How do you guys counter Tokugawa Yoshinobu's grab attack? I think Swallow's Wing (Water) is super convenient!

As you know, the weak point during Tokugawa Yoshinobu's grab attack is inside the mouth of the fish (Shachihoko, right?) he's riding. You can stop it by shooting it with a bow or rifle, but I feel like Swallow's Wing (Water) is much easier to use because of its wide hitbox. I was so hyped when I discovered this! I'm sharing it just in case there's anyone who didn't know! (Sorry if this is already common knowledge lol)

However, I still don't know how to stop it using weapons other than the Sword. Does anyone have any specific counters they use with other weapons?

Also, as a bonus clip: when he transitions to the Dark Realm, he floats up and normal melee attacks won't reach him, so I usually just toss a Mega Horoku-dama at him. Does anyone have any other good attacks or items to use during this opening?

Link to full fight (44:39~)

(I'm dropping the link to my full fight against him here. My channel isn't monetized, so there are no annoying ads, but the video is a bit long. Feel free to watch it if you're interested or taking a break. I'd love to hear your advice or feedback!)

I am officially the worst Nioh 3 player!

Before we start, I know i am not great at this game. I played half of 2 and was starting to get the swing of it but moved on when POE 2 came out.

I decided to give 3 a chance. Oh lord did I struggle. But, I kept at it. Now that I am well into act 3, I felt like I am finally getting the hang of the game.

But... I was messing around Last night and found the game statistics. Sheesh! 1,279 deaths. Yep. i am embarrassed. In a game most people have finished in 60 or so hours I am at 120. I admit, I have done all the side content and demons to this point, but dang. I am averaging 10 deaths an hour.

It was just sad to see how poorly I had played, even though I feel like now I have a better handle on it. Let me offer my admiration to those of you out there that excel at this game.

I will finish the game. What I lack in skill, I make up for in being bulkhead.

Thanks for allowing me to commiserate.

Console nioh 3 vs nioh 2 view distance and feel

Having finished Nioh 3 NG+ I went back to Nioh 2, I was playing depths 20-30 so very deep.

And on ps5 the character on Nioh 2 was in my face it was not easy to see combat.

In Nioh 3 you have camera distance choice of 1-10, I play 5, character a bit smaller but easy to see all enemies around you

In Nioh 2 there is no Camera distance option on Ps5 I can find, I looked for it in every menu and nothing, I am stuck with mega zoomed in where it hurts my head.

Am I missing something ?

Dung Eater story morale

The longer you stay in shit, the more you’ll like it.

In the end, shit won’t even matter.

This can be taken literally, metaphorically, figuratively

elemental weapons and statuses

Can naturally elementally imbued weapons inflict enemies with the accompanying status?

Or do you need magic/ninjutsu to do that?

Highest level gear

I'm finishing up WOTW and have level 30 divinity gear. I've noticed there is no difference between ethereal gear at the same level as well. How high does gear go and does ethereal ever out perform divine?

Which clan to choose if you are using a Ninja Tonfa build?

So I've joined the Kakizaki clan for now, due to the Ki DPS damage.

For the 2nd, I can't decide between Toyotomi or Uesugi. Both sound amazing but wanted thoughts from the community of which is the better of the two?

Need help with understanding NG+

I started NG+ in Shogun difficulty and I started where I had to, the very beginning in Edo. I finished that and when I opened the map i noticed that there were random shrines already usable for fast travel in some other maps. I asked myself. Where the hell do I go? I thought NG+ was going to progress like NG, only more difficult.

Is there a right or wrong way to complete NG+?

Yuki Onna made it clear that I dont understand how this game works

i thought I did? but my issue with the combat and some elite enemies is that I have a hard time understanding is attack windows. when I think theres an attack window, I go to attack, but usually I get interrupted like, immediately, and I get hit or I have to block, resulting in my ki getting depleted. theres no room to breathe since the second you think theres an attack window they immediately start attacking again. how do I get past this? she doesnt stun for shit. I block her 3 ice thingies which gets rid of around half my ki? but I use a sword so every time I get close to attack she immediately tries to attack again and I have to back away and heal bc my sword is shorter range than her weapon. its a pain in the ass!! I dont know what to do...

Just finished NG of Nioh 3. Any advice on what to focus and build?

Hi all,

Just finished NG and now will start NG but feeling a bit lost. Any advice or tip on what to do?

Not sure If I should go around and do some crucibles/bases or better just do some battle scrolls or crucibles?

My plan is to focus on creating my build(s) I'll have one focused on luck which I'm aiming to use the graze of ebisu + other stuff that might grant some extra luck but for the actual build I don't really know what to do.

I kinda rely on ninjutsu (was a tonfa + feather user in Nioh 2, using a flying kato + Marici or Omoikane) so my plan is to stick to ninjutsu and applying confusion. For ninja what I'm looking at is:

-Master of illusion

-Iga ninja set

- Sinister tyrant (for status effect acumulation)

pairing it maybe with 3 pc inari for the effect duration or maybe daikokuten for the defense.

Weapons of preference: Tonfa's + Sword/dual swords (but open to consider others)

On samurai o not really know what I want to do, looking for something on the line of increaseing the martial arts or reduce damage while attacking + amrita absortion

Weapon of preference: Sword + Switchglave (but open to consider others)

Any advice/tips ??

Nioh 3 – Best weapon for parrying?

Hey guys,

I played quite a bit of Nioh 2 and really enjoyed it overall – especially in co-op. The only things that kinda annoyed me were the insane loot spam and some recycled levels, but playing with a friend made it totally worth it.

From what I understand, Nioh 3 seems to lean more into parrying now? As a huge Sekiro fan, that honestly sounds awesome to me.

So I was wondering: what weapon would you recommend if I want to focus on parrying? Do different weapons even make a big difference here, or is it more of a general mechanic?

Right now I’m most interested in dual swords – would those be a good fit for a parry-focused playstyle?

Also, quick side question:
I’m planning to play co-op again with a friend tomorrow (we’re basically doing a small “PlayStation LAN party” 😄). How does co-op work in Nioh 3? Can you jump in together pretty quickly, or do you first have to go through a bunch of solo/tutorial missions?

Thanks in advance!

Combining weapons in Nioh 3

Just want to confirm - is all aspects of "combining" (sacrificing) weapons, armors, and souls to buff another one removed in Nioh 3?

For example the whole thing in Nioh 2 of hording gloves with Attack+ to combine them onto your other armor pieces, it seems like in 3 you only break down for various types of currency and spend that currency.

Just want to make sure I'm not missing something, and that it is now "what you can roll" (or reforge) and that's it.

Should i buy 3?

So firstly, i’m a HUGE fan of Nioh 1. I played all the game and dlc and really lived the story and maps, in the first nioh game the gritty and dark feeling of the game was pretty unique to me and i loved the characters and the villain.

Nioh 2, at first i really like the map design and the new weapons, but i didn’t like turning into a yokai and it felt pretty overpowered. I maybe played 35/40 hours but at some point i got kinda lost in a map and felt irritated with some hit kill enemies, i also liked creating my own character but at the same time the game history felt pretty weak and boring. At the time my life wasn’t in a good moment so i stopped the game and never felt the urge to return.

Nioh 3 hyped me a lot, but i still don’t have the same feeling i had playing 1 by watching gameplay, the price is also very expensive. So i’m very interesting in buying it but at the same time i don’t know if i’m going to like it because of 2.

So what should i consider? What would people here recommend me?

Help.
