Does it pick up or improve significantly after the first couple hours? Does this game start slow?

About to hit the two hour mark, just reached Sacrament, and considering a refund. My honest opinion so far is it feels like a bad Dark Souls ripoff in ARPG form. The story is not compelling, the combat is okay but kinda clunky and simple. The Bloom part with the ghost path was kinda fun. Overall just not seeing any reason to continue unless folks are saying it just starts slow. I don't hate it but I'm not having fun.

How far along is the campaign/story?

I was going to buy the game during the current discount period anyway, but I didn't plan on actually playing it until 1.0 since afaik the story is a big focus of the game.

Now, because of a...certain other game in the genre's highly anticipated update being delayed for a month, I need something to play until then, and I thought NRFTW could maybe fill the gap.

How satisfying/unsatisfying/complete is the campaign/story right now? Does it rely on twists? I really enjoy good story playthroughs, so I don't really wanna deprive myself of the full fresh experience later if the current state is too rough/incomplete.

Is there a way to play the game right now without playing the campaign, just the grinding/endgame part of the game? Something like Adventure Mode back in Diablo 3?

I have a fear I'm playing this game wrong due to delusion

Am I being too attached to this weapon or is it viable to stick with it? I'm about 15 or so hours in and I'm level 24. Back at like level 10 or so I got a curved scimitar with frigid (I love the freezing effect). I've rolled 4 good skills I enjoy (health on kill and stamina/focus recovery). I've upgraded it so its at 97 power but its still an 8 level weapon. I haven't had problems damage wise, unless I don't realize how much more I could be doing.

20 hours played so far! What’s this game going for?

Genuine question! This year I’ve been adrift in the gaming world because since Elden Ring I’ve been on a journey with the Souls genre. I played all Froms games, many times, and others in the genre as well as games like Hollow Knight, and since finishing Silksong I realised I’ve sorta… done it. Like I can’t unlearn how these tougher games work and I no longer can get that inexperienced-advanced journey anymore.

So I’ve been trying to find games I like but are more casual, so I can use the skill I’ve gotten without needing to always look for new, harder, more complex.

my question is this: is NRFTW intended to be a Diablo-like? I really like the souls inspiration here, whereas Diablos gameplay felt too pointless to me. But I wonder if this game is one to be played through once, maybe grinded for a little bit, and then put to bed? I’m up for the ride but it’s not that perfect blend of quality souls/exploration gameplay with an intent to consistently add new things or switch up the formula.

Help explain in the weapon/armor enchant/infuse system to me?

I’ve been playing the game for about 15 hours with a friend. I’ve done a small bit of wiki searching but I still don’t get the itemization systems to get weapons and armors I want.

Can someone explain what my options are for getting “good” items? I don’t care about perfect items.

I get that I can add runes at the one vendor. I get that I can add gems to items with slots. But I dont get how to fine tune my blue, purple, and legendary items and their enchants. Neither vendor seems to do that.

So where do I do that?

Does Hope Shorn still deal innate Plague Damage?

I'm seeing the wiki stating it does innate plague damage, and that it's supposed to show the damage type beneath what it scales with. However even when I craft versions without Item Facets -it doesn't actually say if it does innate Plague damage?

Is there anywhere you can see the weapon damage types in-game? Or was the innate Plague damage patched out? Am I missing something?

Trying to understand attribute bonuses.

I understand that different weapons types (e.g. hammer versus a sword) have different base damage, and so (for a strength+faith user) level-for-level a weapon like the Climber's Pick hammer will always excel at damage compared to the Whetted Wedge straight sword.

What I didn't expect was for the attribute bonus (that is, the bonus damage for attributes required to use the weapon) on the Climber's pick hammer to be significantly higher than the attribute bonus for the Whetted Wedge straight sword. In fact, I expected them to be exactly the same, assuming the attribute requirement has been met.

However, this is the information I'm seeing in-game.

Climber's Pick (9):

Base: 52

Attribute Bonus: 85

Total: 137

Whetted Wedge (9):

Base: 36

Attribute Bonus: 59

Total: 102

How exactly is the attribute bonus calculated? My Strength and Wisdom are both 26, and if the attribute bonus is a percentage of the weapon's base damage per attribute point, then that means the Whetted Wedge not only has a lower base damage, but also uses a lower percentage of the weapon's base damage per attribute point (4.55%) than the Climber's Pick (5.1%). It's like a double handicap for using a straight-sword. Is that really true?

