just found out Optimum is in my building for $25 for 5yrs. Been with Verizon FiOS for the last 10+ years and have issues 2 times i believe? current FiOS pricing is $49.99. Do i try and get price match from Verizon or just bite the bullet and switch over to Optimum?

I just upgraded to the 2 gig via phone call and they said that my current modem needs to be upgraded? Is this accurate ? I have a scheduled appointment but I thought that the current modem/router box is capable of 2gig. I just found through chat it needs a gpon fiber. If this is the case is this a big job or just a swap of a modem box?

I just switched to Optimum fiber and the technician installed an Altice Labs GR140IG gateway. The $25/month promotion wording is "INTERNET EQUIP, TAXES & FEES: For online orders, standard rates for professional installation may apply where free Self-Setup is available. Gateway fee auto-renews monthly at $0/mo. + taxes & fees for 12 months, after which price will go up no more than $5/mo. per year until standard rates reached. Limit 1 per household. Min system req’s & equip configs apply."

I should have 12 months to figure out how to avoid paying an equipment fee for mandatory equipment that Optimum does not sell, nor are there available 3rd party gateways. If I buy a GR140IG or a GR140DG used, can I hook that up and return the provided gateway? Or is there another solution?

Any equipment return I do, I will get a receipt.

I’m about to pull the trigger on optimum fiber 2 gig plan, and I just make sure I got my facts straight.

I want to use my own TPLink Wi-Fi 7 mesh routers, and from what i gather, to do that I’d have to ask the technician or customer support to put the router into bridge mode.

What exactly does bridge mode do? Does it turn their gateway into a passthrough device and lets my TPLink router handling all “routing”? Or will their gateway still act a router and my TPLink will be another router?

TIA

Recently switched to Optimum Fiber. Happy as can be with the internet, very stable, very reliable, service has been fantastic.

The IPTV boxes on the other hand have been a bit of a nightmare.

- One of them suddenly stopped displaying a TV signal for about 30 minutes for no reason the other day. After an extended power cycle, it resolved itself, but it made no sense

- The boxes themselves are reponsive enough with the guide, however I routinely have issues with audio sync and delayed live TV (specifically for live sports)

- I have all my boxes wired with LAN plugs in order to improve reliability, but the boxes themselves only come with Fast Ethernet, and not Gigabit Ethernet ports, which I found to be a very odd ommission by the manufacturer

I saw other posts regarding the audio sync and live TV issues, but there does not seem to be a fix. I have seen other users say that the Optimum App on Apple TV devices is a better experience, however I'd like to find out if it specifically addresses the above issues pointed out, as I don't want to spend any unnecessary $ for additional devices.

I can't get the internet working when connecting either one of my DAC cables to the GW. It only works when I use my two transceivers and run a CAT6 cable from the GW to my SFP+ NIC in my router. I've tried either DAC Cable from my NIC to my switch and both work. Obviously I'd like to use both DAC cables as they run cooler than the transceivers.
