Wasn't planning on winning this on gunbroker but here we are.
I love how small it is, how reliable it’s been, how pleasant the 32 ACP cartridge is to shoot, and the 90’s aesthetic. I bought a second one on GunBroker, and also a well worn P-11 because it looks like the P-32’s older brother. The only gripe I’ve had is getting used to the trigger, which is like a revolver trigger, and the bottom of the mags wiggle a tiny bit and feel sorta cheap, they’re MecGar mags which are good quality though. It’s awesome.
Beretta 950 BS minx in .22 short and a CZ Duo in .25 ACP.
Tried to cross-post from r/TheOneTrueCaliber but it wouldn't let me. Also not totally sure this qualifies as a mouse gun, but I saw a recent post about a CZ70 which is definitely bigger/heavier than the Thunder.
Haven't had a chance to fire it yet, but everything seems really smooth in terms of fit, finish, and action. I will say the mag spring is hella-strong out of the box, so I will be compressing that a bit to see if I can get to loosen up. I can get 7 or 8 in there with just my hands and then I have to use a loader to get the last two. Hoping that smooths out over time.
DA trigger averaged 6 lb / 4 oz. SA trigger was 3lb / 2 oz. I don't use the Lyman that much, so take my measurements with a grain of salt. Seems a little light by the numbers, but the feel more or less matches the readings I'm getting. Overall the trigger seems okay to me, at least for dry fire so far.
I used some snap caps to test out the feeding and ejecting. So far, no FTF or FTE, although I know this is a very limited way to test.
Got the nice wood grips from Premium Gun Grips on ebay (but they also have a website for direct ordering). The wood grips definitely make the whole grip a little wider, so keep that in mind if you have small hands (like me).
Can't wait to run some rounds through this baby and see how she does. :)
When I bought this gun new I went all in. Bought extra mags, shot it a lot, got pretty proficient with its long trigger pull. It was and is an accurate little piece. The low bore axis and non fixed barrel make the little gun very manageable, and even fun to shoot. It carries beautifully with its rounded edges. Polished the slide some in a fit of boredom, which was dumb because it's now slippery as an eel. Break down is simple save for installing the non captive recoil spring which has caused me no small amount of frustration.
Started losing interest in it after the plastic mag release snapped in half while shooting it. Got it replaced with a used one, but my faith in it has given way to a Glock 42.
Took it out today and it cycled through five full mags without a hitch.
Anyone looking for a cheap mouser might search the used market for one. They really are pretty neat guns IME.
I know there's .25 aficionados around here so just a shared experience with one gun and a range trip.
The two rounds on the right are PMC, unfired, both struck twice. The one on the right is Winchester brand .
The gun is a FIE Titan, which happily chewed through 70 rounds of Winchester without issue. The PMC not so much.
The first seven round mag only two rounds went off, none of the unfired ones did on the second try. The second mag, NOT ONE round fired, two did on the second attempt. At this point I cut my losses and put the gun away for the day. I have had some hard primers in their 38 special rounds as well, chalking them up to a loose strain screw on my revolver. This has got me scratching my head, and I'm considering passing on this brand from now on. YMMV
“The term ‘mouse gun’ has been around a long time; I remember hearing it as a child in the 1960s and I’m certain it wasn’t new then. These are a species of tiny pistols for ultimate concealment. Traditionally these are chambered for .25 ACP or .22 Long rifle or even .22 Short. Since the latter part of the 20th century there have been some available in .32 ACP and even .380 ACP, but the overwhelming majority of .32s and .380s do not fall into this category.
To me (and many other dinosaurs) a mouse gun is a tiny pistol chambered in .25 ACP or .22 LR. As previously stated later examples might be in .32 ACP or even .380, but these are a bit of an aberration. For a .32 or .380 to qualify as a mouse gun, to my way of thinking, it has to be as small as the aforementioned .22s and .25s, and there aren’t many that qualify.” — (tinkertalksguns.com)
While Tinker doesn’t consider the KelTec P-32 and OG Ruger LCP and LCP II to be “mouse guns”, we mods believe they are. Only barely. They are the absolute max-sized mouse guns. They are HUGE in comparison to a Baby Browning or CZ Duo.
Picked it up through AIM Surplus. It's a 72' edition. Good shape, normal wear for the vintage. I think I got most of the cosmoline cleaned out (Commentator: he, in fact, did not have all the cosmoline out of it.) Looking forward to loading up some reloads for it.
It's only my second with a decocker. Not seeing a lot of wear and it seems to drop it as it should. Need to source a few more OEM mags.
Hey everyone! I have keltec p32 that I absolutely love. Its my daily carry while weather is nice. Throw it in a pocket holster and carry on. Perfect. Although I did have a scare and now im concerned if I should ditch it as my daily carry. I went to the range this last weekend. Everytime I go I always shoot two mags through it just to make sure it functions. Well this last weekend I had a squib. I got the round out but now im concerned that itll happen again. I work construction so im not sure if its the fault of not frequently cleaning enough and getting dust or the ammunition. Im running magtech 71 grain jhp. Ive cleared and tested function but now nervous. Am I just over thinking?
Does this community consider a Rugar LCP a mouse gun?
Looking for a micro-compact CCW option when anything larger is difficult. But I absolutely despise manual safeties on an SD pistol.
Were any 32 or 25 Berettas offered without a manual safety? Would it be absolute folly to buy a DAO model with a manual safety and remove or glue it in place?
I apologize if I got anything wrong in my parts request, I do not know a ton about guns.
I also scored a nearly identical 22lr. I also picked up an old FEG 32auto. I'll get the gang together for a family Pic.
