Trying to fix performance issues in 2026

Hello!

I am wondering if what I am having are "normal" performance issues for my hardware or something is wrong.

From what I've read on the web, most of the performance issues were fixed in the first couple of month after release.

**My hardware (HP Omen laptop):**

* CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14650HX (2.20 GHz)

* GPU: RTX 5070 Laptop GPU (8 gb)

* RAM: 32 gb

* 1920x1080 external display (monitor)

**My issues**:

**Number 1 -- Poor performance without DLSS.**

With DLSS turned off and MEDIUM (2 out of 4) graphics settings, I am getting 30-50 FPS in general.

Is it really expected to be this low with my hardware? For context, my laptop is plugged.

---

**Number 2 -- Weird behaviour with DLSS turned on.**

This question is what bothers me most. When playing with DLSS on (and with MEDIUM graphics settings), I am basically rolling the dice.

Sometimes performance might be pretty good (attached video, before the mark of 00:45), I am getting solid 70-100 FPS), but most of the times I am getting a very weird thing:

FPS counter claims, that I am getting 35-60 FPS, but it seems/feels like every few frames the picture kind of "freezes" for a fraction of second. You can see this in the attached video starting at 01:04.

---

**Question**

Is this normal? Do you experience this too? Are there any known tweaks/mods that fix this? I've thought about installing "Ultimate Engine Tweaks (Anti-Stutters - More Performance - Lower Latency - Better Clarity - Lossless)", but I've read somewhere that the issues, this mod was aimed at, were resolved with updates.

Hey everyone!

We're back with another update on Oblivion Multiplayer (O:MP), our community multiplayer mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Since the first teaser dropped a couple of weeks ago we've been heads down on the core sync systems, and today we want to show you where things actually stand.

This update covers three things we've got working: magic and spell effect sync, bow mechanics, and location transitions. Spells now show up for all players in real-time, bow draw, aim, release and arrow physics all work across clients, and walking through a door now moves your character between exterior and interior in sync for everyone on the server. You'll still spot rough edges and bugs - we're actively working through them, but wanted to show real progress rather than wait until everything is perfect.

For those who missed the first post - we're the team behind WukongMP, a community multiplayer mod for Black Myth: Wukong. OblivionMP is built on the same platform, ReadyM, and we're bringing the same approach here: community-run servers, a full C# scripting SDK for server owners and modders to build custom experiences on top of the game, and an open early access program so the community helps shape what gets built.

If you're interested in running a server or building something on top of OblivionMP when the SDK drops, we'd love to hear from you!

I’ve never really played an Elder Scrolls game before (aside from about six minutes of Skyrim) and I’ve run into a problem. I love the idea of playing Oblivion and being immersed in its world, but when I actually sit down to play, I don’t enjoy it as much. The expectation of the experience ends up being more appealing than the experience itself, and it keeps me from fully enjoying the game. The open world with its features and being able to chose to do so many things sounds awesome when i think about it, but ingame i feel hindered by the thought of what the game is expecting me to do?!

Do any of y'all have some ideas? I really want to enjoy this especially because my girlfriend loves elder scrolls games so much and spent so much time growing up playing these games and i wanna share these experiences with her

I sat down to play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and thought—why not absolutely break the game by clearing it to zero? The Steam achievements are easy, strictly quest-based. But the 146% completion was a true challenge. 500 hours of pure madness. Especially the 100 Oblivion gates. No cheats, but with a mod to open all 100 gates (without it, only 60 are available). It was a matter of principle. And insanity. Uncle Sheo is pleased.

Help with a status effect and how to remove it

A friend sent me this and we are struggling to remove this effect from his screen. He says theres nothing in his Active Effects page that tell him what it is. I belive it is some kind of weakness, but praying at a shrine, a dispel potion/spell didnt work, resting 24 hours didnt work and hes not eager to reload 3 hours of a previous save.

Of anyone has tips, very appreciated
