10.3 Gen 2 Lumi Eink Settings

10.3 Gen 2 Lumi Eink Settings

On my last 10.3 go I managed to sort out my Eink settings, but struggling with my gen 2 lumi.

See the attached photo, moving from apps screen to settings screen the ghosting is very noticeable.

I have set up side swipe to do a full refresh but would like to improve the current settings.

Do you have any settings that you use which you can share.

Thanks in advance.

Next Tab X release?

I am wanting to get a color Boox tablet for note-taking and PDF reading/annotation, and the Tab X C is definitely my top choice in terms of screen size and hardware (faster CPU, etc) but the outdated Android version (13 vs 15) and the lack of SD card expansion are what's holding me back.

Has Boox released any information anywhere indicating when they are planning to release the next generation of Tab X devices, and whether they will use Android 15 and have SD card support?

Alternatively, for those of you who have used both devices, how much slower would you say the Note 5C (2Ghz Snapdragon 690 CPU) is compared to the Tab X C (2.8Ghz Snapdragon 855 CPU)?

Thoughts on how to take notes that synch without having my Boox on hand ?

Do any of you have a solution for taking notes on the move? For example, with other brands you can edit your notes on your phone or computer. I like to take notes when travelling without my Boox ( even more so now that it’s a 13.3 inch) and I want them to synch to my Boox. Any thoughts ?

Palma 2: issue with volume buttons for page turning in Kindle?

Hi, as title says, I’m having an issue changing the volume buttons to work for page turning on the Palma 2 in the Kindle app.

I have enabled the appropriate setting in both the Kindle app itself and the app’s “optimize” menu on the device.

I have seen instructions online to go to the device’s settings and click “short press function” for volume buttons, but that is not appearing for me (see photo).

Would appreciate any help/insight. Thanks!

Self-hosted cross device sync progress

Hey people,

Recently found the joy of reading again, at the age of 45.
I usually feel pretty tech savy, but I am having a hard time getting cross device progess working.
What are you guys using?
I have a self-hosted BookLore server and use Moon Reader+ on my Note Air 3C, but Moon Reader+ does not play well with BookLore and OPDS.

Boox Go Lumi 2 …sorta like it, but..

Cons

-hate the case. Wtf. Are there any other options?

-hate the pen. Not because of the writing but the pen feels cheap and it’s too round. It also has some rough edges on the end and yet is too slippery. Go figure. I assume there are no other options.

-I wish it were smaller. A tablet this size is just not good for reading without some sort of case to hold it and feel like it is safe

-there are some sharp edges to the tablet itself. As if the metal casing specs were slightly off.

-because of the shitty case, I feel like the device is unprotected and I am scared about damaging it. It feels vulnerable.

-

Pros

-I think there is a lot of good here. The screen is really nice. You do have to tweak the display but I think it looks good and the writing is good.

-the battery life is good enough

-access go the kindle store is nice.

-the operating systems seems nicely thought out for what it is

Other notes…

-this is not a tablet replacement. You’d be crazy to buy this to fit a role of a real tablet or even a big smart phone.

-the App Store does add something though and being able to run certain apps like the Kindle is important to me.

I probably should give up on finding a good e-ink reader that can take notes.

Ideally, it would be a smaller 7 inch e-ink tablet that can pull serious battery time, has a stylus and can run the kindle app. It has to be quality. No one wants a laggy device and a shit pen. My ultimate goal was to do active reading.

Taking notes while reading but it seems like I can’t find that sweet spot. All of these devices are too expensive to not be completely happy. Also dumb is to split your universe between Apple and Android. Lessons learned. Moving on. iPad seems like the way to go.

Can anyone help me out with this?

So I downloaded these 2 fonts (both in otf and ttf formats) but they aren't showing up in my imported fonts tab. Am I doing something wrong? I downloaded them from my phone and Booxdropped it to my device, am I missing a step here or?

I'm still new to the boox ecosystem so I'm still getting used to how it works :')

Go 10.3 Gen II Lumi - FeelWrite 2/Pentips

As far as I understand ceramic tips are not usable because of the USI stylus...

Did any1 try to use Feelwrite 2 without them? Is it usable with USI?

And main question: are there already third party nibs for Go 10.3 Gen II Lumi?

Deactivate virtual keyboard when physical keyboard connected.

