CPU % consumed for routing? Trying to decide if I need an L3 switch

Running small home network, probably 40-50 connections Max. Using a ucg-fiber, wondering if it is worth considering getting a USW Pro layer 3 switch, as i am unsure how much CPU percentage is used for the routing portion on the UCG-Fiber

Currently running a usw24 switch, which is obviously a layer two switch and does not have any routing capabilities. There's also no 2.5GB ethernet s on that switch, so the few 2.5GB endpoints that I have can't properly utilize those speeds.

I'm aware that the ucg fiber comes with 2.5GB ports, but the switch is incredibly limited, and from what I am told I am not supposed to use it as a core switch.

Wondering if I would actually benefit from getting an L3 switch for a home network. I do run a home lab with a server stack and quite a few services, but it's just used by me and my family

I'm not looking for much here... I have a few Rokus and Chromecast devices that are slightly older and only work on 2.4ghz... in total there are 11 in my environment, the most bandwidth heavy would be a 2k Camera and a 1080p camera feeding back to my UCG-Fiber...

No matter what I do, I cannot get more than 30mbps down / up on a dedicated IoT 2.4ghz network.

Has anyone found a fix for this?

Recently switched to Optimum Fiber. Happy as can be with the internet, very stable, very reliable, service has been fantastic.

The IPTV boxes on the other hand have been a bit of a nightmare.

- One of them suddenly stopped displaying a TV signal for about 30 minutes for no reason the other day. After an extended power cycle, it resolved itself, but it made no sense

- The boxes themselves are reponsive enough with the guide, however I routinely have issues with audio sync and delayed live TV (specifically for live sports)

- I have all my boxes wired with LAN plugs in order to improve reliability, but the boxes themselves only come with Fast Ethernet, and not Gigabit Ethernet ports, which I found to be a very odd ommission by the manufacturer

I saw other posts regarding the audio sync and live TV issues, but there does not seem to be a fix. I have seen other users say that the Optimum App on Apple TV devices is a better experience, however I'd like to find out if it specifically addresses the above issues pointed out, as I don't want to spend any unnecessary $ for additional devices.
