So lets talk about this Hope Gas “Weather Normalization Adjustment” charge.

Never have I used 12.5 MCF in March. I normally come in around 9/9.5 MCF in an old house. I see I’ve been charged an additional 3 MCF worth of surcharge. WTF ARE WE DOING AT THIS POINT?

Also, to get ahead of the bottom of the barrel comments about WV voting republican, you do realize most of this sub did not, right? Its so low effort…

Rachel Fetty Anderson

In an apparent shocker she upsets Jeff Kessler and Zach Shrewsbury to win the US Senatorial Democratic nominee and will now face longtime incumbent Shelley Moore Capito this November.

2 things.....does she have a better chance to unseat Capito than Paula Jean Swearengin ever could? And also she was recently a former councilwoman and Deputy Mayor for the city of Morgantown. Did she have a hand in improving Morgantown and could that potentially be helpful to her slim chances.

Anyone hear when the access road at University Town Center will open?

It's getting ridiculous at this point. It's been shut down since early February with no end in sight. Could the county or a higher authority strong arm Granville into opening it?

Looking for a good deli

Hey, y’all. So, when on a work trip to Fairmont, we stopped by Hermosilla’s deli. They have excellent meats and cheeses. Some are Amish, also some really good Italian stuff like soppressata, etc. We got some killer smoked Gouda, too. Are there any places here in town that have stuff that’s a cut above the usual Kroger type stuff? Thanks!

Support systems for male divorcees

Hey all,

I am currently in a very unhappy marriage that I am trying to get the courage to leave. My main hang up is that I have no friends or family in the area to act as a support system. I am afraid if I leave and am totally on my own, that I will enter a severe depression due to lack of a support system and loneliness. Any other guys been in the same boat? Are there groups in the area to help with this? Any other suggestions?

I’m not talking about the areas where there are lots of pedestrians (that is understandable), I’m talking about the larger roads and more car dependent areas. For some reason people here accelerate very very slowly everywhere you go, especially when a red light turns green. One time I was on Van Voorhis coming up from 705 and it took a driver in front of me 0.3 miles to accelerate to the 30mph speed limit. People also slam on their brakes for no reason all the time, which is really unnerving. There is no need for that when you aren’t even going the speed limit.

What really gets me is when people have the nerve to merge onto the interstate at 40mph when there is traffic blazing past at 80. That is extremely dangerous behavior, especially because some exits have really short merge areas. On-ramps are the most appropriate time to give it some gas.

We also need to stop using high beams in city limits. Most streets have street lamps and there are people in those houses that are trying to sleep at night. West Virginia Code §17C-15-21 also mandates that you dim your lights when a car is coming and not use your brights when you are less than 200 feet behind the car in front of you.

Edit: I didn’t bring up people making left or right turns very slowly, don’t lollygag in the middle of an intersection! Lol. Also nice to see how friendly our townspeople are in the comments! Bless your hearts.

Lost Dog!

Hey everyone. This sweet boy is looking for his home around Shorty Andersons. He’s a good boy very sweet. This was where this dog used to live (my neighbor) but they moved. I’m assuming this boy got out and made his way home. Please help me find his family!

we don’t have the best credit and i would even go for a slumlord at this point due to the immediate need to move, im just looking for landlords or apartments that dont have a long application process or background checks.

Modern apartments

Hello, I’m moving to Morgantown within a month to start residency, and I’m looking for modern apartments. I’m moving from Houston, and before that I lived in NYC, so I really prefer modern finishes not the older woody kitchens, you know? So far, I’ve only been able to find two apartment buildings that fit that style: Domain at Town Centre and Heights at Black Bear. I was wondering if there are any other apartments you guys would recommend.

Thanks!

Coming into the area late next week to check it out for a potential job in the fall. If you had two days, which places would you eat or visit to get the vibe of Morgantown.

What neighborhoods would you check out? Past locations I’ve lived have been walkable / downtown in cities.

I’m looking to make tonkotsu from scratch in the near future, and for that I need pork bones. I’d like to get pork knuckle bones if possible, and maybe trotters. However I have no idea where to get any pork bones of any type. Most grocery stores get their meats pre-cut/pre-packaged, and even groceries with a meat counter don’t get bones or trotters. Is there *any* place in Morgantown I can get stuff like that, or am I stuck driving to an out of town butcher? Bonus if they also have beef bones so I could attempt pho sometime.

2026 West Virginia elections — US Senate + 2 House races

A few years ago I tried to research my own congressional candidates and the info was a mess -- scattered across a dozen sites, half of them outdated. So I built what I wished existed, and the 2026 West Virginia pages are now live: WV's US Senate race and 2 US House elections:

WV US Senate: https://www.localcandidates.org/elections/2026-us-senate-wv
WV US House (D1): https://www.localcandidates.org/elections/2026-us-house-of-representatives-wv-1
WV US House (D2): https://www.localcandidates.org/elections/2026-us-house-of-representatives-wv-2

You can compare candidates, their positions, fundraising, and backgrounds without bouncing between a dozen tabs. Free, non-partisan, no ads, no signup.

Built and maintained solo. Would genuinely love feedback -- what's missing, what's confusing, what would make it more useful. Happy to take questions or hear about bugs in the comments.
