Hi, i’m not really sure how to write this but i’m just gonna try to explain everything

i’m 20 and i’ve been homeless since july 2025. i left my parents because of abuse that’s been going on since i was a kid (cps was involved when i was really young). last year i just hit a breaking point and left in the middle of the night

since then i’ve been trying to figure things out however i can. i couch hopped for a while, went to grand rapids and stayed at a shelter, then moved in with a business owner who offered me a job and a place to stay. that didn’t work out at all, i was working as an assistant manager but getting underpaid and treated pretty badly so i left

after that i stayed with someone i met online who said he could help. i was there for like 4 months. during that time he kept saying he couldn’t afford heat, groceries, or even rent, so i got a job, got on snap, and was giving most of what i had to help

later on i found out he was spending money on things like concerts and mtg tournaments out of state, so the situation wasn’t what i thought it was and i left

i got another job and went back to a shelter i had stayed at before but it got really unsafe, there were fights, police showing up, people making threats, so i didn’t feel like i could stay there

i stayed with my boyfriend for a little bit but i can’t stay there long because of housing rules where he lives

before going back to my parents, i even tried signing up for the military because i just wanted a stable way out, but i was turned down because i’m about 40 lbs over the requirement

i ended up going back to my parents because i had no other option but it got worse. i have recordings of it and my boyfriend has seen how they treat me

the most recent time i left was because i went on a weekend trip with my boyfriend. we got into an accident and couldn’t afford the gas to get back the day i was supposed to

when i told my parents what happened, they called me and said i’m not allowed to come back at all and that they’ll call the police if i show up

all my documents are still there and they basically told me to figure it out

right now i’m staying in my boyfriend’s car/room but i can’t stay here much longer

i’ve been calling 211 every day and reaching out to shelters all over michigan and pretty much everything is full or closed. i’ve also tried places like salvation army and similar programs and keep running into the same issue

i’ve also tried calling food pantries and donation centers, but a lot of them told me they can’t help because i’m not a resident of the county i’m currently in

i’m also applying to jobs and calling staffing agencies trying to get something asap. i had a job before but lost it when everything happened recently

some of the staffing agencies i’ve contacted:
- workbox staffing – called, left voicemail
- express employment – did an interview, was told to call back once i’m in a shelter
- infinity staffing – called, left voicemail
- forge industrial staffing – filled out application, completed safety training + quiz, waiting on a call back

i also have my permit and i’m trying to get my license but i don’t have a car so i don’t really know how to finish that right now

i do have snap and medicaid but i still struggle with food sometimes and have been doing whatever i can to get by

i have an interview tomorrow (tuesday) with a shelter in muskegon

i’m gonna list some of the places i’ve already called just so people know i’m actually trying

- haven of rest – full (night shelter only)
- inasmuch – full
- the haven – night shelter only
- ywca – full, no waitlist
- cora lamping – full
- safe center – full
- silvia’s place – did intake, full
- resilience / hillman / siren – closed or full
- city rescue mission – couldn’t help
- mel trotter – couldn’t help
- every woman’s place – full
- rave – waitlist maybe end of may
- blue water safe horizons – full
- underground railroad – full
- gateway mission women & children – full

(and a lot more… most either didn’t answer, had disconnected numbers, or told me the same thing)

at this point i just feel stuck. i’m trying every day but nothing is opening up

if anyone knows of anything i might’ve missed, shelters, programs, jobs, anything at all i’d really appreciate it

also if anyone knows how i could get my documents back from my parents safely that would help a lot too

thank you for reading

Is it hard to meet people/make friends (35f professional)?

Hi! Planning to move back to the west side of the state but have never lived in Muskegon. I like hiking, pickleball, walking my dogs, and crafting.

For any professionals my age(ish), how has meeting people/making friends been for you? Any better/worse than other places you’ve lived?

Is it possible my girlfriend is having an affair at work?

My girlfriend, works in an upper-level position at Howmet in Muskegon. Something weird came up recently between us, and I had an intrusive thought that she could be cheating on me. It definitely isn’t happening outside of work. I looked at Howmet on Google maps and realized how easy it would be for her to have an affair with one of her coworkers. She’s able to leave for lunch breaks and through out the day and there’s parks and trees everywhere. I checked her timeline and sometimes it shows her being near a park on her lunch break. She says she never goes to the parks on her break though. She usually goes out with coworkers for lunch. Are Google Maps just really inaccurate? Does car s3x actually happen frequently at Howmet? Has anyone heard of that happening there? Edit: I don’t actually think she’s cheating on me. It’s more of a passing thought. Like a what-if?. I’m not tracking her. I just looked at her google maps timeline. She doesn’t care if I look at her phone. But sometimes the data will either be blocked out for hours after it showed her leaving, or it’ll pin her being in random parks on her lunch break - but doesn’t mention it to me- and sometimes her timeline for the whole day is wiped.

