Praying for the recovery of umpire Takuto Kawakami, who was struck in the head by a bat and remains unconscious, the NPB umpiring crew wore his sleeve number, “29,” to show their support. In addition, 30 umpires from the Taiwanese league put “29” on their helmets to send encouragement to Kawakami.

[TRADE] Hawks acquire BayStars starting catcher Yudai Yamamoto for Shuto Ogata and Tomoya Inoue

https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/8236901c82a475d66126f009c7426e2efb4a024f

Yamamoto, DeNA’s primary catcher, had started 24 games this season and has been a key piece of the BayStars since becoming a regular in 2021. He appeared in 108 games in 2024 and 104 games in 2025, making this a very unexpected move midseason.

Ogata is a hard-throwing reliever who can hit 159 km/h. He has a 3.00 ERA in 10 appearances this season.

Inoue, a former 1st-round pick from the 2020 draft, was once considered a future slugger for the Hawks but has struggled to break through at the NPB level. He’s batting .250 with 2 HR in the farm league this year.

This is only the second in-season NPB trade of 2026.

Free multilingual NPB stats site: BaseballData.jp

Hi everyone! I built BaseballData.jp, a free multilingual site for Japanese professional baseball, NPB, data.

It includes game results, player and team stats, situational stats, pitch-type data, and original metrics.

It’s available in English and several other languages. I’d love feedback from NPB and international baseball fans!

hi. i have been meaning to watch a game for years and now I am in Osaka but seems all the month dates are sold out (according to the e+ site). is there any other way to get the tickets? i read someone said to just walk up and try my luck if it’s only one person… or get an Orix ticket. any recommendations?