I was having issues with deactivating the virtual keyboard after updating firmware and all I did was following this instructions and toggling a couple times the option and it worked. So I wanted to share:

To deactivate the on-screen virtual keyboard when a physical Bluetooth or OTG keyboard is connected to your Boox device, follow these steps:

Method 1: The Quick Settings Toggle

Most modern Onyx Boox firmware versions include a direct toggle in the Physical Keyboard settings.

  1. Connect your physical keyboard via Bluetooth or USB.

  2. Go to Settings > Languages & Input.

  3. Tap on Physical Keyboard.

  4. Look for a toggle switch labeled Show virtual keyboard (or "Keep on-screen keyboard").

  5. Turn this OFF. The virtual keyboard will now stay hidden as long as the physical one is active.

boox tablets for essay writing

Hi guys! I'm a uni student, and I've been casually looking at e-ink tablets (specifically Boox, and an emphasis on casually, since I'm a typical broke uni student) for a bit, but I was wondering: does anyone have any experience using, say, Microsoft Word or Google Docs on any of the tablets that are compatible with a keyboard?

I'm seeing a lot of posts emphasising note taking and PDF annotating, but what about the experience of typing out an essay? Do any of the Boox tablets hold up in that way, or would you guys just recommend a regular laptop/non-eink tablet?

Stylus Replacement for Onyx Boox air note 5c

So where do I buy the stylus pen that came with my Boox Air Note 5C? If can't buy it, what would be a good replacement for it?

Can I play chess and go on Palm 2 Pro?

I have a nova 3 color and I enjoy playing chess.com and yikeweiqi.com on it. I’m thinking to upgrade to the palm 2pro for its portability, but a bit worried the smaller screen size and less pixels will make it harder for board games, especially Go.

Have anyone tried it? Please share your experience. Thanks!

Boox vs kobo devices - screen fragility and usage impact

I have a boox note 5C tablet. But after reading about the fragility of boox screens, I've been extremely careful with it. So much so that I don't end up using it as much as I want to since I don't carry it with me everywhere.

On the other hand, I have a kobo libra 2 e-reader which I carry in my sling bag everywhere. And it makes it easy for me to pick it up and read and make use of it most of the time.

Am I being excessively paranoid about boox screens? Can I carry my boox tablet as well in my sling/ messenger bag? Are they as sturdy as kobo devices?

How can I fix my kindle scribe?

I just woke up to this randomly. The pixels that are weird can still change colors and take inputs, so I think that's a good sign that it's not completely broken. But how might I fix this?

DIY twin screen e-ink E reader

I hapen to have a 6" Poke 2 color and also a similar but black and white screen Poke4 lite. Ideally the 2 sides would be identical screen types but this is just an little experiment and making do with what I have. Temporarily hinged together the 2 Boox with copious amounts of black masking tape so they fold up like an actual book. Total weight is 280g. Folded up it can still slip easily into a trouser pocket. MobileSheets is the magical music app ingredient which allows the 2 sides to sync up for pages turn touches via bluetooth. Giving it a try sat on a local park bench, I think I could get used to this novelty form factor for ebook reading holding one handed from below at the kink in the middle. I'm not a musical performer so the vast majority of the music app features are of no use to me. Do any musicians here know if I need to cough up for 2 Mobile Sheets licenses? Ideally I only need a stripped down version just for reading ebooks. If you know of other apps that can do this double page turning trick on 2 screens let me know.

If Boox incorporated this pairing feature into their NeoReader app and came up with a cover case that physically connected a couple of Go 6 together as a package... they could sell a few extra units to the curious people out there.

How often are widgets updated or at all in standby?

Hello,

I have made a widget screen, which I see, when my note air4c is on standby.

It seems the widgets are not updated in standby. Can this somehow be done. E.g. every 30min? My widget shows the energy production of my PV on the roof and I want to see the actual consumption at least with some delay, whenever I look at the note.

Palma/Kobo/8bitduo

Has anyone been able to get the 8Bitduo to work as a page turner in the kobo app. I’m not having any luck on my Palma2. I’ve installed the app/mapped keys and turned on blue tooth. It just refreshes the page when I try to use it

Go 10.3 Lumi - no update to 4.2?

Hi,
yesterday I got the Go 10.3 (Gen II) Lumi - quite the mouthful - and it came with 4.1.1.
AFAIK the update to 4.2 has been released two weeks ago, and when I look into the Update History it even shows another update from 18th of April. However, my device insists on already having the latest update. Anything I can do to get the 4.2 update? Thanks
