Phoebe Gates says no Gates ties in Phia, yet the entire TikTok strategy is basically “Bill Gates’ daughter” bait

Phoebe Gates keeps insisting she wants her app Phia to stand on its own, completely separate from her last name and privilege. Cute in theory. In practice, not so much.

The marketing is basically a copy and paste operation across TikTok. A wave of micro influencers all posting videos where they do not even speak, just on-screen text with identical captions like “Kris Jenner just backed this app” and “Hailey Bieber knew exactly what she was doing.” It is all clearly being handed to them, because everyone is using the exact same wording. Scroll for 30 seconds and it becomes painfully obvious this is not organic hype, it is coordinated down to the captions and fully dictated by Phia.

And then there’s the pièce de résistance: influencers being spoon-fed captions that explicitly name-drop Bill Gates. We’re talking “Why is no one talking about Bill Gates’ daughter’s app?” and “So who was going to tell me Bill Gates’ daughter made the most genius app EVER.”

So let’s get this straight. Phoebe is supposedly trying to distance Phia from the Gates name while simultaneously directing influencers to use Bill Gates as clickbait. You could not write a clearer contradiction if you tried.

You cannot have it both ways. Either the app succeeds on its own merit, or it leans on billionaire name recognition for engagement. Pretending it is the former while clearly doing the latter just makes the whole thing look even more manufactured.
