N400 + I751 experience

Field office is St. Louis , MO.
Interview was scheduled initially in April and I couldn’t go due to other personal commitments. Contacted USCIS to rescheduled.
They rescheduled me on May 4th.
My wife and I both arrived 30 min before. Basic security check and then proceed to the interview floor. Dropped my appointment letter and was waiting to call my name. After couple of minutes agent called my name. My wife and I proceeded towards the door and he asked my wife to wait outside. Once inside the room basic introduction and agent explained everything about interview format. Only asked me to show passport, green card and driving license. Didn’t ask for any other document.

I751 basic questions.
Full name, ssn#, dob, wife’s dob, marriage location, how long we been married, previous addresses very basic questions.
Then he said proceeding to n400.

Civics portion
I don’t remember all 12 questions but some of them were like what is US capital? President belong to which branch?
Civil rights moment ?
Who does senator represent ?
(Used Citizenry app . Got lifetime $20 subscription and did unlimited mock interviews only whole week before interview)
Questions stopped after I got 12 straight correct answers and he said I passed civics portion.

Displayed a sentence and asked me to read it loud.

Then asked me to write a sentence something like “you has a citizen can vote for presidential and congress elections.”

Then he said I passed both my reading and writing portion.
Some “no” questions from N400 application.

Then he explained next steps and what documents to bring to oath ceremony.

Asked me to carry approved i751 all times till I get my passport.

Note: We have been married for 5 years and I submitted extensive documentation like joint mortgage statements, insurance ,bank accounts, daughters birth certificate, marriage certificate, vacation airlines tickets, joint checking accounts, 401k beneficiary information etc.,.

Never hired attorney. No criminal background.

Thank you everyone in the group for your responses in previous threads. Good luck to everyone who are in the process to getting their US citizenship.

"We have taken an action on your case"

Hi folks, I got a random email that says "We have taken an action on your case" after 7 months of application date. Last actual action on the case was Biometrics Reuse notice that was about 6 months ago. But when I login nothing seems changed and status is the same "USCIS is still working on your case". What could this mean?

Banned country n400 complete successfully 🙏

My husband had his oath ceremony cancelled back on December 2025 we are from one of the countries on the travel ban list . April 13th 2026 he was scheduled for the oath ceremony . that
took place on may 6 2026 . He finally has his citizenship all the glory be to God . This platform helped us a lot during the time of stress and uncertainty.
So hopefully this can give someone hope and peace of mind. Hang in there it will all be alright.

“Discretionary update” on my case! What does this mean?

Hello everyone,
I have pending N400 case and recently I have received an email from USCIS saying “action has been taken on my case” (but no update on myUSCIS account).
When I contacted Emma today, Emma agent said :

“it was a discretionary update to advise that your case is still under review “
And end the chat.
What does this mean?

Background:
6 years on GC. Filed last September, biometric reused, and waiting for the interview date.
TIA

N-400/I-751 timeline

Just wanted to share for anyone that’s waiting on their convo interview in NJ. Our FO is cranbury and I applied for my N-400 in March 2026 pending an I-751 from December 2024… had to redo my biometrics in April and just got a date for an interview June 11th… I’ve spoken to some people waiting and wanted to give a little hope at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully things start moving fast for everyone that’s also been waiting, we are certainly ready to complete this era of our lives and feel safer in this environment.

N-400 & I-751 San Fernando Valley FO, Someone in the same office or with a similar case

I currently have a removal of conditions case open since January 2025, in which biometrics had also been reused in January 2025, and it showed that it was being actively reviewed. On January 27, 2026, I submitted my N-400 online, it appeared as already accepted, but I never received a receipt until April 15, when the receipt was generated, and then on the 18th, the biometrics appointment was generated. I was surprised that biometrics were also requested for the previous process in which they had already been reused — meaning that appointment was for my biometrics for both the N-400 & I-751. This was on May 6th and lasted approximately 10 to 20 minutes. Afterward, the profile for both cases updated to actively reviewed as of May 6th. I don’t know if this will be a good sign, or if it’s just normal for these updates to happen.
I also want to ask if anyone has been at this same field office and what their timeline has been?

I751 & N400 Combo Interview SACRAMENTO FO

Hi guys I just wanted to give an update on how my combo interview went this morning in Sacramento FO.
Applied for I-751 2023, and N400 Oct 2024 under 3year married to USC spouse.

Got to Sac at 6:15 for my 7;30 AM interview, found parking and walked to get in line at 6;40am. We were #2 in line.
They opened the doors about 15 mins before 7:30, Cleared through security, and went up to floor 2. Checked into my interview with my spouse, and then got sent to the waiting area at 7:25am. By this time many more people were walking in, some families with kiddos. Got called back by my agent within 20 mins of waiting, so past my appointment time.
My agent was very nice and lovely, which instantly made me feel a little less nervous about the whole interview. She was the youngest agent I’ve encountered throughout my journey, which was refreshing.

I-751:
She started with the I-751 interview, which I was brought many documents and evidence including our son’s birth certificate. She said that because we have a 15 month old son together, she didn’t really need to ask us about our relationship-which was nice but we had also prepped a lot to answer any questions lol! She did just ask my spouse about his job but that’s all. She reviewed my application and asked a few questions about the documents I provided including travel dates. She updated one travel date that I forgot to include in my initial N-400 application. She asked if I had any other supporting evidence and I handed her over my folders of documents (I did upload most of them to my USCIS account last night to make it easier for the agent).

