free accounts.

Microsoft Authenticator App

How safe is the Microsoft authenticator app?

I was continually having issues signing into my Hotmail account ("you have tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect password" etc) which seems to be a common theme on here.

I managed to sign in on my laptop using my Windows key.fed up with all this nonsense with my apparently 'incorrect' password (which it was not!) I downloaded and set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on my phone.

Now I seem to be able to sign in ok using this.

My question is - is this a safe way to sign in?

Also, what do I do whenever I change my phone?

Thanks

"You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password": Can anyone help?

Can anyone who has an msn.com or hotmail.com email address confirm if they're having this issue? I have one of each, and they're both VERY important emails. All of my stuff is on them and I need them. It was working earlier today, but now I can't get into either. Was I hacked? Or is this a weird serverwide thing? I'm legitimately panicking over this. The worst part is that I can't even reset my password because I'm getting screwed over by 2FA. I put in my phone code (can't use my other email since I can't sign into that either), and then it tells me to use the other email anyway! What gives???

Microsoft Customer Service HELL

Hello there.

For over six weeks now I have been trying to recover my Outlook account that has been compromised and is very important.

I have been in contact with Microsoft almost every single day.

Ticket history is not being read

Same exact steps are being given

False promise to false promise

Incorrect information

Leaving support chat when misunderstood

Extreme horrible fake empathy

Not being able to provide me with the resources to file a complaint

It has been hell and its eating my patience alive. I've never really been frustrated or mad at customer support but this actually is testing my patience. With guess what after six weeks? No solution at all. Just the same endless stuff all over again. The same messages. The same empathy. The same steps. The same answer, the same promises.

I cannot explain my frustration.

Outlook Issues and Switching Emails

So, I've had my email with Outlook for as long as I can remember, how feasible is it to switch all my accounts linked with my Outlook email to a new email if I were to do so? Is it even possible or depends on what we're talking about? Banking, social media, Steam, the list goes on and on. And if it is feasible, what is the best email to go with? Gmail?

To update on why I'm wanting to switch emails (since I made a post a couple days ago), I just cannot access both of my outlook accounts anymore. After probably weeks of not checking into my email, I tried and it gave me the error message saying I've attempted too many times with incorrect info, even though I know it is correct. This not only happens for my main email, but also the email I have linked with it for recovery purposes

I somehow managed to reset my password, then the next one or two days when I tried to log in again, same issue. The new password doesn't work, it refuses to send my phone codes, the codes it sends my other email for recovery purposes I can't access because I get the same error message for that email as my main, and any help I've tried to get from Microsoft has lead to nothing

One person I talked to from Microsoft suggested using a VPN on my cell phone and using mobile data, that didn't work. I tried to contact them again, and they just told me to wait another 24 hours even though I tried that already and it didn't do anything. I can't use the recovery form because apparently that doesn't work with 2FA, so I'm basically screwed unless this is on Microsoft's side and eventually they fix it

Windows 11 “Unable to login. Please try again in a few minutes”

Tried logging into outlook on my new Lenovo laptop. My Gmail account synced just find with everything else on the computer, but for some reason I cannot login to outlook. Keep getting error code “unable to login. Please try again in a few minutes”.

-tried the good old fashioned restart. Nothing.

-cleared cached credentials via credential manager.

-made sure IMAP was enabled on Gmail account

-uninstalled outlook and reinstalled

-changed Microsoft Edge to default browser

-deleted MS access to my Gmail account, then allowed everything again through Edge (not chrome). Looked promising but didn’t help.

Now I remember why I switched over to Apple products years ago. I didn’t have to deal with all these petty issues. This is so frustrating - any suggestions are much appreciated.

Got an account security alert and a text, but no sign in code/2 step verification?

I got an email from noreply@accountprotection.microsoft.com (seemingly genuine) and also a text saying “Microsoft: Someone else might have accessed [email address]. Recover at aka.ms/alcs”.

The email said “We think that someone else might have accessed the Microsoft account [email address].

When this happens, we require you to verify your identity with a security challenge and then change your password the next time you sign in.

If someone else has access to your account, they have your password and might be trying to access your personal information or send junk email.”

- So, it seems someone managed to get into my outlook account, but I have 2-step verification on and didn’t receive a code or anything on my other email or text, just the alert that someone accessed it.

Does anyone know how this is possible? I’ve had the login codes from people trying to get into it before, but never this one! I’ve changed my password (not via any links, just to be on the safe side) but unsure about this.

Please help: Verification method not working (code to phone number)

I changed phones recently but kept the same number.

I'm rying to sign in to one of my emails. This email I've only used for specific accounts like Onlyfans and Amazon, I had only used it on my previous phone and just for those accounts (changing passwords, verifying accounts etc.)

When it tells me to finish my last 4 digits of my phone number I do, however I don't get the text. So I try again.

By trying again it then tells me that "this verification method is not available"

I've tried on different devices, same thing.

I've been able to access accounts I've created with this email but the email itself.

I've also tried recovering the account where it asks me to write the name, old passwords, email addresses I've contacted and subject names of emails I've sent. I did all that except the email addresses/subject names since as I mentioned I only have this email for those accounts. I quickly get a reply that they couldn't confirm it's me.

I can't find no way to speak to anyone to help with this I feel if they actually are able to send me the code I can easily confirm it's me like I've done with the accounts associated with the email

Can someone please shine some light, this is frustrating and I'm worried of being fully blocked out of my accounts if I can't resolve this
