I did the mouse game 🐭🪤 (annoying completion story/warning)

Cool game, enjoyed it. But achievement wise, it can be very painful. I thought i could get all collectibles without a guide, costing me multiple playthroughs. 🤣There's no new game+ or mission select at all; you are SOL if you can't get what you need at the end. You'll have to restart from scratch and collect it all again. 🤯 i thought i was losing my mind by the end of it! Achievements were also BUGGED at launch, requiring more playthroughs either way. (fixed now)

There's so much you can easily miss; baseball cards and comics are well hidden. If you walk into an area, a door will likely lock behind you, so you are cooked if you ran past a collectible you needed. The only shot is to hope you have an autosave if that happens. You CAN buy some missed items from the shop, but there is still not much room for error. GL if you are doing this blind without a guide!

TLDR: USE a guide for the game, even if you don't like to. Don't make the same mistake as me. Wont even be close to 64 hours if you use powerpyx or something 👍

How big is the difficulty ramp up?

I tried out the hardest difficulty and the first level was a little spicy for me with just the mouser, but now i’ve just finished the sewers on normal difficulty and its seeming very very easy to me. Is normal going to get harder as time goes on or should i tough it out on the hardest setting as the new guns and upgrades will level the playing field?

Also curious how far in is the sewers?

Should I get it on my Switch 2, PS5 or PC?

Idk which system to get this game on, on one hand I would like more games for my switch 2 as well as be able to play it on the go but I heard it has some performance issues so I don’t know if that’s the right choice. I have a steam deck as well so if I get it on my pc I can play it on there as well.

Anyone else eating alot more cheese IRL nowadays?

I dont know what it is, maybe it was all the puns but I just seem to be grabbing full on cheddar bricks from the grocery store during every trip recently.... i used to just slice it up and add to sandwiches but honestly, just breaking off part of the brick and eating it raw while playing or watching tv is more common. Just a coincidence? My wife is feta up with this behavior smh

What is the deal with Mike Maple???

You meet him in one of the early levels in a bathroom. He's like a janitor type guy and says something about not having time to talk and he hears some baddies coming. Jack kind of glosses over him as if it's nothing out the ordinary.

However he later reappears I believe the first time you go to Jack's office and are returning to your car, seen under the intersection. After a few seconds he disappears like a magician into smoke. As of now there is one post on this sub about it with about 3 comments, and this is the only instance of discussing his reappearance I've seen on reddit AND ON THE ENTIRE INTERNET.

However he appears again in one of the road houses behind damage/hole in the wall, and he's completely stationary. I just encountered him for a split second in a locked room in the Nuthouse level and he again disappeared. I've seen him other times too. He's like the guy who randomly appears in the Half Life games where it's really easy to miss.

Anyone else seen him? Is there any discussion about this?

EDIT: For anyone unaware, Jack's first meeting with Mike Maple is at 18:40 in this random youtubers walkthrough video. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edeuEuiCvN8

Mouse characters in color part 1

The reason why Jack pepper wears green instead of red now is because mickey wore Green in his first color appearance so it's a reference to that. Also the enemies wearing red is intended to be a jab at Mickey.

Just started getting into this game, I love all of the references

I like how they're not restricted to any one genre, I just got caught off guard by the San Andreas one, "Lesson learned..... don't follow the damn train!"

My Biggest issue with this game is..

Ive been enjoying this game so much but its just one thing that i cant get over… how in 2026 there is no auto reload or even an option for auto reload. Guns should trigger the reload animation as soon as you empty the load. Nothing worse than trying to shoot an enemy and THEN the reload animation happens while they are already in your face atp.

Mouse PI for hire review

I just finished the story of this game and I'll start off by saying I LOVED it and so far I have it as my number 1 contender for indie game of the year.

The review:

As for the game itself it was a really fun time and I was never bored while playing it, the rubber hose animated characters meshed surprisingly well in a 3D environment, the story was really fun to playthrough and the characters were all really charming as well. It deadass felt like they ripped these characters straight from the og black and white cartoons back in the day which i grew up watching thanks to some old discs and tapes my aunt had. Also the cheese puns didn't get old surprisingly enough, there were a lot but not too much to the point where it felt overused.

Top 3 characters (in no particular order)

-Jack

-Tammy

-John

What I would change/add:

Honestly the only I would add is some sort of chapter/mission select after you finish the game's story since there's A LOT of missable collectibles along the way. I did manage to collect all the comics, newspapers and cards since I followed a guide however I somehow managed to miss key clues for the blue Betty and missing magician cases at some point meaning I missed my chance at the platinum and I can't find any guides anywhere that tell you where all the key clues are so I hope someone makes one at some point. Plus I also didn't get enough money to do 30 baseball card matches, even though I triple checked every room and enemy corpse to collect all the money I could it felt like it's impossible to get every achievement in one playthrough because of it (or maybe it is and I'm just bad at collecting money).

Overall I give this game bare minimum an 8/10, at most a 9/10 if they do add a mission select or ng+ in the future. 100% recommend everyone at least try it once.

Shop after finishing the game?

Can you access the shop after you have finished the game? When i press continue at the main title screen it bring me back to rescue John and then the titles roll....

Any help greatly appreciated!

Finishers would make the combat even better imo

Really loving the game so far overall, BUT I think the addition of one more mechanic within the combat would be the cherry on top of it all.

Similar to the modern DOOM entries, imagine a system where after damaging enemies to a certain threshold, they enter a stunned state with the whole cartoon stars or flying bird circling around their head gag to signal to the player it’s ready.

Then once you get within range, you can activate a randomized finisher that takes full advantage of the rubber hose/cartoon physics. That could mean a finisher of Jack pulling out a literal hand-gun (like the power-up) that blows off the enemies head at point blank, or Pepper whipping out a bat and smashing them on the head leaving that signature cartoon bump and after which they collapse.

The more creativity the better honestly, but I think it would give combat more diversity and make it feel even more engaging while not entirely changing how it plays—because it’s already good as is. What do yall think?