N400:
We moved on to my N400, she told my spouse that he could stay in the room just had to be silent and couldn’t help at all during the tests- he agreed.
We did the civics test first, she asked 6/6 questions and said I passed (will include the questions at the end). We then did the reading and writing, she said I passed and congratulated me about passing the tests. We then reviewed all my information again from my application like address, names used, and added my son to the application. We confirmed everything and said we were all finished with both interviews. She handed me the paper stating a decisions cannot be made yet, but that I passed the tests, until a few more checks go through (I assume it’s the new fingerprints that need to be ran from the “new” law that passed a few weeks ago). She escorted us out and thanked us. Overall a very smooth process thanks to the agent, I was extremely extremely anxious for no reason.

Civics Q’s:
-where is the Statue of Liberty?
-why is there 50 stars on the flag?
-name one way the US was involved in 1800’s?
-what happened at the constitution convention?
**cant remember the others!

A little timeline on my case:
-DACA recipient for many years.
-together with USC spouse for 11 years, married for 6, 1 child together.
-applied for GC 2020, applied for ROC 2023, applied for N400 2024, reached out to House Rep Feb 2026, got interview notice 2 months later in late April 2026, interview early May 2026.

Now I wait for my oath ceremony!!

Best of luck to everyone in this sub, peace be with us all.

N-400 timeline in San Jose (Bay Area) N400

I applied in mid October 2025 and already had a permanent green card. Biometrics were re-used. Going by the official timeline (currently 7.5 months) I should be all set by end of May. But I didn't get invited to my interview yet. Looking at this subreddit, it seems like several people got their interviews around December 2025 cancelled and rescheduled for August/September 2026. Given that I was wondering whether I should expect an even later date?

We're looking to spend ~3 months of this summer in Europe and I'm now wondering whether I should rather go early (so that I'll hopefully be back by the time I get the interview if it will likely drag out to September+) or rather go late (if I can expect the interview to occur within the official timeline (e.g. by around end of month)). As we have a little toddler I'd really like to avoid having to fly back and forth in the middle of the trip just to attend the interview or having to cut the trip short.

Would appreciate any thoughts and recent experiences. Thank you!

My husband submitted his i751 in 2024 and his N400 in June 2025. His case processing center is in Orlando with about 80% of cases processed within 8 months for the N400. We submitted an inquiry since his timeline goes past this date on 04/30. On 05/02, there was an update to his portal that as of that date, his case is still being processed and no additional information needed at this time. Has this happened to others? If so, about how long after did you get an update on your case?

Hey I have a few questions and would appreciate all types of comments from everyone who sees this;

Has anyone from Iran been able to get naturalized recently? If yes, time line please? (Based in LA if possible)
This one is for myself

Has anyone from Iran been able to get their I 130 (consular processing) approved recently (waived based on being the minority or any other way of waiver maybe?)
This one for my wife

And lastly has any GC holder from the 19countries been outside of USA for more than 2 months, been back and is able to share their experience when re entering the states?
And this for me being able to possibly go somewhere out of states to spend some hopefully extended time with her (~5 months or so)

Any insight would be much appreciated.

I have applied to N400 online in 10/24/2025 with a pending I751 from November 2024 under 3 year marriage rule (minus 90 days). After acceptance notice, I received biometrics reuse notice a day after but nothing since then. I know it got slower since 2H of 2025, but this is scary because it may go up to 12 months of waiting some people say. My case is straightforward, all the docs are on file and even have tax returns, bills, insurance, child’s birth certificate etc.
Los Angeles filers come together and share your timeline to give an overview for everyone.

My N400 interview was completed on November 19th 2025 and the oath ceremony was scheduled on 19th March 2026. They cancelled my oath ceremony on 18 th March . The status said oath ceremony cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. After that they placed me in line for oath ceremony.

Recently I moved to different City so it looks like the jurisdiction changed and now the status shows my oath ceremony cancelled. 2 week ago it changed to " we placed you in line for oath" last week it changed to the case is being processed.

Don't know WTF is going on

I am married to us citizen and filed under 3 year rule

I have submitted my N-400 application on March 25-26 and completed biometrics on March 28. Checking my API reveals that my case is currently being processed at the NYC field office. Does this signify that my application has been transferred from NBC to NYC post-background check completion and is awaiting scheduling for an interview?

I would like to know if i can apply for my citizenship under the 3 years rules with all the ban right now im kind of confused. I was born in senegal (partial ban ) and im citizen of a non ban country but I believe is on the list of 75 countries. Im still married everything fine with my wife we got children we got bunch of proof, i have had some speeding tickets which were reduce to non-violation back in 2023-2024 they all got paid our taxes are updated. I got my green card through marriage but I had an asylum case back in 2016 never got interviewed on that and got withdrawn when I got approved for my GC and we had an interviewed on our mariage based GC which was smooth. Travel in and out of the US and came back no problem last trip was 3 weeks ago we went to Canada.

Am I good to apply?

Are they going to give me a decision or put my case on hold ?

Field office going to be ALBANY NY

THANK YOU FOR YALL HELP!!!

N-400 case changed to still being processed after 1 year of becoming a citizen- anyone else experiencing this

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their N-400 case.

I became a U.S. citizen last year and my naturalization case was officially closed after the oath ceremony. Everything has been normal since then.

Today, out of nowhere, I received a USCIS notification saying my N-400 case is “still being processed” However, when I log into my account, the case still shows as closed and there are no new documents or notices uploaded.

Has anyone else received a random status update like this months or even a year after becoming a citizen? Was it just a USCIS system glitch or did anything happen afterward?