I just recently looked at it cuz something made me SUS at home. I mean the location is probably fuzzy around there, right? But sometimes it’ll say she left work early and was driving for four hours straight and then comes home late.

Edit: the main suspicion was from google maps inaccuracies, but I suppose I shouldn’t rely on reliable google maps location data.

Hello neighbors. I am a local auto shop owner and 20-year technician that has been working on a side project for a few years now. Vehicles can get a check engine light for 1,000s of reasons, an engine can run bad without those lights, and have codes that don't tell the technician much more than the engine is running bad—like a P0300 Random Cylinder Misfire.

This is when live sensor data interpretation comes into play. Now there are cheap OBD2 dongles ($15) you can get on Amazon and paired with your phone and the right apps, you can read and clear codes, but more importantly you can see and record various live data points cheaper than a quality pair of fuzzy dice.

The Problem: Most people aren't sure what these live data points should be at a given operating condition (warm vs cold idle, cruise, etc.), therefore this powerful feature is deemed useless without many years experience learning that language.

The Solution: The tool I built is simple: overlay a known-good vehicle similar to the one you are looking at to avoid the "parts cannon," trial and error, and any rabbit holes that a gut feeling or data misinterpretation might take you down. It basically gives you an initial diagnostic direction before you start ordering parts.

Note: This is specifically for engine performance and drivability—it won’t help you with a squeaky belt, a bad tie rod, or a window that won't roll down. It’s all about what's happening inside the engine.

I’m looking for about a dozen folks in the Muskegon area to help me stress-test the logic on real-world cars. If you already have a dongle (or want to get one so you can stop relying on parts store advice), I’d love the help building this "data map" for our area. Even if your car is running perfectly right now, that is actually the best time to take a log—it gives us a baseline of what "healthy" looks like for your specific vehicle.

In exchange for your logs and feedback, I’m giving away free lifetime access to the web platform.

Android users can use my capture app, and iPhone users can send me logs from apps like BlueDriver or OBDFusion. I’m keeping my shop name private so I can stay focused on the work in the bays today, but if you are in the Muskegon area and want to help me finish this and stop the guess-and-check game, shoot me a DM.

Holy cow (pun intended), just ate there for the first time. Wife and I both ordered the gnarly burger and fries. It was exceptional. So darn good, and reasonably priced. Great service too. I love me a Station Burger, and it is what I judge others by. The gnarly burger is two thin smash burgers stacked on a toasted bun with bacon, fresh pickles, cheese, and sauce, and great flavor. I honestly would put it up there as a tie. Different burgers -- the Station is thicker and juicier single patty with more peppery flavor, but the gnarly burger is no slouch. If you like to eat, it is definitely worth the drive.

Wedding Reception

Hi everyone!

I am trying to plan a wedding reception for later this year and I would love some recommendations of places to look into.

This reception would be for approximately 115 guests, we would like to have food, alcohol, dance floor, and music.

We are not super sure how much something like this usually costs so, any recommendations or advice are welcome.

TYIA!

Hello everyone. Recently, as an experiment, I wrote a short book about cognitive biases, explained through paradoxes, effects, and different theories. To promote it, I decided to simply give copies away by leaving them in random small public book boxes.

If you know locations of similar boxes, please share the coordinates. Also, if you live near Whitehall, I’ve left a copy there (photos attached).

The book is called The Unobjective Objective. By the way, it’s available on Amazon. I’d be glad if you enjoy it - maybe it’ll inspire me to keep writing🙂

Thanks in advance

Local HVAC

In search of a local HVAC company that offers annual maintenance contracts. We previously lived on the East coast where we used a great company that we trusted.

Typical contract would include: a couple of preventive tune-up visits per year (one for heating, one for cooling), inspection of all the equipment, filter checks, refrigerant level check, etc. We also have a full-house humidifier so preventive maintenance (changing filter pad, etc) on that at the same time.

We aren't familiar with HVAC companies in Muskegon so I'm hoping to get some recommendations from folks who have this type of contract and are happy with the service they receive.

okay, so in cause you were wondering what was brought to the Florida judge from the Receiver from AP, its all in there in MiEnviro.

You will for sure want to read
2026.04.13 - Receiver's Motion to Suspend Bankruptcy [18].pdf
2026.04.13 - Receiver's Exhibit A to Motion [18.1].pdf

I will warn you its a LOT. I read it all a few days ago.

Something that I found really interesting is that the 6th floor tenants filed complaints against AP because the floor plans changes after they signed their contracts. They actually filed like 12 complaints. Also Ibex, Ryan's wifes company wasn't paying their rent to AP for the whole time they were in the building.

I will tell you, this is all PUBLIC INFORMATION. literally anyone can read this and find it online.

Seaway Drive's stop lights are timed. If you just relax and go roughly the speed limit, you'll hit a bunch of green lights. That will be much more enjoyable than weaving in and out of traffic while speeding, just to hit every red light along the way.
