2012 Marin Hamilton 29er
Fun, low maintenance bike. Got it 60% off at REI because the dude that ordered it didn't realize it had a 2 speed Sturmey hub.

Checking if anyone's familiar at a glance? Can scour for serial # later or take closeup pics of components if helpful.
Someone abandoned it at a self storage facility I service & the manager was happy to get it off their property.
Dolled it up with some bags & took it bikepacking (swyp). Definitely not the lightest bike & could use some wider tires, but also seems not the worse for a freebee.
Bought a pine mountain over winter, today was finally a perfect day to do some single track exploration. Very fun but boy is it clunky and slow compared to the riding I’m used to. I imagine it’s mostly down to th tread and the psi. Considering a rigid fork for bike packing but keeping the suspension for some dedicated trail rides.
So, I've had a bitch of a time with this bike. Particularly the kickstand. It's a Marin Eldridge Grade 2, I believe the 2020 model, and the mounting bracket for the kickstand is on the inside of the frame instead of the outside for whatever reason. As a result, I cannot find a good kickstand for it; the one that came with it had the entire base be plastic and snapped within a few months, I tried buying another aftermarket and fully metal one and had to put it on the wrong way (because I couldn't find a kickstand designed for this bike to go on the right way) and as a result the screw fell out because it would jiggle around, and the kickstand fell off, and finally I bought another one which also fell off for the same reason. So I'm a bit frustrated with this thing already. Does anyone know of a good kickstand designed for this thing? Just a metal kickstand, which can hold up the bikes weight and is designed to go on the inside. Thank you.
Hi everyone. I'd like to buy a Marin Rift Zone 1 29er from 2026. I can't go to the shop and feel how the frame fits me, so I have to buy online. I'm around 183-185 cm (6ft) tall, and according to Marin's frame recommendations, I should get an XL, but I'm not sure if it will be too big.
I want it to be stable, but at the same time, I want to comfortably be able to jump off curbs or small hops and ride on demanding terrain. It's important that it inspires confidence on the road, but also that it doesn't get boring during occasional antics.
I'd like to add that I have longer legs than my torso.
I also considered buying the RZ2, but let me know if it's worth it.
I really appreciate your responses, and thanks in advance. Greetings.
Hey guys, i'm thinking about a Marin Four Corners as a new do it all bike for my future adventures (i do everything, from commuting and chill cycling to bikepacking on komoot wrong road with rocks and hills..)
I am a bit confused about those things:
- Sword/Cue?
- Fc1 or Fc2, which model best price value (2024-5/2026 1 or 2)
- How is the frame size and fit; i'm 170 with legs a bit longer than torso (not so much) and average arms; asking around, half told me M for my legs, half told me S for the comfort of the bike frame shape all around. Official site with height only says 170 is M.
My previous bike was a simple Triban RC520 Gravel on M size, okaysh to me, i was just a bit longer on drop bar and tried to set that with 70/80mm stem. Not perfect, not too bad. Looking for something comfier tho.
- Four Corner 1 'purple color' frame says purple, but to me seems like a simple black. Does anyone have a purple model pic to show the purple reflexes or something?