Can I reset bosses ?

Afternoon all.

Just wondering if there's a way to reset area bosses. I know they drop unique, just wondering how you farm them if the boss is dead etc.

Arena Mode for PvP and Bosses (Player Hub)

Since duels has been introduced, it would be cool to see a Arena Mode, where you could meet other players and challenge them.

Imagine a player hub server that you enter the same way as the crucible. You (and your friends) could meet other random players, watch matches and hang out. Not even sure you really need chat or anything as of now. Silent communication could be interesting when interacting with others.

You could play 1v1 or 2v2/3v3/4v4 against other players. Maybe also a mode where you fight enemies and bosses of bigger and bigger challenge. The player hub could be used for other social aspects of Wicked if/when they implement them down the line.

Would especially be cool if 1.0 is a long way still, so players had a bit more to do while we wait.

Does anyone know when Finley shows up?

Guys, I'm so confused, it says he shows up between 8PM - midnight, but whenever I check, he is not there. I tried Saturdays too. It feels really RNG.

Also, if I have multiple realms with multiple Finleys, do I have a better chance of getting him to appear? Will each Finley from each realm sell different items?

Please help.

New player, need help!

Hey guys, hope you're all doing well!

I got Nrftw a day ago, but I feel completely lost and overwhelmed.

Not by the mechanics, or by the systems, but by the world.

I don't know what to tackle first. I got to Sacrement and then I tried going to Nameless Pass but was level 3. I went back and did a couple of bounties, and I started the quest with Dekar(?), I wanted to follow it through but upon entering the sewers I saw that I was again underleveled. So now being level 8 I went back to the Nameless Pass, but due to there not being a traditional map I'm sort of stuck at the end of a path and have no idea what to do.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Terrible Performance ingame, need help

Hey,
new Cerim here.

I played for around 17 hours now.
The game expects me to head to meadows by now.
I beat each area boss but never set foot into meadows further than a few meters because of the terrible performance.

My PC Specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5750G
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
RAM: 64 GB
OS: Win 11

The game is installed on a SSD

My PC should be fully able to handle this game yet I cant get more than 35 FPS in most areas.

Meadows gets me to like 15 FPS which feels like Blighttown in Darksouls 1 for the PS3.

I dont plan on getting 200 FPS. Stable 60 would already be great without making the game look deep fried by turning the resolution down.

Its mostly light and weather effects in seems. Rain especially seems to mess up my PC.

Are there any outside tools or settings I could try?

The graphic settings basically are:
"Graphic On" and "Graphic off"

All i can change is just what kind of upscaler I want.

Bug?

I'm new to the game, I don't know if it's bugged. I completed the area (Dark Pass) and it didn't unlock the area (Unnamable Pass), but I completed the area (Low Meadows), but the bear boss doesn't appear. Did I do something wrong?

This game captures d2 Vibes better than diablo

First time in sacrament. The helm, armor, wands, weapons, wind ambience, and whole vibe hits that same sweet spot as the first time I played D2 in high school. Spooky, chill.

It's more impressive to me since they're using also using satured colours, high contrast, a very animated art style, and still hit that same feeling. Wish Blizzard took notes. :)

How good is this 2H Sword? Just got the game today.

The enchantments seem like they synergize with one another, but most of the time before I'm able to inflict Infection Status, the enemy's already dead before I gain Tainted, and then I just drain hp for nothing. It's also a really slow weapon to use comfortably.

Happy 2 year anniversary to Wicked!

From the devs:

Wicked fans,

It's been TWO YEARS since No Rest for the Wicked entered Early Access. Since then, this game has grown and evolved in ways we could only pull off because of you.

1.7 million copies sold, and counting. You’ve supported us, challenged us, and pushed us to do better. That’s exactly how we like it.

We’re hard at work toward 1.0. And console players, we haven’t forgotten you.

No big speeches today. Just this: we’re building something special here, and we’re not slowing down.

Two years of celebrating you in all the Wicked ways! Thank you for being part of it.

Moon Studios ❤️
